Got my Pixel 4 XL yesterday. Pretty sweet phone!
It will not connect to my Magic Box no matter what. Tried rebooting, toggling airplane mode, reboot magic box, etc.I checked the PRL and it says "1". I updated the PRL and it still says "1".
Does everyone else's phone say PRL version is 1?
How about connecting to the Magic Box? Any issues?Edit: A day later and it connected to my MB but PRL still says "1"????

Some important information. Glad to see this.
For our customers:
-
Today, Sprint signed FCC Chairman Ajit Pai’s Keep Americans Connected Pledge. For the next 60 days, we will support our residential and small business customers by:
- Not terminating service if they are unable to pay their Sprint bill because of the coronavirus, and
- Waiving late fees incurred because of economic circumstances related to the pandemic.
- Starting on Tuesday, customers with international long distance calling plans will receive complimentary international calling rates from the U.S. to countries defined by the CDC as Level 3.
-
By next Thursday:
- Customers with metered data plans will receive unlimited data per month for 60 days (a minimum of two bill cycles) at no extra cost.
- We will provide customers with an additional 20GB of mobile hotspot data per month for 60 days (a minimum of two bill cycles) at no extra cost.
-
Coming soon:
- Customers with mobile hotspot-capable handsets who don’t have mobile hotspot today will now get 20GB as well per month for 60 days (a minimum of two bill cycles) at no extra cost.

It does not automatically fall back to LTE backhaul. Tries to reestablish with your Wi-Fi backhaul first. If that fails, you have to manually change backhaul to LTE.
I guess that answers the question for me and for you. I want an instant internet backup solution if/when the primary internet (LAN/WiFI) connection ever drops.

Why not use your own WiFi instead?
Question- Does anyone know how the MB works if you have it set to Wifi but your home internet goes down for whatever reason. Power outage, general failure, etc? Does it automatically fall-back to LTE for backhaul? If so, how long does it take?

No unfortunately. They said technically they (a higher up tech with access to the right tools) can move it to B25, but it doesn't stick past a reboot. So the next time the device reboots (power failure, software update, etc), it will be back on B41. They did not want to set a precedent of doing this, and having people repeatedly call in to have it locked back to B25.

I believe this has been discussed here, but is there a way to force the MB to latch onto B25 instead of B41? Where mine is located, it latches on to a VERY weak B41 signal instead of B25. None of my phones can get B41 at this location so the signal is very, very weak.
The problem with latching on to B41, I get a decent download speed from the MB (close to 20 Mbps) but upload is less than 1 Mbps. This is with 1 user. I notice that if I run a speedtest on the MB, during the upload segment, the MB will actually fall offline (lose all LTE data activity). No data throughput when connected to the MB for 2-3 minutes after/during an upload speedtest.
Would the MB phone support team be able to force the MB on to B25?

How do you check the GPS location for the magic box?
WiFi toggled off.
When I am upstairs, my phone can pick up proper GPS location on it's own from outside.
In my very deep basement, my phone gets the GPS location solely from the Magicbox.
My weather app follows me where I go (uses GPS) so I could tell immediately when the weather conditions were way off.
-
So I went on a short vacation and took my Magic Box with me. Now that I am back, the Magic Box (GPS location) is still reporting the City/State of my vacation spot. This is after several days and a few reboots??Edit: The GPS location corrected on day 3.

Is there a consensus opinion (or even objective proof) about RF performance between the P3XL and P4XL, w/r/t holding or picking up weak signals?
I am interested in this too. Would like to know compared to the Pixel 2 XL.

There are also still several sites that are down due to the major flooding we had along I-29 between Omaha and KC, so I've left VoLTE off since I make that drive pretty frequently.
Which sites are offline that you know of?

Just a heads to those that are in an area where Magic Box isn't/wasn't available. Try again.
I typed my address in the Magic Box checker page and it says it's available to use in my area now. Always said it wasn't available before (Lincoln, NE).

My 2nd gen updated today and enabled WiFi backhaul.
SW Ver. 15.16.50.944
60.12.71.0
Does the MB Gen 2 and Gold units use the same software versions? Or does Sprint use diff versions for each box?

I haven't really seen a speedtest get above 10 Mbps upload on B41. But on NSG it does show 2xCS UL if the signal is strong (otherwise it does 1 carrier with HPUE). NSG shows upload though in the 15-20 Mbps range, which is about the most I'd expect.
Samsung market.
I've seen FDD-TDD in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and NYC market. It's only used when B41 is too weak to use as a PCC, and it would switch to B25 anyway. The result is that B41 throughput isn't very good usually since it's so weak. I managed to get a speedtest with NSG running, and you can see B25 has 2 MIMO streams (rank 2, at 13 Mbps on one stream and 4 Mbps on the other). B41 is too weak to do 2 streams, so it's 1 stream (rank 1, at 3 Mbps on one carrier, 5 Mbps on another, and the third having no throughput)
Thanks for the info. Man that app really rocks. Too bad it requires root grrrrrrr!
FDD-TDD is supposedly live in Denver.
Im gonna grab a Pix 4 when funds allow.
I appreciate all your input.

As I've said in multiple previous posts, you need root with the pay version of NSG. That's the only way to get it on a Pixel.
It was either pushed in the Feb OTA, or Sprint pushed the config change. For what it's worth, the modem is identical in Jan and Feb OTAs (same sumcheck).
These are all "live", in that the phone will seemingly attempt to use them. The only additions here are domestic roaming combos. No international combos are present.
Interestingly, it has AT&T bands 14 and 30, but no 66.
No B71 for T-Mobile.
And it has B13 (Verizon) combos. Maybe a sign that Verizon LTE roaming is coming?

Can you share some of your speedtest results on Sprint? Are you in a Samsung market? Ericsson?
More importantly, is TDD-FDD enabled nationwide yet? Specifically Nebraska/West Iowa.
Thanks

A ton more CA combos just got enabled on my Pixel 4 XL. Looks like for domestic roaming. No band 7+7 for example (which it can do, and which I've seen in Spain).

How exactly are you finding this out?
Was it from the February Pixel update?
How do you/we know when any of the combos go "live" on Sprint?
Thanks for the info!

Not until I get down to Havasu in a month.
Please report your findings, both upload and download in several different areas at the same time.
I could sure use a trip to Havasu in a month

I guess I'm underwhelmed, WiFi calling is back, lte data rates especially uploads are no better than before, connected to a call they're even worse as expected. I suppose this explains the network performance degradation around here. The world is using the data network for voice and now the data network is taxed beyond limits. This ought to be worse than before for College World Series and football game days in Lincoln.
Know anyone with an S10 or Note 10 on Sprint that you can compare results with?

@ingenium posted that the Pixel 4 is capable of these CA combos in the Pixel 4 thread. Can someone please confirm if these are also available on the 3a and 3a XL? I need to get a new phone for my Dad. Thanks

25+41 upload isn't on any phone. 41+41 just came out with the latest Qualcomm modem I believe. 25+41 download is only now rolling out.

Gotcha. Thanks for posting. So, radio-wise, is the S9, S10, Note 10 better than the Pixel 4? I know there are advantages over the Pixel 1 and 2 for example.

Are you still in the Gretna/Omaha area? What upload speeds are you getting on average?

VoLTE doesn't work if it's not using LTE backhaul? That would be really surprising if true.
