  1. Has anyone noticed a problem with the latest developer preview? I have only seen good things so far... very tempting...

My preliminary observation on B25 LTE connectivity is that is doesn't hold on quite as good. I generally got 4g in the 2nd floor of my house for a few minutes, and now it goes straight to 3g after I un-airplane my phone. This could be sprint tweaking though. I do notice my phone doesn't get stuck in 1x mode as often though.

  2. Finally got lollipop installed on my 5, loving it so far. :D

I installed it one my phone and my wife's phone over the old developer preview. Much improved! I'm excited to go try out B41 and see if the upload now works. I've never got higher than 0.00 on B41 and I hope it isn't my phone and was just the old android L.

  3. It seems like the launch strategy for this phone is from 2009

    - Anounce and then not release for months

    - Lock phone to prepaid or post-paid

    - Anger customers with odd pricing model that rewards customer a over customer b

Marcelo needs to meet with the hardware team and lay down the law.

I read that too quick and thought you were referring to network vision. Agree though that this could have been a better launch for the phone. I personally still can't get myself to buy locked phones anymore.
  4. Now as sprint goes back and activate 800mhz services and 8t8r the cost to upgrade sites are a lot lower since cell sites has the new base station gear which is supposed to save Sprint money anyways being that the equipment is new and modernized.

Excellent comment. Especially with B26, the cost is very minimal. Now that Sprint just started 8t8r,things should ramp up some more.

  5. Thanks...ill drive around in ewa later, ill pass by the old rail station by geiger rd,see if the tower theres has the 4glte...now debating if I should pursue switching to verizon for 4 lines or stick with sprint 4 lines

I vote for keeping Sprint! It's pretty obvious that Sprint is chugging along pretty quickly with Hawaii since they've started a couple months back. The prices are right and B41 and B26 are likely just on the horizon.

  6. So the initial results from the TMO comparison are in...Sprint M7 vs TMO M8

At my house, on my couch where I have to use an Airvana to get voice...

Sprint: couldn't even connect to get SpeedTest run

    TMO: 41.76 down

    At my daughter's high school...

Sprint: .19 down (yes that is a decimal before the 19)

    TMO: 44 down

At a spot I know I have "solid" LTE on my M7...

    Sprint: 6.17

    TMO: 23.7

At my desk (next to 2 windows mind you)

    Sprint: no LTE, eHRPD -86dBm, 1XRTT -96dBm

    TMO: LTE -100dBM

I think the writing for me is on the wall....my perception is that Sprint is getting its butt kicked in real world service in my area.

One thing to note though, Tmobile may be good in California (in the cities) , but when outside cities or in the rest of the US, TMO is Swiss cheese. A quick look at sensorly will show that.

I agree that OC for Sprint is not quite there yet (but I have noticed better results than you) but I have traveled to NC, TX, and San Francisco over the past week and my experience was significantly improved. B41 will help over the coming months, but B26 late next year will be a Godsend. I did note that your desk has a good signal strength so I would expect that once LTE is launched, you will easily achieve usable 4g. Unfortunately for me, I work at the nuclear plant near OC so I only ever expect roaming. Had I had T-Mobile though, I would have no service because their roaming deals suck.

  7. Sprint proposes to modify its wireless telecommunications facility located at Tecalote Drive. Lot 7 (Pala Mesa C. Club), Fallbrook, CA 92028. The modification consists of adding 4 panel antennas to the existing 2 antennas to bring the total antenna count back up to the 6 antennas entitled. Sprint also proposes to add 4 RRHs. (1) 2' MW dish, 1 equipment cabinet, and 1 Top Hat cabinet extension

I noticed this today while performing a permit search. Is it rare that they are installing a microwave dish? Is this possibly a new direction for Sprint if fiber is hard to come by?

  8. I was surprised he didn't mention anything about B26. Also, other than his change to focus on specific sites that have the worst performing, it sounded like he wanted to focus on some cities for short term wins. This seems to indicate cities like Chicago would fit in thus list that have all three bands and second carriers activated so they can add customers.

  9. Very disappointed in the data and voice connections i got in Disneyland yesterday. Slow downloads and faint signals. Sometimes would pick up LTE, but only lasted for a few seconds. Signals non-existent inside the Indiana Jones line. . Worst part is the poor signal drains the battery of the LG G3. This was my first trip with a "Spark" capable of phone, but I saw no improvement over my S3 galaxy, from a couple months ago.

    Orange County needs 800 LTE

Although I do agree that we need 800 LTE, all the sites surrounding disneyland have not yet been upgraded to NV and Band 41 is not yet fully activated. Once those things are addressed, I'm sure your experience will be a lot better.

Your experience in California Adventure should be much better than the disneyland side.

  10. I hope you met the criteria to switch or your in for a nice surprise. Your account has to have one of the following or there is a $25 penalty fee.

    1. Have one line on easy pay.

    2. Have one line out of contract

    3. Have one line upgrade eligible and get a phone with easy pay or msrp

    4. You added a line.

I knew about this which is why I specifically asked about the charge and he said it doesn't apply unless I get a subsidized phone during that period. I hope he is right or I may have to call Sprint and try and work it out.

  11. Here in Phoenix I find that Band 25 LTE is unusable once you get past -110dBm , where T-Mobile Band 4 works well even at -115 dBm I'm not sure if this is a 1700 vs 1900 propagation issue, or a tuning difference.

    This could be the reason:

  12. It's such a shame that Verizon treats roaming traffic like a 4th-class citizen. When Sprint customers are roaming, we only get 1X. Basically, roaming on Verizon is good for a phone call or SMS and that's it. Data is just about useless. haha

True, but without NV activity, this 1x is typically faster than Sprint. I death grip my phone or hide it under my desk so I can roam and actually use it at work.

Same thing with edge. On the way to vegas, the only way to listen to my podcasts is to use edge vice non-upgraded sprint network.

Once Sprint performs upgrades though, I am a very happy camper. Most of the remaining upgrades are roads that connect cities.

  13. Dan did Sprint commercials.

I thought the Dan Hesse commercials were good but at the wrong time. It was near the financial crisis and he acted like the wealthy 1%. Even the location was filmed in an area that looked like NYC which reminds people of wall Street. As a side note, I have no problem with people who make money, but think the vast majority of Sprint customers might.

  14. I wish Sprint came out with some non-unlimited plans but have no overages, just slow your data. For example, when I told my wife who is on Tmobile about Sprint's new unlimited plan for $60, her response was, that's $10 more than my unlimited plan. She said that because she says all Tmobile plans are unlimited, just super slow when you exceed your data cap. I don't need unlimited myself, but I would never go to a plan with overages. Therefore, I don't compare Sprint's $60 plan with T-Mobile's $80 either. I compare it to a non-unlimited plan on TMO.
