  1. Flash the .15 radio, you will be astonished. I have to say from the few B41 sights I have connected to, I am really glad to be in an old WiMax market with many separate Clearwire towers. Quite a few of them are in Sprint dead zones and augment the coverage PERFECTLY.

I really hope sprint puts 1900/800 on some of clearwires separate sites. Around here it seems clearwire selected much better sites with better spacing.
  2. The question is will the spark update (which I assume we'll have a new baseband?) perform as well as .15 does?

we won't know until it's released. We can always roll back to .15

The e/CSFB issue will be sorted out in full eventually so we won't have that issue with not having service sometimes on .15 for now it's just a wait and see

  3. Yesterday I went to take a call, signal check was reporting I was on 1xrtt 800 but the phone status bar said roaming. Anyone else notice this? I haven't been able to duplicate it, I didn't even think Syracuse had any 800 deployed. I'll be back on that side of town later today to try again.

I see that all the time. I'll grab a screenshot when I can
  4. Working in the Tysons Corner area, I pass through the Merrifield area regularly, and I agree that the service is spotty.

Also in the Tysons area, I have noticed that in a few places, that while I have a 4G connection, I have no useable data. I actually have to switch my HTC One to CDMA Only mode to get a data connection. Personally, I think that there may be a few problems with one or two of the towers in Tysons, but every time I call Sprint, they saw that there are no problems that have been reported in the area.

until Dc becomes a launched market, any problems with lte can't have tickets opened
  5. While in a call, do a three way call to ##debug# and you will see a screen like this:

My wife and I had an HD call today. She was on the G2 and I was using the Flex. Where you see the SO designation you can see it says EVRC_NW. That is HD voice. It was so clear and she was on speaker phone in the bathroom doing her hair. There was no echo and it was perfect!

Then she moved to her car and used the car Bluetooth and it went to hell! Probably because the car circuitry is always expecting just 5-8 KHz bandwidth, not the 16 KHz that HD voice uses.

I've seen that before but I've also gotten this

    Idk what it is though

  6. So basically the .15 radio removes the feature that kicks the phone down to 3G when the LTE site can't setup the 1x tunnel?

yes, pretty much the only downfall I found. Your phone would sit there connected to lte but unable to receive calls and texts.

Edit: the band 41 goodness is worth the risk. I've only encountered that issue with one tower

  7. has anyone noticed it taking a considerable amount of time to reconnect to LTE after a phone call? I'm sitting on LTE, make a call, drops to 1x on a close tower for the call, then takes 30sec or more for the radio to connect to either tower again.

This happened tonight in a completely different location too

    on .15

I've tried a few times over the last two days and it connects back fairly quickly for me.
  8. I'm not letting go of .15 until the official update. The ecsfb issue is pretty much nonexistent in my area except of course my home tower. I really hate that site! But anyway I've noticed the handoff from band 41 to 25 isn't really smooth (wasn't expecting that anyway). The lte symbol will go away for a noticeable amount of time maybe 5 secs. Also I really like how it knows to transitions from band 25 to 41 when I am in the area of it.

  9. was this on an ecsfb site? So if you're on .15 connected to band 41 on a non-ecsfb upgraded site you can't receive calls but you can still call out? Did i sum that up right?

no this site didn't have an ecsfb issue. I was just showing calls can be routed from b41 sites back to 1x.

The problem I was explaining earlier is on the .15 radio, if a site is having an ecsfb issue it won't kick you off the site like it should and you won't know unless you check.

  10. A quick way to tell if you're connected to a site with ecsfb issues and your phone shows lte is to pull down the notification bar and at the bottom it'll say Sprint if there is no issue or it'll say searching for service if the ecsfb issue is present.

  11. well I have not yet to have a definite conclusion. The plus of .15 is you don't have to do the prl trick to connect to b41, it seems to like b41, and it does connect to ecsfb lacking sites when they shouldn't. But it is great for LTE hunting. I just am curious to see someone trying to call while on b41 to see if it goes to the closest 1x site, or if it has issues.

I called while connected to b41 and it sent the call to the closest 1x site. This was from a non co located site too
  12. It's roughly 90Mbps for a 20MHz TDD LTE carrier in 3:2 in an ideal world with no time link switch lag. Since there is a lag in performance between switching from up to down link time slicees, I think 70-75Mbps is the fastest we will ever see without more MIMO.

so with sprint saying 50-60mbps are there under promising and over delivering?
  13. Also the site was colocated with Phase 1 B41 that should have been completed in September but i couldnt get it to connect o b41. I was hoping i could get data on b41 and it would have ecsfb.

I've noticed a couple band 41 sites in donut mode in DC today so that could an issue for you but idk
