I don't buy the there are less people mapping on other networks argument. There are a lot of rural areas that don't show on the map for sprint either. It doesn't take that many people to map the interstates those are usually mapped with one or two people.
You would buy the argument if you took a look at Verizon coverage on Sensorly.

Not a reflection upon you but on the Android Central commenter, this is what makes most people bad scientists, bad politicians, bad consumers, just bad critical thinkers in general.
Duluth could be the center of the universe. Or it could be the cold anus of Lake Superior. It does not matter.
Sprint could shower Duluth with the greatest wireless technology. Or Sprint could neglect Duluth forever. Again, it does not matter.
One sample does not a trend make. But that does not stop bad critical thinkers. They leap to sweeping generalizations based upon their limited, local observations.
AJ
THIS^^^^^ Qualifying ones comments so that they are not stated as sweeping generalizations seems to be a lost art.

I should have clarified, my analogy was akin to warranty coverage. If I took my car to the dealer while under warranty, the dealer would repair it and send the OEM the bill. Why can't this be different? I feel like the Sprint store is just trying a money grab for insurance and/or a refurb phone. I realize that Sprint and HTC may not have the same kind of relationships as the dealer and manufacturer, but it was just an example.
Because you are not going to the dealer. In the car dealer analogy, the dealer sells only models made by that company and are trained and updated on specific repair procedures by the car maker. To the best of my knowledge non of those conditions are present with any cell service provider. Having said that think they should swap out the phone and send it back to the manufacturer for repair. Besides, we all know that they maintain a replacement and re-seeler supply chain.

3000 is 3000 site's not touched,9398 with no 4g = substantially incomplete to just about everybody outside of this forum Sprint need's to wake up.
Wow. Did Sprint say that? Besides NV was not singularly about LTE and 3000 sites out of 40,000 is essentially complete especially if the hold up on those 3,000 is permitting and access issues. We all have known for awhile that there were some sites that would never be touched, never get LTE or the owners/communities were being obstructive.

Yeah, not really. The numbers are immaterial. As I understand your points, anybody who thinks that they could use more than 5mbps/down deserves to be mocked. If you put that up on a message board outside of the Sprint friendly confines of S4GRU, I assure you that I wouldn't be the one getting mocked.
What about tethering and/or hotspots? It seems like you're pigeonholing all users into the box that's most convenient for your argument. An 84 hp Chevy Spark provides enough horsepower for nearly all legitimate car use cases. But wouldn't you know it, some people still buy 450+ hp Corvettes.
Going to have to chime in here. What size work files are you using. They would have to be HUGE for 50 mbps to make a noticeable difference. Besides that you totally missed the point AJ was making and anybody who mocks him is also missing the point. 50 mbps indicates an underutilized network. So, would you rather have the constant usable 5 mbps or a network with significant peaks and valleys? Just to drive home a point, I work in public safety and we use Verizon's LTE network. As much as I despise Verizon it offers us rock solid performance even though it is far from the fastest network in my area if you buy the magazine results.

It was a sham last year and this year is no different. In Raleigh, AT&T may have the fastest speeds but they are third in coverage being easily bested by Sprint and Verizon.

This is a great PSA but does anybody know how it is possible to send out a mass text without having the phone numbers or consent?

Wow. Its kind of funny how just a few weeks ago all the tech blogs were buzzing about T-Mobile being cheaper than everybody else. Now that the intent to merge Sprint and T-Mo has all but been announced somebody takes a really close look and comes to the conclusion that T-Mo can be more expensive? Yeah ok. That opinion is totally unbiased.

I don't have the device anymore..but yes...
Yesterday, on my FIRST visit to the store...the sales rep -- not the store manager -- took my phone and said "this will solve the problem..." and he put it in CDMA only ...
Then, just when I came back with the speaker and phone to get a refund and go to another Sprint store up the road (which I ultimately ran out of time and had to stay at this "sorry" location and get a phone I wasn't really wanting....I told them when they said "it doesn't matter if you get another HTC 1 m8...it's gonna do the same thing....and i said " but you put the phone in CDMA only mode and said that would fix it"....their response??? That won't fix it either. It's something with JUST the HTC 1 M8..and it's ONLY in the Birmingham, Alabama area...and its affecting EVERY HTC One M8, and HTC One M8 HK ....
Wow at the idiots working in this store....and why do they care if I'm stuck in the second device for 1 year or not??? It's MY money, MY line, and MY device to live with...NOT THEIRS.
I hate to say it but it sounds as if somebody has a vested interest in pushing certain phones....or maybe they just dislike HTC and they are letting their personal preferences get in the way. Either way, that attitude is not acceptable.

Sprint rep in my area told me not to get the M8 HK due to issues with holding signal. Came here to sort out if this was just eCSFB or hardware not sure if I want this device yet. In my area I'm dealing with lacking/bad signal on 3g. 4g is just reaching out here. Was offered an airrave... No way won't help my calls in town. So is the Nexus 5 doing better with signal for now? I really want the camera and speakers my wife's m7 is killer.
Thoughts?
Most would agree that the N5 is the reception king. However, if the M8 is what you want I say go for it. My wife has an M7 and my M8 gets usable reception where hers gets no reception at all.

Since I got that speaker, I just wanted a new HTC. When I went to the store, an HOUR away, these people refused to swap my phone. They said they would be glad to give me a different phone, but said if I got another HTC one m8 it would have the same issue, and it was something just in our area. I was hot! I'm within fourteen days and shouldn't be forced into something different, so I left with the same phone I went in with. Came home, called, and the rep called the store for me. They told her "no we won't give him another m8 because it's a problem in our area and a new phone will have the issue too"
She said I should just get a refund and go to a different store, even though she agreed it sounded like a phone problem with my device. Long story short, I went back to the store, another hour drive up there, and because of time, I had to just get another phone. I'm so unhappy with Sprint right now but what can I do?
This store was very rude and I've never felt more unappreciated as a customer...no matter if there was a prob with all HTC one phones they should do what I wanted. Had I got another m8, then I could not take it back because I'd be locked, but now I'm locked on this gs5...all because they didn't want to do what the customer asked. I wasn't at all rude either, until I had spent 3 hours on the road because of them...still don't understand their line of thinking. Coming from a LG G2, I didn't have the prob..But I should have according to them since all new phones do. Even though the HTC wouldn't work on native band 25 or roaming either...and the carrier fallback has been patched in this area.

That sounds like a non-corporate store. Sprint really needs to do something about uneducated/non compliant retail outlets.

Imagine if they put that $$$$ towards network expansion and bit of marketing that is dumbed down for the masses. Simple commercials without all the talking elephants, giraffes, thugs, hippies, etc, just some average folks. People love maps so show them a map points all over with new coverage. Zoom into the point quickly showing some people posting/viewing videos, pics, listening to music on their phones with the quickness. Then you can adopt the Done. thing again. "More Coverage. More Speed. That's Sprint speak. Done."
This is what I have been saying from the beginning. Apparently it is a moot point now.

Yeah correct on b26. Usually quick to install. For another band 25 LTE carrier just evacuating the 1x/evdo carriers and fill in with LTE. Hopefully we see more band 25 LTE carriers pop up. Any one know how many 1x/evdo spectrum they need for voice/3g data? I imagine here they could sacrifice 10/30mhz for another LTE carrier. Given I have only seen one 1x1900 carrier, and one evdo carrier here.
Ugh. I meant b41 but I would have been wrong anyway. Looks as if band 41 requires new equipment.

Wimax was not a mistake. Nextel merger was.
I dont think Nextel was a mistake. However, there were better acquisition options.

Well they'd need new equipment for spark or they are waiting to light up more dual wimax/LTE equipment. Im not sure what it takes to turn in LTE on dual wimax/LTE clear sites. But maybe in some areas when they get 2 PCS carriers and band 26, they could be marketed as Spark?
IIRC band 26 only needs another card and appropriate back haul. Not sure what the hold up is on converting the wimax sites.
-
Well after looking at the invite picture it shows a cell tower, and lines connecting to different things. I think it actually may be network based. Possibly band 26 announcements, and future network enhancements coming. Makes sense based on what I see
Maybe they took a page from Verizon and updated a bunch of towers to Spark capability but they have not flipped the switch yet? Just thinking out loud.

That's the original. I just tried mine again and now am on 51101

Thanks. I'm on 51101 now.

My M8 has not updated and after 5 tries still doesn't. Nothing new here.

I would disagree with the notion that Sprints Rural coverage is not much better than T-mobiles. T-Mo is almost non existant. I usally do not have an issue with Sprint rural service as long as it is not a known non service area like the dakotas or wyoming.
-
Verizon and AT&T get plenty of hate ,but for their prices and policies not because of service. That is the sprint problem their service.
I think that is actually a good thing because it is being addressed. I am a firm believer that once Sprint fields a competitive product the so called tech journalist will take notice.

when was the last time you've been on a social network? It's crazy how much hate sprint gets.
I frequent the most popular sites all the time. I guarantee if you go on a site that has separate sections for each provider you will see the hate.
-
I think that's the nail on the head: the sooner Son/Softbank can get out from underneath the stink of the "Sprint" name/branding and into something new(er)/adapt the T-Mobile name/branding, they'll really start piling up new customers. Sprint is toxic online... and that's where a lot of people end up doing their research on carriers/plans/etc.
It's almost like Son needs Legere to pimp his ride.
I really think the negative connotation connected with the Sprint brand is overstated. If you make the rounds on the internet you will see that EVERYBODY gets bashed. While Sprint may take more than there fair share I don't think it has reached the point of the Sprint name being unusable.

Are there any opex changes then? Because wasn't part of Network Vision supposed to reduce opex by simplifying network structures?
Part of the savings was the projected reduction of towers in use. That portion of the savings will probably not be realized due to the expansion of 2500.

If you do a two year Contract on Framily plan, it is only a $15 charge on top of the $45, Correct? SO isn't that cheaper than paying for your phone ever two years? Given you will not get yearly upgrades. I have the nexus 5, and pay 15.67 a month for easy pay on it. I actually cut my bill being on a framily with 9 others, so Easy pay cut my bill, but I couldn't wait another year and a half for an upgrade for a phone.
Different payments for different phones. For instance the HTC M8 and Galaxy S5 are about 28 dollars a month while the iPhone 5c is about $22 a month.

In case anybody is interested the P25 project is underway with no major issue reported thus far that I know of.
