  1. I'm strictly talking the extended 3G/LTE, for the good stuff. Not stuff that hits the roaming bucket. However, on VZW I do get data. I had it last week for an hour and got 140Kbps on my speed tests in Alabama.
  2. Yeah, Sprint hasn't done any coverage increase. Native roaming has expanded WAY more then Sprint has in years. Though honestly, I'm fine with. It's slowly coming online, expanding coverage which offers speeds and coverage Sprint can not out do. Supports small regional operators, blah blah blah. I like it.
  3. When I was in Huntsville, I got B41 twice. Unless SCP was playing tricks on me (I wouldn't doubt it).
  4. I know right! I wonder why they are only deploying that is pretty limited considering the available technology. I guess once they go with Config 1 it'll provide up to +200Mbps. This gear is like NEW NEW, had just a single carrier online and I was able to pull 60Mbps off it. So having 200Mbps capacity should last a while. Just they have more than just 40MHz worth of 2.5GHz spectrum and this stuff isn't even 4T4R. When all the other carriers have 3~5 antennas per sector, Sprint goes "cheap" on their second antenna. But hey, if deploying these small units allows them to deploy to 2 or 3 additional towers at the same cost as something like the 8T8R gear, I'm all for it.
  5. Was at Oakwood University in Huntsville today. Saw a 2nd carrier on B25. Got 11Mbps on it. Also send like I got a couple whiffs of B41. Overall performance was bad though. B26 was no better than B25, only 1x was penetrating buildings, and my phone would get hung up on 3G. Had to do the old airplane toggle trick to get LTE back. Between Chattanooga and Huntsville was successful VZW EVDO roaming. Farmville going to be an LTE roaming provider?
  6. Honestly, the Feds or someone like Google need to just purchase that and add it to WiFi. Give us Channel 14 dang it! 2.4GHz could REALLY use it.
  7. That's a dumb article really. It's all over the place. Says they don't have fiber but Sprint has spectrum. It doesn't really say Sprint has fiber or that Sprints spectrum will be backhaul. TMobile uses unlicensed mmWave backhaul which can easily provide multiple Gbps. Everyone is deploying MIMO equipment. Whether it's used right now or not doesn't really matter. Massive MIMO is different, and I'm sure everyone has this in the labs being tested.
  8. SouthernLINC Wireless; No nTelos Wireless; Yes C Spire Wireless; Yes Nex-Tech Wireless; Yes Flat Wireless; ? SI Wireless (MobileNation); Yes Inland Cellular; Yes Illinois Valley Cellular; ? 9. Yeah, I noticed that too as well as Inland Cellular's LTE in East Washington and Idaho. Last month or two Appalachian Wireless LTE went Extended. Pretty nice really. Solid path towards LTE expansion. Where is that list? Need to start checking off the LTE roaming partners list who have LTE active on Sprint.
  10. So, prospects of Sprints 5G... Will their TDD config change be the light to their 5G deployment? 8T8R gear at with 3xCA, 4x4MIMO, 256QAM and Config 0 is it? Gets Sprint what to, 897MBps? Or maybe that 4th carrier to get them past 1Gbps.
  11. In my market, VZW just installed a slightly more rural tower. Well used to be rural, but subdivisions are invading the cow fields. They only installed 2 antennas per sector. Antenna's look the same as to the middle antennas in your second jpg.
  12. It started out the same. Last year ended poorly. Lets hope that this isn't a repeat. Inflate CAPEX for 2017 to please investors, lower it every Q after. I would no be surprised to see this happen. Sprint has extremely expensive notes due in 2018.
  13. Shouldn't it being like free be plenty of compensation? The incentive is a free boost to 5 bars. lol Im going to guess it consumes 20watts, but lets just say 20watts. I think the radio is just 2watts? 20watts * 24hrs * 365days * $0.12/kWh (national average) is $20 for the entire year. But I'd imagine that it consumes a lot less than 20watts. This relay probably costs like at least $150. On top of $60~$120 bill credits per year!? I can understand a little more when they use your internet as backhaul, but with this being free, optional, and a relay...
  14. Good thing most decent TVs deal with this shortcoming.
  15. Thanks for sharing! I've been eyeballing sets but mostly the Samsung K8000 and an equivalent Vizio. Can't go less then 65" @ 4k the distance the couch is from the TV. Solid TVs, but more entry-level high-end. But if TVs get Freesync, Whatever you get, take some pictures! Also, what kind of store is ABT like? Never heard of it.
  16. smallnetbuilder.net is a solid resource. I recently got my mom a TP-Link Archer 2600 that was on sale for $100. I was extremely impressed with it. Even supports MU-MIMO. Not sure if this one supports VPN stuff or not. Though a lot of routers have VPN capabilities, you only use the VPN functionality when you are not on your network. Say like at a coffee shop, it allows you to VPN to home home router to give you a more secure connection on the coffee shops wifi. Though you can't go wrong with Asus or Netgear as well.
  17. Yeah, lots of LTE roaming already from CCA partners. Sprint will fill the rest in with VZW/ATT roaming deals. With Sprint roaming on AT&T, they might be working on getting ready to add CCA partners to their coverage who never went with CDMA technology and/or are fully LTE only. That'll add a lot of roaming partners. I think it would be great if Sprint shuts down 1x/EVDO on PCS when VZW shuts down CDMA. Should give a boost/strengthen to their PCS coverage. Lot of sites could boost LTE power and go full 4T4R. Keep 1x800 for legacy and fallback.
  18. Yeah, love my Chromecast. I have the Fire TV Stick, thing is garbage. For 4k, the Chromecast Ultra is $20 cheaper than the Fire TV and it supports HDR.
  19. That is why I am still a customer. I left VZW a while ago cause I had 4GB bucket and Sprint had unlimited data for way cheaper. Got LTE everywhere I needed, and offered talk/text roaming to the areas I go a few times a year out in the sticks (VZW roaming). Didn't do TMobile cause they just started their LTE push and had zero roaming in many places, let a lone coverage at my house. Things have changed these few years. Sprint has a lot of B41 in the area. Speeds are still great. 1x800/B26 went live so coverage improved, increased 3G/LTE roaming agreements I now get LTE roaming in those places I go a few times a year. So even though VZW has unlimited again and TMobile coverage is way better, I still have the lowest bill I can get directly on a major carrier, have service all the time, data all the time, and have improved LTE speeds and coverage. Been no point for me to change.
  20. You'll never get a good imagine in store, even if they bother to properly calibrate it. It's too bright in those places, unless you are putting your TV in a sunroom, or room with similar lighting that is for some reason always on when you watch the TV. Sometimes they have those dark rooms, but usually only have a couple TVs in them. If you bought the TV at Black Friday, should still be under warranty, no? How bad is the imagine retention? I'm on a 7yr old Plasma, it has imagine retention but goes away fairly quickly still. I kinda doubt QLED is worth the price premium. Doesn't really seem to improve on LEDs weaknesses. Go for the K9/K8 maybe? All the TVs you are looking at are solid, but where are the fine areas of concern? They all should be at least 10-bit panels. If not, remove them from your list. Any of them happen to be 12-bit? If you keep TV for a long time, that could be the route to go. If you game, get the one with the lowest input lag. If you watch movies, get the one with the best blacks maybe. You watch a ton of sports or action films? Get one that handles motion the best. If you care about HDR, get the one with the best HDR. If you hook up a PC, do they all do 4:4:4 Chroma? Any of them do 120Hz at 1080p? Etc. Do you need 3D? Are any of them promising HDMI 2.1 support when the spec is finalized later this year? Going with the cheaper set on your list is always an option too. You are in the price point area of diminishing returns per $. Get the model right below the top end model maybe even. Usually the difference there is indiscernible. Also, when is the next TV expo? I think a dynamic refresh could be a big possibility. With the next Xbox One supporting Freesync 2.0, I'm hoping we get it in TVs. I also know you are wanting to kinda have a new topic here, but with what you are looking at, it might be too high-end/technical with the differences? Might be a better topic suited for AVSForum if you are really wanting some solid advance. Doesn't really seem like you are just wanting to BS around about TVs but looking for some solid advanced technical advice on what is best to get from people who have experience with the sets.
  21. Oh, well the coverage map has always been bad. I did forget about this. Small, bad colors, map outdated in places. The guy here who made the new one is freaking awesome. And yeah, mix of old styling and new is just personal preference. Can't knock that too much. It isn't like the website looks like it is ancient or cheaply designed. After all, navigation and functionality are the key aspects and I find everything I need. Plus they made a great edition to their online bill viewing.
