How many devices connected to wifi in your house?
tommym65 replied to kineticman's topic in General Topics
WiFi: 3 phones 3 tablets/book readers 2 laptops 2 printers 1 blu-ray ======= 11 Wired: 3 desktops 1 blu-ray 1 VoIP phone 1 Airave ======= 6 ======= 17 total devices But I am old, so I don't have all them newfangled gamey/monitory/camera thingamabobs all you young whippersnappers are bragging about. Now excuse me while I see if I can find my set of WiFi false teeth. -
Consider becoming a sponsor. (The link is on the "Forums" top page) Then you will have access to maps showing tower locations.

Also be aware that the evo 4G LTE has been criticized by other members of this forum for having poor LTE radio performance, and for having difficulty connecting to LTE when it enters an LTE-available area. (And, as an aside, by wierd happenstance, I was in Sonoma yesterday doing a sales demo, and both my GS3 and my hotspot got excellent LTE, and strong connection to 800 SMR (well, the GS3 got strong 800).

You should sign up with Sprint. They have unlimited data. (Sorry, I couldn't resist.)

It is good to know you are indoors and dry. While your constant messages are genuinely missed, your safety is MUCH more meaningful!

Netgear Zing 771S tri band LTE mobile hotspot discussion

Same here: I called and asked. The associate put me on hold for about a minute, then came back and gave me the MSL. -
No, the thief will have LTE.

New device authorization to cease if government shuts down

Hey, where'd you get a picture of my phone?!?! (I actually had one identical to that from about 1990-91.) -
For all practical purposes, in SE Wisconsin, the iPhone 5s will likely meet your needs. LTE 2500/2600 will not be available near you until sometime next year, and LTE 800 (which should be available sooner) and 1900 should provide good connectivity and adequate speeds.

Service is much, much better than 2 years ago, or a year ago. Took the choo choo in to Chicago yesterday (50 miles) had 800 SMR all the way, LTE nearly all the way, and had excellent voice and LTE in the Loop.

Hesse talks about the stock price in some detail. The whole interview is worth listening to.

And people in Madision/Milwaukee (and, I think, some other markets as well) are reporting that NV-upgraded sites are now reporting exact site latitude/longitude, rather than the offsets that have always been there.

In amongst all the discussion about which is bigger, which is sexier, mine is better than yours, etc., etc., has anyone actually used one of the silly things? I am interested in phone and data performance, as I am going to be forced to buy one (or the other) for my sig. other. (And the thought of those bright shiny cases hurtss us, Precious, because we are Android bigotses.) Or should we open another thread just to talk about performance?

At least 5 Sprint sites in and around Pendleton, OR, are scheduled for Sprint NV Phase 1 updates, including 1900 LTE and 800 LTE. People with more knowledge of your local situation may know about projected dates, but over 39,000 Sprint sites will have complete upgrades by mid-2014.This information is readily available in the Sponsor section of this forum. You do not say whom you called. The fact is, most Sprint store reps, affiliate store reps, and customer service agents simply do not have access to Sprint's planning data. They don't deliberately lie, but they often simply don't know A few of them participate in this forum, and are exceptionally knowledgeable.

I guess my question really is, What hardware is missing? I'm just curious.

So, here's a naive (maybe even dumb) question inside a long-dead thread: Samsung's GS3 specs (and GS4 specs, for that matter) state that the device is capable of connecting to both 1900 and 800 MHz LTE, generically speaking. Of course, we all know that each wireless vendor has a unique variant of the GS3. My question is therefore entirely theoretical. I have no expectation that Sprint would ever do anything like I am thinking of, even if it would work. To wit: Since the GS3 has antennas that can receive and broadcast both 1900 MHZ and 800 MHz signals, and since the GS3's software is capable of receiving and transmitting FDD LTE, is there any theoretical reason why a software/firmware upgrade could not enable 800 MHz (Band 26) LTE on existing GS3's? Or is there specific, non-existent hardware required to enable Band 26 LTE on the GS3? Thanks in advance to those of you who know something about cell phone engineering (or, for Samsung, maybe "enginerring").

Going to Portillo's shortly, will update after. Later: Got 104 ms ping, 1651 kbps down, 646 kbps up outside Portillo's, 109 ms ping, 704 kbps down, 525 kbps up outside Starbucks. This is much better than athens' results, and also much better than results I have gotten from that tower before. It suggests that the link from the "Portillo's" site to the switch has been improved, but note that my readings are on a Sunday night, so network traffic is likely fairly low. I got even faster pings (98 & 94 ms) further west on 14 while still connected to the same tower. Edit: Later: I am getting multiple copies of texts tonight. In the past, that has happened when Sprint was making changes in the local network (for example, last June, when 800 SMR came up). Maybe I'm being silly, but I'm hoping that this means new local services. [ ]
