  1. From what I could tell from that episode, I saw several m7's and iphone 5s's but I didn't see anything else that looked like an m8.  Now there was that one scene where Bauer gave that a girl he was helping escape a phone and that device kinda looked like an m8 but it was tough to tell.  It did have that gunmetal color and it also had that rounded edge like on the m8 but they never showed the back or the front of that particular device.

I am just happy that 24 and Sprint continued their relationship. Hint, sprint is all over the original 24 series.

  2. Really weird behavior out of sensorley as of late. I get more wifi samples then either 4g or 3g even when I drive on highways with little local development. I have been able to repeat this behavior several times. Anybody else seeing this?

  3. Sorry but what many of you seems to forget that Sprint has burned customers twice, not once but twice and technically 3 times.

    1. The Nextel merger..nuff said on that

    2. the Xohm/Clearwire 4g non roll-out. The premium data charge and the promise of Wimax coming to cities that never happened. Plus Wimax service that didn't even work indoors and murdered your battery.

    3. The slow pace of the LTE roll-out because Sprint network had to be rebuilt because it was neglected for over decade in some parts. Now towers are being updated and it's knocking subscribers offline for days to week with no data access. In addition even if you own a LTE smartphone unless it one that came out recently your LTE  experience will still be bad. Telling a subscriber to buy another Smartphone for another upgrade to your LTE network, because the LTE Smartphone you bought won't get the better LTE signal, even though you never had LTE service in you city to begin with is another slap in someone face.

You guy need to learn the word empathy. I see it on all other web sites(androidcentral,The verge, DSL reports) when people vent about their Sprint experience. Normally it's not good. Some Sprint apologist goes ape @#@ and tries to discredit them or brag that they get Spark in their area. People have a right to vent. the paid for good or service and it didn't meet their expectation.

Sprint situation is like BlackBerry's, the name is toxic right now to many people, regular people. Once the network is complete than maybe it will be the time to shout to the heavens, but right now past subs and present subs are not to cool with the idea regardless who is in charge because the only name they know on the bills is "pay to Sprint".

All other websites allow for ranting and venting. This one does not. What you need to realize is that this website is populated with longtime Sprint customers. There is no other single group of people who have experienced the ups and downs of Sprint. There is nothing that you can add to that conversation so don't bother.

  4. There's a big difference in legality between the two. It's not illegal to drive the speed limit in the left lane (in fact, it's illegal to exceed it), while many states do have laws to keep right except to pass. I should be able to safely use the left lane to pass without exceeding the speed limit, but drivers who take the law into their own hands selfishly make this impossible to do. And "that's the way it is" doesn't excuse the behavior.

Left Lane Larrys also assume that nobody needs to get somewhere faster than they do. Sometimes people have medical emergencies while in their private vehicles. Sometimes emergency vehicles have malfunctions with their lights and sirens. Its just good practice to clear the left lane when not passing.

  5. He's said as much, if you read between the lines. He says that two smaller competitors cannot take on their two larger rivals because finances will never allow it. If we want more than two fully national providers, we will need to make a change, like allowing a merger/buyout. If we are happy with the status quo, two big and two little, then leave things the way they are.

I think the question that is the most profound to ask is this...which would AT&T and VZW prefer? I believe it is a resounding NO MERGER. And then you all have to ask yourself, why would the duopoly be against a merger. Because they'd be scared that they truly would have someone other then the other to compete against.

AT&T numbers have shown they have largely deflected the Uncarrier moves, just by simply lowering prices. Why go to inferior coverage Tmo if AT&T is the same price? Tmo and Sprint are just taking the same customers back and forth. And that's the way it will always be until someone can really start to take on the duopoly.

Tmo or Sprint could take on the duopoly organically. They don't have to consolidate. But it's much harder. And will take much longer. And take lots of capital. And it may take longer than most investors are willing to wait for. CCA is their best bet apart. However, VZW already is buying out a CCA member. How many have they bought the last 4 years? How many more will they be able to buy out? All of them, maybe?

I understand what you are saying, but I fear that what Son is proposing may torpedo both companies and we end up with two national carriers. Softbank has approximately 60 billion in debt after the Sprint acquisition. If we use the over inflated number that ATT value T-Mo at then Softbank would be at approximately 100 billion in debt. They currently have a net debt to equity ratio of 4.6 A debt of 100 billion would send it close to 9.0 This really bothers me. http://www.softbank.jp/en/corp/irinfo/financials/results/highlights_02/

  6. I don't know that it will be Sprint borrowing the money or Softbank. If Softbank, they can afford it since they will be getting a lot of money from their Alibaba holdings.

I am more concerned with a breakup fee.

It does not matter who borrows the money. It still ends up as Softbank debt. I have to look up the figure but Softbank already has an enormous amount of debt. I would be concerned with an additional 40b in debt.
  7. I am totally for this merger because of the two reasons given above: It is extremely expensive to have/deploy/upgrade a nationwide network and the big two suck so much of the profit out of the industry that it leaves the other two scrambling for scraps. I like the fact that T-Mobile has little debt.

There will be some divestiture/swapping of spectrum, possibly to Dish (possibly EBS) and then hosting of Dish's fixed network.

The big holdup will not be how much spectrum the new company will own but whether it will bid in the AWS-3 auction.

For those of you that think that the merger will have any effect on the deployment of NV 2.0, don't fret. NV 1.0 will be substantially complete this summer and by the time this merger closes, NV 2.0 will be well on it's way. And do we really care which frequency band is providing prodigious bandwidth? All we care about is that it is prodigious and it it everywhere we need it.

As far as the leadership going forward, I am afraid that it will be the T-Mobile team. They have shown that they can execute a plan a lot better than Sprint's team or at least give the impression that they do execute faster.

From an investing standpoint you should keep an eye on the debt that would be incurred if Softbank buys T-mobile. Anything near the ATT bid of 39 billion should make anybody pause.

  8. Why so?

I still fail to see how this merger makes Sprint a better company. I think the money is better spent building a better company and driving t-mo into the ground to the point that if you want to buy them then you can get them cheap. Also consider this, Sprint would inherit all of the well documented shortcomings of T-Mo along with the alleged data whores who left sprint for t-mo.

  9. I wonder if there has been considerable Nexus pushback from Android handset OEMs.  Basically, they get to manufacture high end handsets for Google, which then sells them at a cut rate, thereby undercutting the OEMs' own branded flagships.  Like it or not, Google, unlike Apple, needs the triumvirate of Samsung, HTC, and LG.  Otherwise, Android is in deep trouble, since Google's full vertical integration via Motorola did not last long at all.

    AJ

On top of that AJ the Nexus line was always meant to push development of Android. Perhaps Google feels that they have accomplished that. I also heard that Google owning Motorola caused issues with the OEM's. I would not be surprised if the promise to sell Motorola and a bigger piece of the "Nexus" prize kept the OEM's happy.

  10. Although it's not something I commonly tout, I am paying $50 per month less for 4 lines on AT&T than I did with Sprint. Granted my phones are not subsidized and I have a data cap. But it does go to show how much AT&T has lowered pricing. The same plan a year ago would have cost me $50 more per month than Sprint.

Sprint has already played the price game and gotten bad press and lost customers when they tried to correct the price issue so I do not think they will go much lower then they are right now. However, they can certainly add value to their plans. Free hotspot comes to mind. They should also enter into agreements with other companies like GOGO for wifi coverage. Heck, maybe even purchase gogo  In fact, the only thing that ATT customers have that makes me jealous is AT&T's wifi network.

  11. Just because nothing is perfect here are my issues with the M8.

I think somebody mentioned before about the auto brightness setting in direct sunlight. He was right. It seems as if the sensor has some calibration issues.

Swiping settings in the upper right hand corner is driving me crazy because my finger always brushes the camera and the metal before it hits glass. I know its nit picky but the feeling is a bit weird.

Probably more of a kitkat problem but I will have to go into my contacts online and merge/delete orphans and migrate some contacts that are missing.

Disappointed that the bokuh effect cannot be used if you zoomed into the picture.

Battery is not that impressive until you turn on the battery saver.

    That's all I have

Speaking of the battery saver(this is a kudo) I took a bike ride today. Just over three hours with GPS, CardioTrainer, Sensorley and Music all running. I finished with 70% of the battery remaining. That's pretty impressive.

If you cant tell I love my M8!

  12. So we have to ask.. if the headline had read " Sprint CEO's pay is slashed, less than competitors" would that have caused the media or the public to look for favorably on Sprint's network or caused someone to stay or start new service? If what happened carries a negative effect with perception, does the inverse cause something better?

Sent from my SM-N900V using Tapatalk

Exactly. I really dont think the general public cares much about ceo pay when they decide on who their wireless provider will be.

  13. Check with @KarlBode.

Honestly, I don't think paying a CEO $46 million a year while his network's performance has been consistently last in every possible metric over the past few years is gonna be welcomed with a friendly high five by general public.

Did he close two major deals last year? Absolutely. But he also kept the guys in charge of network disaster for way too long, really until Masa came in and started trimming the fat.

Maybe so. But it is not for the public to decide. Unlike congress a CEO cannot give himself a pay raise. That is the domain of the Board of Directors.

  14. Also have 0005, still have a random drop in all signal. Will have the x above the signal bars. Edit: May have spoken to soon, back to it not wanting to connect or hold a signal. Sent from my HTC One M8

I wish I had an answer for you other than taking it back.

  15. I got mine from a store and have the connection issues. It dose not seem like it wants to hold any kind of signal. Edit: I done a ##72786# and it seems like that fixed it for me. I hope if not I'll take it to a store to get a new one. Sent from my HTC One M8

It might be interesting to keep track of these issues. I wonder if there is a hardware difference. I have hardware version 0005. Anybody have something different?
