  1. Damn it Arysyn you were doing SO WELL up until AT&T/T-Mobile merger. While totally possible, this would DESTROY EVERYTHING DECENT about the wireless industry as well as ruin the happiness of millions of subscribers and really hurt Sprint. I say leave the four major carriers four separate major carriers. I want them all to build super power fast wireless 4G/5G networks and then just sell the infrastructure to MVNOs, who we then purchase service from. More competition, more choice.
  2. Still better than what it's valued at, which as this point in time makes it a gain on sale technically if they're applying Lower of Cost or Market on the asset.
  3. 5G isn't for suburbs, rural America if they deploy mmW. It'll be a focus solely on urban neighborhoods and major cities. Minneapolis will definitely see 5G, rest of Minnesota? Probably not. Same goes for small cells.
  4. There's no way they can get new equipment by the end of 2017, with all the designing testing and production work that has to go with it. On top of all this, since 600MHz requires massive panels, they might have to restructure some sites. I'm calling them out on this, there's just no way end of 2017 is doable.
  5. If Dish auctioned its spectrum holdings, 'carriers would show up in size,' Jefferies analysts argue http://www.fiercewireless.com/story/if-dish-auctioned-its-spectrum-holdings-carriers-would-show-size-jefferies/2016-05-20 Honestly, I'm inclined to believe. Set a price on some and people will be hesitant. Let people fight for their price and then you get successful sales! Part of the reason eBay is so great; if Dish does this I think they'll definitely flip it
  6. T-Mobile: We'll start to use incentive auction spectrum 'at the end of 2017' http://www.fiercewireless.com/story/t-mobile-well-start-use-incentive-auction-spectrum-end-2017/2016-05-20 lol Edit: also they took shots at Sprint for lowering capex
  7. Guys, this is a topic on Sprint's 5G trial at Copa. Let's try to stay on topic
  8. Since you're going to major cities in Europe, I would figure just go with a most familiar sounding name and reasonably priced prepaid SIM. It's really unlikely that a carrier would ignore reasonable coverage in a major tourist city!
  9. http://www.fiercewireless.com/tech/story/sprints-5g-plans-no-surprise-analysts/2016-05-05 Oh damn, this could be very helpful in the long run! Someone quickly aggregate their microwave holdings and start S5GRU!
  10. Even though you're joking, you're pretty much right actually! I believe they're using the demo tech to wirelessly broadcast the game in 4K on some multiple large displays
  11. Small cells will fix that, and 5G means LOTS of small cells for all carriers, so network gaps will become a thing of the past
  12. It's important Sprint looks at 5G because the 5G tech, while other carriers plan to use it for millimeter waves, Sprint can use it with band 41. That means instead of 20+20 CA, it could just be one large 40, 60, 80, 100MHz carrier. It's important for certain over capacity locations.
  13. This is pretty much the idea, yeah. LTE, which we all know stands for Long Term Evolution, is going to be the main source of data connections for a very long time, including going into 5G. Wideband LTE-A with MIMO and higher level QAM probably
  14. Well I'm home now but I'll be back there Friday morning so I'll snap one while I'm out
  15. One Bernard Baruch Way/25th Street by Lexington Avenue
  16. Wait, so if Sprint still holds the full B block here in NYC, we could expect a 10x10 B25 carrier to go with the existing 5x5??
  17. Okay, very weird - the Sprint/Clear collocated site at my college is still broadcasting 39991, no carrier aggregation.
  18. Wow, really well said and put Deval. Top notch post and I appreciate that you shared your record of being in the room! Also thank you for indirectly backing my point about the backhaul. Going into the future of the Sprint network, things look pretty bright so long as execution of small cell deployment goes well for those of us not feeling the speedy grace of B41.
  19. I don't know, with adding spectrum, adding capacity through new sectors and small cells, and increasing levels of MIMO and QAM, the other carriers are very threatening - especially since they have far more sites and greater densification than Sprint. Marcelo should be throwing as much cash at small cells and new macros as possible.
  20. No, I'm saying they were ALWAYS a competitor because they had market share - 30M sounds small compared to 50M but it's still a percent of the overall market, so they did matter to VZ and AT&T. If anything, T-Mobile got good prices on fiber not because of their size but because the demand for fiber was very different at the time they began building.
