  1. I will add to that I have never seen another Nexus 5 in the wild. But I have encountered dozens of iPhones and Samsung handsets in the same timespan.

Weird. Two people I work with have Nexus 5's too. Other than that I've met one other person with one. All three said they love the phone too. Didn't ask what network they use though

  2. I was at Woodfield Mall before that and got B26 when I was inside stores where B25 would cut out. Wasn't that crowded so the PCS carrier(s) did not seem to be overloaded which was probably why I stuck on B25 until the signal dropped. The network is working like a charm over here.

  3. Every-time I leave Chicago and return I am reminded how good we have it here. I know sometimes we gripe about poor performance at certain locations, events, or times of day, but we are very lucky to live in such an advanced NV market. I just returned from 5 days in the LA/Malibu area. Service was extremely sub par on all fronts.

Out in the suburbs the reliability of the network is on par or even better than Verizon I would imagine, especially with B26 coming online.

  4. They're really moving fast in the St. Louis metro. Almost all of the Metro East region of St. Louis on the Illinois side of the river is covered by B26 by now.

Awesome. Do you guys get to take advantage of the USCC second B25 carrier too? I've had it out here quite a lot.

  5. Here's my experience on the new modem:

As observed my many others, 3G and 1x signal has improved substantially. RSSI improves by at least -8 dBm across the board.

On .15 I would sit happily with around a -103 dBm signal on B41. On .13 I am on the fringe and the device constantly scans for other bands and signal will cut out as it is doing so. I am closer to a Clear B41 site than the nearest NV site.

Performance on B25 decreased marginally. I can get a fringe but usable signal inside my home on .15 but with the new radio I can only connect outdoors.

I do not have any B26 around my home so I have not been able to test this. Tomorrow when I drive to work I go thru some B26 areas so I may flash back to .13 and see how it performs.

  6. Just added it to my precvious post. Mind you that's with a pretty low connection. When I find a stronger signal I'll do a speed test again. I wonder how Waterford plaza is....

I'm curious if you get it on the UCF campus. It would have been so useful in the Business Admin building

  7. Both have to be on Sprint with both people needing a compatible handset. Also, and someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think they're isn't any cross-vendor compatibility for now such as, Samsung to Ericsson market calls.

    That's annoying. Oh well.

  8. There isn't a way to tell on an iPhone. You can access field test while on a call by pressing "add call" - dial pad - enter the field test code/press send. Chances are if you both noticed extreme clarity that you were in fact on an hd call. It's very obvious. I started a thread about this 3 months ago when I first noticed it on my 5s

    HD Voice

It was so clear, my brother even noticed. All I heard was his voice. Nothing else. No background noise. It might've been a really good connection, but I feel it was hd voice.

HD voice is one thing I have yet to experience. HD voice is only compatible with newer phones within the Sprint network right? Most people I call are not on Sprint and those who are have older phones

  9. I'm back on the Nexus 5 after a month on the G2. Have to say I prefer the Nexus 5, especially now that I figured out how to flash the .15 radio. I don't have to do any PRL tricks or whatever to pick up all 3 bands AND I rarely ever lose LTE now. It's pretty awesome, especially now that I'm not holding out on that Spark update as much as I was prior to flashing .15

  10. I kinda wish that b26 would show up over here too! Seems like they started at altamonte and just went straight down.

If it makes you feel any better, I don't have any B26 I'm my area near Chicago. And here they are rolling it out just about as randomly as they are 3G acceptances in your market. Picking areas out of their hard hats!

  11. I've noticed AT&T and Verizon sponsor a lot of events like music festivals, concerts and professional sports, much like Sprint does for NASCAR. Do we know if Massa/Sprint wants (or is going to) to expand sponsorships for events like these once the NV 2.0 rollout matures? I think it would be an excellent way to market the network and get back at Big Red and the Death Star.

  12. I've thought of this many times myself. I think they should do something like 5-6 bars = B41, 3-4 bars = B25, and 1-2 bars = B26.

Of course, bars tell very little of the entire coverage/capacity picture, but Sprint might as well make them accurate to a coverage degree.

I was thinking more on the lines of having the signal strength thresholds for B41 be more generous for the number of signal bars. Like 5-6: greater than -100, 3-4: -100 to -110, 1-2: -110 to -120, and 0 bars but still LTE less than -120. Probably keep it the same for B25 and B26 as those bands don't perform as well on the fringes given an average device.

  13. I've noticed that I am on B41 95% of the time at home with a pretty low but very usable signal around 105-120 dBm. Also noticed that the signal indicator is usually at 1-0 bars, even through data is working just fine. I think sprint should tweak up the levels (bars),of perceived signal while on B41, since it works well on the fringe. A regular user may have the impression of bad signal when showing 0-1 bars when in fact it works great (not really the case with 3G or B25). Just an observation.
