  1. I wasn't being general at all. I was speaking about a very specific group of aggressive Tmo trolls defecating all over FierceWireless article comments. And that is my feelings about that very specific group of people.

And maybe I don't travel out of my own forums very often, but I typically see on Sprint topics folks explaining what Sprint is doing rationally and intelligently and then a whole lot of attacks commence against them. The poisoned Hate-erade people be drinking is messin' up their minds.

Americans are getting so polarized. Our egomaniacal over valued self worth and opinion is crossing bounds that it even infringes on others to have an opinion. Even something as trivial as an opinion over which wireless provider they use. We are finding our identities in brands and life themes, persecuting people who think differently. It almost feels like we are socially devolving to some extent.

Exactly. It puzzles me why people become attached to one brand to the point that a criticism against that brand is taken personally. Nothing is perfect. Even a loyal car buyer will admit that their car is not perfect and even give a nod to the "other guy" when they do something cool. What we see now is just getting ridiculous. We cant even have an intelligent discussion in this forum without somebody going to another forum using unflattering terms in refeerence to s4gru simply because we like to deal in facts and not hyperbole.  :(

  2. RE: Stocks

Im not sure if its a good time to jump in guys. Sprint was really overvalued because of the merger talk. The current price is still above where they were 2-3 years ago.

The analysts expect that Sprint needs to fight back with pricing. I agree, Ive said Framily was a ripoff since day 1. Right now, Sprint is the most expensive provider in many configurations, but is not providing the best network.

So lets say Sprint opens next week with new lower prices. Great for us.

    Not great for stock.

Disclaimer: I'm not a financial specialist at all.

It all depends where your target price is. I think Sprint has the potential to hit $25-30 a share in 3-5 years.

  3. Sprint's pricing(being nearly that of VZ and ATT) doesn't reflect their network capability on a national scale as a whole.  They aren't up to VZ and ATT standards yet.  They will have to lower their cost to clients(both business and residential) do get folks back.  once they get their first nv upgrades done with full lte coverage everywhere then their pricing at it's current levels will be justified.. :)

There is not a lot of wiggle room in price nowadays. I'm still convinced that Sprint needs to offer more value in their plans. It may also be time for Sprint to revisit a comprehensive customer retention program.

  4. Backhaul is(biggest) problem too slow adding it to nv 1.0 . Paying for 4g in your area you cant get yet ,biggest hurddle. Imagine going in sprint store and buying 4g phone , then go outside be on slow 3g paying high price .

I see the 4g fee in the wild about as much as i see bigfoot....they don't exist. Although i do hope big foot could exist, that would be pretty cool  :rasp:

  5.

Landline operations are VERY debt intensive. VZ has been shedding their more rural landline operations for years to reduce that burden.

Just trying to establish that there was a method behind the madness. So i guess Sprint saddled them with more debt than they could get in a sale. It was probably the right decision at the time but it has come back to haunt them. To add insult to injury, Centurylink is not doing to bad outside of its debt. http://ir.centurylink.com/QuarterlyResults.aspx?iid=4057179

  6. Sprint spun off their landline division to focus on wireless. However, there was a mistake in that plan. It's unfortunate too. Kansas City and Las Vegas were 2 of Embarq's biggest markets, and Embarq's was the largest ILEC in the US. Sprint should have kept them.

I still wonder why they would spin it off and not sell it outright. Or spin it off as a subsidiary. As it stands they gave it away, got nothing in return and lost the ability to add back-haul on their own in many markets. That ended up being a lose lose proposition.

  7. Show me a link or two from the FCC or DOJ that says that.

Lol. Been looking and can't find it. I guess I remembered incorrectly :)

I wonder why they shed it. I wonder if they saw it as a dying business. But then that would bring up the question as to way they did not cash out and sell it versus spinning it off into a company that did not need to maintain a relationship with Sprint. Fun fact...Hesse was CEO of Embarq before he became  Sprints CEO.

  8. This is an interesting turn of events and I think there is going to be a different announcement, such as a network sharing agreement with T-Mobile and possibly Dish getting involved.

Is there an easy to understand "How To" for buying shares online?  I've been wanting to get at least $1,000 worth of Sprint, just to get my feet wet, but have no idea where to start online :(.  I know fees are involved, but which one will cost me the least in fees and such?  Is E*Trade good?  Scottrade?

I use sharebuilder. If you opt for the monthly subscription there are no buying fees.

  9. We already knew police departments in some places had these devices, now we know for sure that Raleigh and Durham are as well.

Raleigh, Durham police using device that tracks cellphone data:

    http://www.wral.com/raleigh-durham-police-using-device-that-tracks-cellphone-data/13847158/#TlAv3hmi08ODdlWr.99

It looks like it gets location and phone identity information which is perfectly legal. But if it can read private data off of your phone then there is a privacy issue there. http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2013/12/08/cellphone-data-spying-nsa-police/3902809/

  10. So what? That's one of the sacrifices you make when you chose unlimited instead of a bucket. Plus then only people who'd bitch and moan are going to be people who won't have an issue tethering other ways.

As the plans are set up now, when you have a choice of unlimited then you pay more. There is no reason to think that  this type of pricing will not continue in the future. Good luck telling an unlimited customer who is paying more money that they should have less tethering data then a customer who is paying less. As far as tethering other ways I have been waiting for Sprint to put the kabash on that. It is just a matter of time.

  11. I don't see the issue. Letting bucket plans use their full amount helps them reach their cap quicker. Which in turn prompts them to buy more and make Sprint more money. Unlimited users have to realize that even being given a gig of tethering for free is generous.

The issue is when you have a customer with 3 gigs of tethering data. that means they can tether more than an unlimited customer.

  12. Add one gig of tethering to the unlimited plans for free. Make adding more painless and a fairly decent deal cost wise. Oh and the data bucket plans should have tethering for the full amount of their plan.

I like included tethering but you run into an issue when you only give 1gb of tethering with the unlimited plans and other plans get a tethering amount equal to their data allotment. I would just rather see 1-2 gb of tethering included with all data plans.

  13. That'd probably drive down ARPU but gain customers in a heartbeat, exactly like what T-Mobile is doing. Investors wouldn't be happy, but the company would return to customer gains again.

I believe that it is better for Sprint to offer higher value plans versus lowering prices.
