I've been having some issues getting 3g data since the update. I can't get any at all when in a weak area and sometimes none at all in a strong area. I've never had this issue in the same spots before the update. LTE is working fine. Anyone else experience this or have a solution? Also I haven't been able to get wifi calling to work. I keep getting an Authentication error, I chatted with sprint and she did something and told me to leave phone off for 30 min and that it will work... Well that didn't work.
I just looked at my battery usage today because I was down to 59% and I've hardly used it today. 34% usage is from the wifi calling app which wifi calling isn't even working but it is on. Anyone else have battery drain from this app?
No problems here with wifi calling being a power hog but I also do not have it enabled. I would also call back Sprint and ask them to provision your phone. It sounds like that's what they did before but I would call back to make sure.

Wait, we can enable/disable bands and change priorities now? Is that new with 4.4.3?
Yes... Didn't see the option till then...
Do you need to be rooted?

Was there a Sprint outage? last night I could not connect at about 2 o'clock in the morning.

I never want anyone's MiFi. Give it to me as USB, mPCI, mPCI-E, Ethernet, etc. That way I can more easily get it into my device of choosing instead of relying on their crappy routers and WiFi to do it. I'd purchase dozens of them if they had them available. I could probably move hundreds of them. They'd facilitate great OOB access to routers and other devices.
I prefer the Mifi because I can connect multiple devices at the same time. Not sure if this would resolve your criticism but you can connect some Mifi's via usb.

But your home Wi-Fi isn't one of them? That's what I'm not getting.

I just don't have the need to use wifi calling at home. I have a decent signal.

Well I haven't used an voip recently so not sure how much of a nightmare it could be but with wifi calling, once you turn it on all you have to do is verify the address of your location, sometimes manually, but most of the time your location will be automatically detected and all you have to do is press ok and thats it. In either case it takes at the most maybe a few seconds.
Oh, I dont mean on the end user side but rather on the 911 center side. If they are not set up correctly (ie E911) then they will not be able to locate a voip caller. I have also seen issues with actual E911 centers but that probably had more to do with end user not supplying location information to the service provider.

I will probably ONLY use Wi-Fi calling on my home network since that is the one I trust most. I'm not getting what you mean by trusted Wi-Fi network.

I have several password protected wifi networks that I use frequently.

Oh ok, based on your post it sounded like you had specific issues with the 911 requirements. But try it though, the voice quality is pretty amazing, better than when you are on 1x but not quite as good as hd voice.
I dont take any more issue with the 911 issues on Sprint Wifi than I do with any other VOIP service. Trust me, if your 911 system is not set up for VOIP traffic it can be a nightmare. I will give it a whirl next time I'm on a trusted wifi network.

What do you mean?
Yes, this^^^
If you read the faq on Sprint's website, you'll see that when dialing 911, it will always try a cellular signal first. If no cellular signal is available, it will then pull the address from the Wi-Fi calling setup for 911 location purposes.
Since my cell signal at home is solid why play around. I rather let my phone stay hooked to the tower. Just my preference.

Going to hold off on trying wifi calling at home after reading the 911 disclaimers. Next time I am on a wifi system that is not mine own I will give it a try.

So does this news confirm that North Carolina is free and clear now, or is this only in reference to squatters and not the public service usage?
Last I heard they are still testing to make sure everything is ok. I'm still trying to get completion that they have handed the keys to the kingdom over to Sprint.

I would love to get one of these, unfortunately the hotspot plans just aren't fiscally sensible to me.
6gig / $50 x 24 months for dedicated hotspot device, or on as needed via phone hotspot addon
If they had an available on-demand for 10+ gigs at $50 or less plan, I'd probably highly consider that.
It would be really cool if Freedompop carried it.

Hmmm. I would actually save about $20 a month at the 20 gb level.
-
It's all in your head.
Thats what people keep saying. Problem is, only one person has said it.
-
If they do merge I hope they use GSM so when we use unlocked phones it would be easier and supported bands from phones like the Oppo Find 7 or Oneplus One
Uggghhhh.

Is there an echo in here?

The current lte hot spot plans are $35/50/80. Usb stick lte hotspots and 3g hot spots have 50/80 plans.
If you can get them to apply new plans to old hot spots then you are better than me. Besides, he would have to sign up for a new plan. Not sure if they will let you go month to month.
-
At the outrageous price of 1GB for $10!
It might be your cheapest option. I have an old 3g MIFI that I tried to activate and Sprint would not give me a plan cheaper than $50 a month. If you go with freedom pop you have to buy the device unsubsidized.
-
Just use your phone as a hot spot. Make sure you turn the service off by calling customer service. Last I checked they will pro rate you for the month.

Awesome news... are you hearing thing from the cellular side (building out B26) or from the gov't side (leaving the B26 bandwidth)? I presume that if RDU gets going that MYR and CLT will too.
I wish it was from the cellular side.
-
Any idea on a timeline? B26 would be very helpful around here.
Very soon is all I can say. As soon as I get confirmation on completion I will post here.

is EVDO Rev B a part of Network Vision?
in Network, Network Vision/LTE Deployment

The easy answer is yes Seriously though, as I understand it you will drop to EVDO if LTE is oversaturated. LTE is also a more fragile air link vs EVDO so there is another reason to keep it around. We still also have 1xrtt which is slower than EVDO but has a stronger air link.
