  1. That sucks, I used to live in an apartment like that. But a data speed upgrade on a legacy site could be a T1 upgrade. I would imagine ripping and replacing an entire set of equipment on a hotel roof could be disruptive for its guests, so Raddison could be holding off on letting them upgrade fully to NV in a timely manner. That would be my guess. I'm still waiting on a tower on the north side of UCF to be accepted. Its had NV antennas and RRUs for 6 months now but I haven't noticed any new equipment at the base. I did notice they are building another brick equipment shelter at the base of the tower but from what I understand most new base station equipment for NV can be housed outside. And the shelter is pretty big, about twice the size of the ones that are already there. Who knows. I just hope I see it accepted by the time I graduate in May.
  2. Does it say data speed or capacity upgrade? I drove by there the other day and noticed it still had legacy panels. There's also a clearwire site co-located as well, I'm curious if they put updates to the clear network on the main coverage update maps on sprint.com now. PS at least you get 3G in your apartment lol. The all concrete structure I live in causes my phone to drop down to 1x. Needless to say I'm glad I have wifi. 800mhz can't come soon enough
  3. College? I'm still here? What?

  4. I'm not sure why Sprint hasn't made the Universal Studios area more of a priority, if I remember correctly the site closest to there is till legacy. COME ON BAND 41 / SPARK(le) UPDATE!
  5. If I remember correctly... On the recent root metrics report on network latency it showed both eHRPD and EV-DO performance, and EV-DO had better numbers. Perhaps there is a difference? I've been noticing better performance on EV-DO when my phone drops eEHRPD.
  6. See, someone like me who spends most of my time in the suburbs, I really have no complaints about the service and speed out here. Sure, data gets slow when I go to places like Woodfield Mall or the Loop but in aggregate I'm satisfied with the work they have done. Unfortunately Sprint was a victim of their own success with respect to the city proper. However for the most part I feel NV has been successful for us out in the suburbs. Hopefully by mid-year we will see more tri-band phones out there with the additional carriers deployed, and the problems in the city will be solved. I guess time will tell.
  7. Haven't been down there in a while, but this makes me wonder if another 5x5 carrier will be enough in the loop. Unfortunately many people do not have tri band phones and it will take at least a year or more for a significant percentage of subscribers to have these phones in hand to take advantage of the other bands. And when you take into account moral hazard, even if a secondary carrier does improve capacity to some extent, people will be inclined to use even more data once they see it starts working faster again and they may just end up right back to where they where. Obviously I hope this isn't the case, but anyone feel that this might happen if Chicago does get another 5x5 band 25 carrier?
  8. Will I run into any issues if I swap from my nexus 5 to my old GS3 and back again? They had a heck of a time activating it when I first bought the phone so I don't want to screw anything up. The reason I want to do this is because I can't seem to figure out how to flash PRLs on the Nexus 5 and I want to force roam on VZW when I go to Universal this weekend (Sprint is unusable there... Still -__-) hopefully when we get the spark update I won't have that issue if there is Band 41 available over there. Thanks!
  9. Looks like T-Mobile will now be covering early termination fees for family plan customers who leave their competitors early. Of course there are some strings attached, but it looks to be quite a pretty big move. Could this be the beginning of a much bigger price war than we've been seeing? 10. I know they are having capacity issues and poor SNR values but I'm talking about the problems they had during the initial NV upgrade. I feel like Orlando is in that stage currently
  11. Doubt it, but if so it would be a miracle. But then I would need the nexus 5 update to enable triband anyway, so it looks like I'll have to make due. Anyone know how long it took in Chicago for all(most) of their issues to be resolved after they launched the market there?
  12. Aaand now my phone is roaming on Verizon. Something is definitely wrong over here, I've never seen it this bad. I doubt they will bring in COWs, they never did for the football games..
  13. Why do half the girls at UCF have bitchy looks on their faces all the time?

  14. First day back on the UCF campus: LTE unusable, 3G worse than dial up and campus WiFi won't connect. Ericcson needs to step their game up hardcore
  15. That's good to know, thanks! So I'm guessing its still possible that legacy sites, either Sprint or SRA, could only be 1x? When I was connected to EVDO in the area I did notice really nice speeds as well, my guess of why I was seeing 1x only could have been due to the mountainous terrain. Was just curious to see if 1x only sites still existed on the sprint legacy network from my observations today. Thanks!
  16. Drove from Chicago to Winston-Salem today and I noticed along the way I ran into areas where I only received 1x data and also areas without eHRPD (just EV-DO). Is there legacy equipment still in operation that only supports 1x? I observed this mostly in West Virginia (nTelos) but also along the I-77 corridor from Beckley, WV to King, NC. (Also saw Carolina West as a carrier that was non-roaming). Are these areas that are supported by nTelos and Carolina West on par with the rest of NV or are they totally separate carrier partners? It was pretty interesting seeing all the progress along the way with respect to LTE. I had it all they way from Chicago to just past Dayton, OH. After that nothing until I got into Winston.
  17. I'm loving all this snow, it hasn't stopped since yesterday

  18. Something something Blackhawks something @timedperfectlee @Rachel_Homewood

  19. I get 1x800 all over, just not LTE on 800. I can actually make calls in my basement now, which is a huge plus. Ericcson is slacking with 800 unfortunately but Samsung has it together up here. MY THOUGHTS EXACTLY
  20. Crickets on this thread... How's Orlando shaping up since the launch? I've been in Chicago with my new Nexus 5 and I'm a little disappointed that I haven't seen any 800LTE yet. Got connected to band 41 LTE for a split second but NOOO it dropped back to PCS LTE pretty much right away. Anyway, I've been enjoying 25mbs + of LTE up here. Had a peak of 31mbs at one point. Looking forward to this in Orlando in the next few months!
  21. So I've been screwing around with my Nexus 5 for the past hour in my basement where signal is pretty horrible. I was able to catch band 41 for a few seconds while on LTE only mode, but no luck thereafter. Another interesting thing I've noticed is that signal check will show no connection yet my signal bar will still show an empty LTE triangle, giving the notification of very low signal strength. I confirmed this on the debug screen as having a -120 dBm ish connection on band 25.. Ran a speed test for the hell of it and I actually was pulling very decent speeds for such a weak signal! 4 down and 2 up. Very impressive considering my Galaxy S3 data would become useless around -113 dBm.
  22. My hometown is economically dying and it makes me not want to come back

  23. If they add another 5x5 LTE PCS carrier will that make for a 10x10 carrier in aggregate? or are they spaced apart from each other making them separate? I'm still learning about many of the technical aspects, so bare with me.. Thanks!
