Seems to be an external module that connects to the Ethernet port. Unsure if the MB has 1 or 2 Ethernet ports; if it's just 1 then it would prevent you from using wired backhaul.

Do we have any documentation on this add on??? This would be a game changer for rural folks

  2. Hmm, my magic box has stopped working in the last few days, hangs at connecting to network.

Magic box had been fine up until then, going to get in contact with support tomorrow

Anyone else had their MB go funky in the last few days? Seems to coincide with what appears to be changes to ehrpd/LTE hand off changes

Yeah that makes very good sense.  So if you dont mind explaining to me what the ultimate fix will be and what they are currently tweaking?  Sounds like they are prepping for the quickest handoff so that the phone is losing little to zero voice packets I just dont know how they accomplish that technically and why it is affecting our service so severely right now.

I honestly don't know.  My assumption is that Sprint is forcing an LTE->eHRPD cut off at a lesser signal strength than previous to ensure QOS when on VoLTE.  This ensures that a VoLTE session is stable in a call.

    The fix is network densification...

I am seeing similar behavior where I am onLTE then on eHRPD and down to 1x and back to eHRPD etc. Only happening since the 9.0 update but as mentioned it also somewhat coincides with the soft launch of VoLTE in Chicagoland.  I have done all the carrier updates with no luck but have not full reset yet.  Has anyone found a permanent solution to this?

I did every beta of 9 and had it on release day, this behavior was not occurring.  I'm certain it has to do with VoLTE and sharper handoff metrics.

Report it on the bug tracker? I've read there might be magisk hide issues so I'm holding off on the upgrade for now

I need to remember how to do that

Another issue is that I get no Voicemail notification icon when I have a voicemail.  I forget to check when I have a missed call and i end up with six or seven VMEs for weeks ago.

Can't find anything on this issue, anyone else experiencing this?

Got the VM indicator figured out, somehow my account switch for the Voice Mail indicator got switched to off.  A Sprint Rep was able to flip it for me and all is good now.

On DP5 now, none of the Hidden Menus are working yet, PRL and Network updates hang.

I'll share my magic box experience.  First got the magic box last winter for use in the Birmingham area.  It connected to band 25 but provided consistent 20 to 30 mb downloads.  Recently moved to Atlanta suburbs and plugged in the magic box,  and it connected to a weak band 41 signal (-118 db with poor SINR).  Speeds now are terrible,  1 mb to as high as 4 or 5 mb.  Very disappointed.

Sounds like you are connecting to a very over subscribed or under backhauled site

Alternatively, mine has been working great.

My MB has been a life saver, best thing Sprint has ever put out!!!

You know what else works great? WiFi. It can do everything the MagicBox does today.

Nobody is questioning if the device works. I'm simply questioning its purpose. The box should have never been deployed for residential purposes. Retail? Sure. But giving these away to residential customers was just a waste of money and a fast way of getting your customers to abuse your network.

Hopefully T-Mobile makes these devices obsolete and uses the entire swath of EBS/BRS spectrum for 5G purposes.

For those of us with no High Speed Internet options, wifi is not an option at all.  A majority of people have access to High Speed Internet, but a majority of locations do not, i.e. living two miles outside of town.

Anyone having issues with the messages app receiving late or not sending messages? Received a few pics and see the attachment downloading but app closes unexpectedly. This happens with Sprint to Sprint phones (Pixel to iPhone) as well with AT&T numbers

Negative, Android Messages has been rock solid

Jeff.... having similar issues here on the east side of Michigan.    All I can get is a very crowded B25 (1900).      B41 is sometimes available, but data is not very good.  Speeds are way down.

B25 has been reliable over here, just a pain to shutdown the MB, etc.

I wish the Hidden Menu screens in the Android P beta would work so I could change the available bands

  12. Is anyone else running the Android P beta?  On Beta 4 now and i can't get the hidden menu via *#*#3282#*#* to edit anything.  When I input the MSL code, it just goes to a black screen and hangs.eventually the app times out and I get offered to kill it.

If you are just viewing the settings, it works fine, only editing causes issues.  Perhaps an issue with newer security in Android P?

Wondering if any of the other Android P beta devices have the same issue.

So your connecting to sites with B25 only? or 3G? At this point it must be rare for macro sites to not broadcast B26 (not counting GMO or small cell)

Until the Android P beta, I kept B26 disabled on my Pixel 2 XL.  Its over subscribed in all of West Michigan and essentially useless.  Since the Android P beta, I can't get the dialer codes screen to ever open and change the settings.  Luckily I have a Magic Box at home and B41 in Lansing is usually usable now.

It’s supposed to happen this fall.

Truth is, you wouldn’t want to have VoLTE before the Network is ready for it. Better to have more reliable CDMA.

As for why the network wasn’t ready for VoLTE for so long, limited Capex and other related factors probably explain it. Perhaps the 800 MHz rebanding issue as well.

Wasn't that the point in NV1.0, the CDMA upgrade was in place long term to allow the data network to be built out, then in 10ish years (we are 6yrs into that), so we have in theory, another 4 years for full VoLTE deployment.
