Probably all those people who refuse to offload while at home.....excellent ping though
they must have some excellent traffic shaping going on, I would expect a heavily overloaded tower/network to show signs of higher pings than that.
Boom...Ohhh nooo I didn't.... In all seriousness though, not trying to bring up that conversation again

With all this entitlement about unlimited data, Sprint should just stop selecting phones that come with WiFi capabilities. If that truly was their mindset "We offer unlimited data, so you don't need to offload data", they should just choose handsets that don't have WiFi capabilities. Let's see where that gets all of us Sprint users on the Now Network.
Edit - Before you liked it dedub, I forgot to put /sarcasm at the end.

Like irev210 said, wait for Sprint to complete the build out in Houston. If you can't or don't want to wait, switch carriers. Venting on S4GRU really won't solve your problems.
If you feel a need to complain, call Sprint.

This is all great news. I can't wait to see the updates for Kansas!
-
No prob. I thought about stopping and asking if they will be doing any other towers while they are here. Not sure if they would tell me that info.I've never seen a two in the front/one in the back RRU scenario. Neato. Thanks.

This is a site done by Ericsson sub contractors:
http://s4gru.com/ind...ter-comparison/
From what I've seen they are always directly behind the large NV panel.
I think there are some of Alca-Lu and Samsung work in the gallery here.
Edit- This video here gives you a good look at the RRUs.

I am content with consistent 6 mbps. Anything higher is just an added bonus.
Just food for thought, I was by an LTE tower last night and ran a speedtest. I got around 33mbps down and 10mbps up. The Root Metrics app said in that 1 speed test, 46MB was used. It wouldn't take too long for those users who brag about 30+ mbps LTE download speeds to hit their 2GB threshold. By my count at those speeds.... all it would take would be 44 speed tests

Thanks! Yeah I'd say for the most part that would be it, but I'm not sure I could get around without 4G at the moment.
I'm not sure if 4G is working in any sense 4.0 ports :-(
-
Anyone know if anyone has made a fully functional Sense 4.0 ROM yet?
I think for the most part this ROM should be what you are looking for (with the exception of 3D and 4G):

As a work around you could use ES File Explorer and cut and paste what you want into ext_sd. Maybe in TWRP you could mount the internal storage... but rebooting to recovery every time to pull some files off really isn't feasible. Thanks for responding. The settings were correct within the stock browser. I just assumed that Chrome grabbed the download location from the stock settings and that when the stock settings said "storage card" it was referring to mnt/sdcard and not the ext_sd.
I just tested and the downloads from within the stock browser go where I want them so it's a Chrome issue. I can't find the setting anywhere in Chrome.
-
I'm still searching for the settings in Chrome, but for the stock app try this:
Open up the app, Menu > Settings > Advanced > Download Storage and make sure Storage Card is selected. I just tried this and made sure when i download say an image, it went to /mnt/sdcard/ext_sd/Download.

I would stick with unlimited data and wait for NV. I just used up 1GB in a half of a day on LTE going around to different sites and doing speedtests.I seriously considered going with At&t myself, but that bill is gonna be higher, with wayyyy less data. I looked at how much data I've used with Sprint so far, and I already used about a gig from doing speedtest alone. That was only after 2 weeks of having the phone smh.

Glad LTE is up in hutch. Hoping for some here in Emporia soon.

enhanced above photo's and added a few more
Is this at WT03SW240?
I wonder if those workers were like "Why is this guy taking photos of us??" lol
Can't wait til I see some work being done around here.
-
I wouldn't hold your breath. Unless you can go out and find said tower and see they have been doing work on it.I actually just got off the line with a rep from sprint cause my internet on the phone isn't really working and he told me that the tower near my house is being upgraded to LTE... should I be super excited?!
-
No, but there are Site Drawings available.
Cool. Thanks for the help. Just looking at the pic I have from a couple other sites, I'm pretty sure that top rack should be sprint.
I appreciate the help.

Does this match with your tower?
That is it! Excellent work. Does the American Tower website list what panels go to what vendor?
I believe from this pic the top panels are sprint: http://www.americantower.com/SiteLocator/PhotoViewer.aspx?lngSiteId=2757&towerId=0&towerNumber=75484&country=united%20states&ATFileId=9691169

Are you looking at Tower Results and Antenna Results?
It is the registered tower on Carter St. Looking at both Tower and Antenna results.

Have you checked AntennaSearch?
No I had not used that. Thanks.
I just tried and it does not list Sprint on that tower, but I know for sure Sprint equipment is on the tower. I'll keep doing some more digging around.
-
Thanks for the responses on this everybody. Did anybody have a chance to look at the pictures? I believe it is the top rack of antennas but with all the equipment on there it can get confusing.
I might try to go out and get better pictures of each rack to do a comparison.
Has Sprint and/or Ericsson used different panels in the past?
-
This was 2 days after the picture. Never had these speeds on it in 5 yrs.
Do you have your LTE radio off? Trying running in LTE/CDMA mode and see if you get even better speeds. The network status should change from " EVDO Rev A" to "eHRPD".

If you are around the mall in Manhattan, you are getting LTE from the tower I posted pics of. Just looking at your screenshot you posted, those tower locations are correct. What is the best way to figure out where these towers are? I live in Manhattan KS and have been trying to figure out where I'm getting LTE and where I'm not. I have the netmonitor app but it doesn't always work for me. I looked at sprints network.sprint.com site and have it pretty narrowed down I think. I live right near where far right tower is on this graphic, but no LTE for me. I know if i drive around or go down to the middle of town, I can pick up LTE.
What other tools are good to use to test?
Thanks

I'm sure us Kansas guys could get together easily. Drink some beers and talk about NV.
