  1. Just went out to my local sprint store and they only got one One. Nobody had put a deposit on it so I put $50 down. Got teased though because they were like "You can look at it, but we cant sell you it til tomorrow". So I opened up the box and checked it out. I really like the look and feel. Can't wait til tomorrow

Did I hear him correctly, that he's going to put the SIM card from his old phone into the One? I've been meaning to ask this and forgive me b/c I'm incredibly uninformed on this, but will our Sprint version do that? The SIM card for the Sprint One has what functionality.

My HTC Design 4G (Sprint) doesn't have a SIM card on it, does it?

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Peace,

    DM

See AJ's article about the HTC One here: http://s4gru.com/ind...tc-one-for-all/

The article kckid linked was for an AT&T HTC One.

Also, your HTC Design 4G does not have a SIM.

  3. Hey all, found this place wile trying to scout out sprints network here in Albany/Salem Oregon. Gonna be making the switch from Big Red next week when the HTC One comes out and wanted to konw what to expect from Sprints network and this site has helped quit a bit. I lurked for a bit and finally have decided to drop in and say hi.

    Welcome to S4GRU! :D

I can't wait to get the HTC One as well.

Oh, I totally forgot to mention that my post was more to just confirm/reinforce what was said a couple days ago in this (your) post:

    Sorry, I posted hastily.

no worries its all good. Im glad the other codes are working too!

  5. Someone over on XDA was given a One ahead of the launch and was nice enough to start a thread asking people if they had any questions:

    http://forum.xda-dev...d.php?t=2228412

I went ahead and posted this:

    To which he responded:

    See his post for screenshots:

Unfortunately, he is not in an area where Sprint has rolled out LTE yet, so we can’t really compare anything at this time.

##DEBUG# works on the Sprint HTC One.

Edit - Nevermind I seen your reply about the screenshots.

  6. <br /><br />I just added my name to a HTC One pre-order list at a Sprint Corporate store and they were only taking orders for the silver.<br /><br /><br />Question...do you think the silver version looks macho enough

Put it in a pink case. :P

  7. I really want to order another HTC One in black.

Anyone know the best place to grab One (off contract)?

Newegg and Wirefly are offering the One in black for preorder but I suspect they will be delyaed. Sprint and HTC have given no date when the One in black will be available.

Edit -- I take that back. Wirefly is now showing as "Coming soon" and no option to preorder and from what I can tell on Newegg, they have removed the option completely for stealth black.

  8. Good work, leerage. Yes, let us hope that the final build retains the engineering screens (or that the FieldTrial.apk can be sideloaded from the EVO LTE to the One).

    AJ

I asked Dana if she could try the ##DEBUG# code as well on the AT&T HTC One and as expected it did not work.

  9. I wonder what the signal quality of this HTC One phone is?

That's the million dollar question. No reviews (from what I've found) went in depth on RF performance specifically on the Sprint network and compared it to other devices such as the GS3, Note2, and EVO LTE.

You can bet there will be tons of comparisons once the One gets into hands of S4GRU users.

  10. Quote from the Anandtech review:

"My last note about the HTC One is that just like the last set of HTC devices, there’s no awesome Qualcomm field test application which you can get to via a dialer code. That’s gone on every single variant as a result of some operator request for proposals which explicitly asked for it to be removed. Operators remain the reason we can’t have nice things, even on international phones."

I read that as well but I was hoping to get somebody to confirm. As AJ noted, the HTC EVO LTE was an exception when compared to the HTC One X. So hopefully with Sprint, the engineering screens will be included.

  11. Ha, what a joke of a reply. My experience is that Phone Scoop is no friend to Sprint, but is Rich really that dense and under informed? Get that man over to S4GRU, posthaste.

    AJ

I sent him back one more reply. Hopefully he won't dodge my question again.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, it isn't officially launched yet, but work is definitely underway:

    http://www.sensorly.com/map/4G/US/USA/Sprint/lte_310sprint#q=san francisco

Do you still have the HTC One? I was just curious if HTC removed the engineering screens. It is valuable program in tracking RF performance of the phone.

Still waiting to hear back from him.

  12. Someone needs to tell these guys to go and drive somewhere that's purple in Sensorly to test LTE. Particularly someone in the SF market, where there's plenty of LTE about to be found...

My thoughts exactly. I just emailed Rich Brome to see if he still had the device:

    Rich,

I was just taking a look over your Sprint HTC One review. Do you still have the device? LTE should be available in San Francisco and I was wondering if the network mode was set to CDMA only? Also, if you still have the device, could you pull up the dialer and type ##DEBUG# to see if it brings up the engineering screens. From what I've read, HTC was forced to omit the awesome field trial engineering screens.

    Thanks.

    His response:

According to Sprint's maps, they haven't launched LTE in San Francisco yet:

    http://coverage.sprint.com/IMPACT.jsp?ECID=vanity:coverage

It's not on their list of cities, either:

  13. It's $130 at Newegg, but the store layout is very similar to WireFly. Would this be a similar deal with a secondary contract?

Didn't even know Newegg did cell phones until now.

    Newegg's terms of purchase:

    http://wireless.newegg.com/autocontent.aspx?pageid=4288&referringdomain=newegg&oflag=specialoffer&refcode1=EGG_9999_001_LNav_SPRDeals&cid=35159_729cc2372dfa4f7aba7656bd322d9a41&zipcode=66801&viewmode=1

    But basically to summarize:

Delivering on this promise means that you must agree to maintain your agreement for a minimum of 181 days after activation. If we are notified by the carrier that they are not going to pay us because your phone has been deactivated during this period, then this may lead to additional charges.

To provide you with significant savings vs. buying in a retail store, the price you paid for your device includes an Instant Savings Discount from this online retailer.

By accepting this Instant Savings Discount, you agree to repay $200 of this discount ($400 for smartphones, tablets, and netbooks) and authorize us to charge your credit card in repayment of this amount if, you signed up for a 2 year agreement and during the 181 days after your new equipment is activated, your wireless carrier notifies us that the services you purchased have been suspended, disconnected, or deactivated, or if you return your purchase outside of the return and exchange provisions of our 14-day Satisfaction Guarantee.

  14.

In all seriousness, though, why is your dad a Sprint sub in the first place? In my opinion, that is inappropriate. Please support Nex-Tech, the local carrier that actually built out the network in your dad's county. Or, if you must go with a national carrier, have your dad sign up with VZW or AT&T, which did nothing to build out the area but instead bought out Alltel and RCC Unicel.

    AJ

He needed a cell phone, sprint showed coverage there so I added him to my account. Simple as that. I actually didn't really know much about Nex-Tech providing the native coverage for Sprint until joining S4GRU. His contract is up next January so if we do have to pay an ETF in June, it wont be too bad. Lesson learned I guess.

Verizon finally just got EVDO there so I guess if he has to get on with them so be it.

Where can you find out if your phone qualifies? When i try to look up if its ok it just wants me to go through the process to get the $100.

You can go through the process to see how much they will give you for a device. You are not obligated to follow through with it.
