  1. Band 66 is AWS 1, 3, and 4 all packed and wrapped nicely in a superset band. It's obviously not yet in use, but give it a few years and you'll be upgrading again to a B66 armed device.
  2. So the widest carrier is 10x10, and the FCC believes this will guide the 5G kickoff? That's garbage. No carrier is investing in 10x10 unless it's in a market where spectrum is slim, AKA the tiny rural carriers are the only ones buying, and T-Mobile and AT&T where it really hurts. This spectrum won't be usable for years, and they think the max size of 10x10 is worth billions of dollars? What a joke.
  3. 2-3Mbps is usually associated with a higher latency which messes things up. I can't properly watch a periscope at 2-3Mbps, even Netflix goes through hell at 2-3Mbps. Furthermore, it's not exactly acceptable. A minimum of 15Mbps everywhere w 50ms ping - perfect
  4. While 200-300Mbps would be a definitely good bicep flex for them, they need to focus on putting small cells everywhere to give everyone ubiquitous 200-300Mbps. 300Mbps on one block in NYC does not forgive 2-3Mbps on another.
  5. This is the ultimate goal of 5G. In no universe will anyone in the current time period of HD video need 7-10Gbps of downstream, it's simply overkill. In the future? Maybe. But not now. 7-10Gbps however challenges wireline ISPs nationwide. The average Internet speed in the US is 11.9Mbps in the entire nation, and right now LTE networks are starting to overshadow this average. 5G will allow carriers to jump leaps and bounds ahead of ISPs, and thanks to small cells, LTE Relay, and the large 1GHz mmW chunks they expect to use, carriers could potentially promise customers 100Mbps minimum speeds in every neighborhood, higher if they can deliver small cells in a block by block strategy. This allows the carriers to opt for a new WISP method of generating revenue. This is why Verizon is lowering focus on FiOS - yes they're building out in Boston, but how are we sure that isn't just to make sure they can keep backhaul cheap for their 5G rollout? They said themselves they're gonna focus more on wireless. Their endgame is to provide a killer 5G network to kill the more traditional ISPs and steal revenue. The future is fast, and the future is wild.
  6. It's weird because it's Bluhm in the article I linked saying they're gonna "wait and see". I don't think they should disclose all details, but transparency about testing should be out in the open. 5G is access to new markets in the future, and gives carriers greater opportunity to generate revenue than LTE allows today. I really hope they got some good things in the works!
  7. http://www.fiercewireless.com/story/sprint-taking-wait-and-see-approach-5g/2016-04-13 Well, I don't like this. While 200MHz of 2.5GHz is solid, it's not entirely nationwide. Furthermore, some of the others have 1GHz of EHF spectrum, and are prepped to kick off testing. They need to stop messing around & deliver because all the public cares about is sheer speed, reliability, & availability.
  8. Sorry, I'm mistaken. Memory failed and turns out I was thinking of 41078 at another site. Damn, I really wanna see 3x in action.
  9. On an iPhone; however, this is the last cell site. I'm on the bottom most tip of Staten Island, we only have one down here for about a mile
  10. Yep - 41078, 41276, 41474 - I discovered all these carriers here at my site in my very home.
  11. Come to my area of Staten. We got all 3 live!
  12. So... Has anyone considered grabbing a Galaxy S7 to try out this 300Mbps rumor? Cause I really have!
  13. Fiber pal, even used for international calls in most cases I believe. Google transatlantic cable
  14. B41 at Baruch College is down & out. Stuck on B25.. No idea what happened. I'm on the 10th floor of the building with a few inches of glass separating me and the site.
  15. I see both, 41276 & 39991 is all over the place. Also found 41078 today in Manhattan!
  16. Correct, goes straight to 41276. The second carrier isn't live everywhere though, like the Staten Island ferry (at least last I checked)
  17. Huguenot train station in Staten Island. Same UARFCN as the site by my house. I spend my days in Manhattan on 23rd street by Lexington, still haven't found anything.
  18. Found the second carrier running on what I'm very sure is an old WiMAX set up!
