  1. Anyone know if the nexus s 4g or epic 4g are eligible for the $100 deal. Otherwise, I'll have sprint bump my upgrade up 2 months.

HTC is giving me $100 for my touch pro 2 so im pretty sure they will give you $100 for either of those devices.
  2. Well tomorrow is the day when sprint is accepting pre-orders for the ONE. I think im just going to take this over the S4, the last 2 Samsung phones i had were a big disappointment sooo HTC here i come! Anyone else doing the same?

I will be preordering online. I'm currently at work doing a maintenance so if it last past 12am I was going to check if the preorder site was live.
  3. I was confused about what the dual antenna does. Is it a evdo and lte antenna?

Here was a summarization from AJ about the dual antenna system.

First, the dual antenna system is optimized for CDMA1X/EV-DO on antenna 0 and LTE on antenna 1. But as long as only one antenna is in use (i.e. SVLTE is not active), the dual antennas can be switched at will to combat an RF fade at one antenna but not the other. Second, LTE max EIRP has been increased by 4 dB over that of the EVO LTE. Furthermore, LTE EIRP has been maximized around the 1912.5 MHz center frequency, 5 MHz FDD carrier bandwidth configuration that Sprint is currently deploying nationwide in its PCS G block spectrum. In short, the Sprint variant of the HTC One has been tweaked specifically for the Sprint LTE network.

I think this is a similar dual antenna system setup like the iPhone 5 if I am not mistaken.

Eh, I can easily pay that and may end up paying that, but it is not a "decent price." If the subsidy system were banished, the price would be under $400, as it should be, because competition would force the middlemen to take smaller than their currently well marbled cuts.

Has the dual antenna system on the One got you intrigued? I'm interested to see how the One will perform compared to the GS3 and Note2.

  5. Really? Only $549? Wow, in that case, I'll take two.

    ;)

Best buy will have it for $700 :Phttp://www.bestbuy.com/site/HTC+-+One+4G+Mobile+Phone+-+Silver+%28Sprint%29/8352107.p;jsessionid=BDE51CCC1237DE8D68D6CB8EE837F9D7.bbolsp-app03-161?id=1218870774830&skuId=8352107&st=htc%20one&cp=1&lp=2&contract_desc=

Like muffinman, I believe I read $549 from Sprint as well. That was the same case with the EVO LTE when it came out. Bestbuy tried selling for $700 and Sprint sold it for $549.

  6. So who all is going to pick up the one on the 19th? I'm pretty sure at this point I am.

Thought about maybe starting a thread to compare One performance vs EVO LTE in regards to LTE. Performance as in sitting in one specific location and testing the RSRP of the One and EVO LTE at the same time, picking up and holding a LTE signal while moving around, etc. I'm hoping it is improved with the One in all those areas.

  7. With HTC Dev you can still flash ROMs. Yes, certain partitions are locked down but that's by design. If HTC unlocked all the partitions or actually gave users S-OFF through HTC Dev, that is just asking for trouble.

At that same time though for me I want S-OFF just because I know what I'm doing.

  8. My experience was not a result of bad coverage. I was standing in a spot with a full 4g signal and the phone switched to 3G as soon as I opened the browser. I had to toggle airplane mode to get it to switch back. Same thing happened over and over again. You would have to hope HTC would fix this issue in the new HTC One.

What was the RSRP of the signal? I'm presuming you were right on the edge of a signal and once it was low enough it fell back to 3G. Then cycling the radio forced it to scan again, then the same thing happens. The EVO LTE is definitely not a good RF performer compared to other devices but from what you described sounds typical of being in a low LTE signal area.

  9. I'm in Tampa for a week and when I landed I had LTE. Thing is...it is really hard to keep it from forcing 3G mode. I updated the profile and PRL. If this is how the EVO is going to be I'm definitely getting a new device once LTE comes to my hometown. Hopefully the HTC One will be a better LTE handset.

On paper it looks to have an improvement but we will definitely know good or bad once the handset gets in S4GRU users hands :)

  10. I was just in the local sprint store here the other day. While waiting I got to hear the store manager tell a customer how she was going to get rid of her home ISP because of how fast LTE is. She was going to get a hotspot for her family at home to share. Then she proceeds to tell the customer not to actually use WiFi as it drains the battery more. And finally to top it off, her final answer to the customers couple of questions was "they are working on the towers".

    <_<

  11. Thanks!

I'll do that...how do you suggest I contact Sprint...e-mail or phone?

I would call them up and ask if you can get your upgrade pushed up. It is only available to certain customers but if you are eligible and so close to your upgrade date it should be $50.

  12. I'm just looking forward to the release of the HTC One.

My current OG EVO is starting to act weird (random reboots, freezes, etc) , and I ready to upgrade...even if costs me a bit for an early upgrade (3 months) since my offical upgrade is not until July.

You might be eligible to get Sprint to push up your upgrade for $50. Might be worth a shot if your OG is about to crap out and you are wanting to get the One on launch.
