  1. Well, it's almost the end of Aug, and I really don't see any more updates for the Madison area.  Data is still very rough on the West side of town (research park area).  Downtown it's non-existent.  I wonder if Robert has heard anything when work is suppose to be done in Madison.....

Yea work has seemed to just go to 1 tower every week or two. It really does not seem like work is ramping up at all. Not sure what the issue is, although i have heard ATT has been extremely slow to getting backhaul to sites. Would be nice to hear from someone that has info on why work is taking so long, we have seen many towers in the market with NV equipment on it but are not active.

  2. A coworker who lives in west allis near state fair could not connect her iphone 4 to any 3G the last couple days. She called Sprint and they said the tower on 66th by state fair was "down". All traffic routed to 43rd street, but that tower is overloaded. I also noticed lots of 1xRTT and EV-DO the last couple days. I have to toggle airplane to get EHRPD, otherwise it goes to EVDO. Must be working on something around here.

  3. Tell me if this makes sense:

i was sitting at my uncle's house today and i had around a -98ehrpd signal. I thought i was in range of the west allis LTE tower but was not getting the LTE signal after doing all cycles and prl updates, so i figured i was out of range. All of a sudden LTE rings in at -109. The funny thing is i kept losing the LTE because the ehrpd signal was stronger. The only problem was that ehrpd was unusable which is pretty much expected of 3G in milwaukee. so frustrating.

  4. I have had 2 instances so far in the last couple of days where my Evo has picked up LTE for a split second and then i lost the signal. Both locations were areas where there is no LTE tower nearby. Might be testing or possibly picking up a VERY faint signal from an LTE tower farther away. Both signals were around -125.

    1st location was 3031 W Montana St., Milwaukee 53215

    2nd location was 220 E Sunset Dr., Waukesha 53189

  5. That HAS to be coming from that goerke's corners site then. Maybe they were doing testing last night. I'm going to stop by there after work today and do all the airplane mode, prl update, and profile updates I can and see if I can connect too!

I mapped the waukesha tower on 59/Arcadian and can confirm the signal at Goerke's corner is not the waukesha tower. It's the brookfield tower.

  6. Oh, it certainly is, but what fun is there without a genital waving contest?

On the serious side, the main benefit is that you can have more people doing normal traffic. You aren't as likely to notice congestion.

It's more than just a I'm better than you type of situation. It's perception and marketing. The only way Sprint gets more new customers to their network is to show what it is capable of. Do you think someone would want to switch to a lower speed network? In most cases for all of us here on the S4RGU, its more about capacity and not having your network bog down when the network is saturated. The general public does not get that fact, and to be honest, it would be nice to say that you are on a better network instead of feeling like a third step child. Meh...my 2 cents.

  7. It was a basement, but the site is on the roof of the building. In my room, I can't seem to get above 43Mbps DL/18Mbps UL. However, I'm underneath the panels here. Maybe I should try the balcony? If that doesn't work, I'll walk a few blocks and get in front of the panels...unless I can get on the roof. ;)

    Question:

Did you try connecting both your laptop and the Note and perform a speedtest at the same time? I was just wondering if 2600 might be throttled. Sorry if this was covered before in the thread...its really long!

  8. We got severely delayed by a car accident/construction mess in Colorado Springs. We are checked into the hotel and my wife and I are even have a drink together for the first time in years.

Down in the basement lounge here I'm still getting a respectable TD-LTE 2600 signal and good speeds.

    More testing later...in the morning.

Wow...pretty decent signal for a "basement". Can't wait to see what results you get today with the USB to Laptop connection.

  9. 4G is coming in consistently on the east side of Waukesha. The past couple of days it was spotty and slow, but this morning I was getting 15,000+ down and 13,000+ up. Will post pics later today.

Good to hear. Im near South High School and am a little out of range of the tower. Hopefully more Waukesha towers go live next week.

Is anyone going to State Fair today? Im wondering if that West Allis tower is close enough to get a signal. I guess i will find out tomorrow when i go.

  10. Ok guys...i can confirm the Waukesha tower is broadcasting a decent LTE signal. I just took a drive and did some mapping along 164/59.

Let me start off by saying it was a task just to get LTE to show up on the EVO. I started sensorly and LTE Discovery app before i came within range of the tower. I was at the intersection of Racine and 164. No LTE. I did notice that my signal was around -80 as i came up to the intersection, but i think i was connected to a different tower. As i went north on 164 going towards the dealership/aldi's/cousins i took a right on to Pearl street. I sat in front of Cousins subs which is very close to the tower. My phone did not connect to LTE either. As i was sitting there i did a PRL update...DING DING DING...my phone started to freak out LTE cutting in and out...the phone kept beeping signaling LTE. The funny thing is it never stayed connected. Here is a screen shot showing 3 connections at the same time. Talk about glitchy. The EVO is the single worst phone i have ever had...cell signal wise. Unbelievable.

Well since i drove all the way out here i also did a profile update. After the profile update my phone dinged signaling LTE. No EHRPD...just LTE and 1X. At this point i started driving seeing how far i could go before the signal cut out. I almost got to Mooreland rd and noticed -121 on the phone and did a u-banger.

I mapped quite a few points and am looking forward to seeing my purple show up on Sensorly tomorrow.

As i came back in front of Cousins i did a few speedtests. Pretty decent. Looking forward to more LTE going live.

The 7/20 test listed there is in front of Miller Park on the freeway.

  11. If it was the brookfield tower then they tweaked the signal a lot since yesturday cause it was not broadcasting that far along i94. It could be tho now causs that is a fairly new tower as well.

Yea i think its the brookfield tower. Just got done doing some mapping of the waukesha tower...i dont think it will reach that far with the hill-y terrain.
