  1. Same here. Trying to appease my appetite for Sprint NV knowledge for my market. I've thought about it, but really can't come to a solution that makes perfect sense. The Chicago market is pretty much done, so it's not a resource issue. Back haul maybe? AT&T has been jerking us around at work with contract stuff and my employer is not happy about the length of time for deployment of a new fiber line. I don't know man...it's like the cell phone gods are intentionally trying to screw us!

I know in the end that the wait will be worth it. In the mean time....I'm waiting for a triband device as my contract is up...

  2. I spoke to an acquaintance that works at the New Berlin Sprint Switch. He works for Ericsson. He confirmed that Network Vision is only happening in North Wisconsin Markets at this time.

I know him from when he worked for Sprint and we go to the same comic book store. I saw him at C2E2 in Chicago on Sunday and that's what he told me. Anything Network Vision related happeing in South Wisconsin is simply prep work. No real work on it has been done.

If this is accurate, I really hope when they start work they have enough resources to get it done fast. AT&T, Verizon, and even US Cellular have LTE here for Pete's sake! So frustrating...better light up 800 right away too!

  3. Just think Milwaukeeans (Milwaukeeites?), with all the people leaving Sprint in droves in SE Wisconsin, you'll have the new blazing network all to yourselves!

I cannot make any excuses for Sprint in Milwaukee. They are just plain late. Much later than originally planned. And since it is a Samsung market, it confuses me. Samsung is the most aggressive of all the OEM's. They are already starting or started some 4th Round markets and plans to be starting all markets by early Summer.

Why does Milwaukee continue to languish? I don't know. It's painful to watch from here. There has to be a specific problem there preventing a start. I'd love to know what it is. I've reached out to a Samsung engineer who has provided us info in the past. Hopefully he'll have some info, even though he works on another region. I'll report back should I find out more.

I do believe early work has started in the market. But will not feel confident without you guys starting to see activity in the field.

I'm looking forward to hearing from that Samsung guy. Being a Sprint customer in the Milwaukee market is very frustrating...

  4. According to sprint.com/network, all the tower upgrades (except nv work) have been completed. Really hope all these data disconects are nv related.

I would assume the data disconnects are all related to NV. Other than terrible data speeds i have not had disconnect issues at all in my 8 years of having Sprint service in the MKE area.

  5. Just talked to a Sprint rep and he informed me that they are completing 3g upgrades on the towers in the area and that is why my data has been shady lately.... Won't be long before the lte work gets in full gear...

I would take that with a grain of salt. You will most likely find that there is more info on this site about upgrades than any rep knows about. I just want 800 coverage and LTE data so i can actually use apps without waiting, buffering, freezing, or failing to load.

  6. Yeah, my phone has started to consistently be on 1x and my data has been slower lately, when they are working on towers, does the phone performance get worse?

I watched the Chicago thread when they were receiving upgrades and network issues are common place with tower upgrades. I have been seeing some inconsistency as well with my signal where i would normally not have a problem. The issues i have been having could be from work being done to the towers. Time will tell. Lets hope we see our first tower come online with LTE...soon.

  7. ? Isn't the game already live in front of you?

There is an MLB At Bat app and MLB At the Park app that allow you to see recent plays, scores, pitch counts, and stream the gameday audio to hear Uecker that are available. Too bad it doesnt work at Miller Park. You get a strong signal but absolutely no bandwidth. I was at the game the other day and texts were not even going through.

  8. As far as a launch goes, that's probably pretty accurate. Likely the very first LTE signals will go live sometime in May or June. But it will take at least 6 months of deployment for a market launch.

That is what i have been thinking. I'm guessing 1 or 2 crews are currently active in the area with the ramp up starting mid to late summer. It would be nice to have LTE or hell just decent 3G for Summerfest, at Miller Park, and the Wisconsin State Fair this summer. Crossing my fingers.

  9. They were putting up new panels on the water tower in whitefish bay today. I will try and take a pic today. I don't know if sprint is on the water tower or the cell tower next to the water tower.

I saw this last week when i drove by Bayshore mall. Clearly can see new panels on the tower. I flipped airplane mode hoping i would catch some LTE but my luck is obviously not that great. When im over in Whitefish Bay again i will try and grab some photos and test airplane mode again. We should be seeing our first LTE in the area "soon".

  10. All right here are some questions i have...

I'm using the SignalCheck Lite app, and it lists my 1xRTT RSSI @ -92 , while my EV-DO is listed at -97 is it possible i have 2 different towers, 1 for 1X and a different for EV-DO? If not, why the difference in signal strength? Does Sprint have EV-DO deployed on all of its towers currently?

Also, assuming i was connecting to a 800 SMR tower for both 1X and LTE...would i have *roughly* the same signal strength for both?

What is also on my mind is that Sprint seems to have more issues with obtaining signals versus other wireless providers...how is a Tri-Band device going to perform versus a single or dual band device? wont there be more issues with trying to connect to the cell signal? Will most towers only get 2 bands?

It bugs me that your smartphone experience can differ greatly between device brands on the same network.

  11.

Even though the evo has its lte issues your experience is far from ideal for you to cast any judgement on how it will perform once an area is reasonably covered. In any event though, it does look like the htc one will perform better based on what we can tell so far.

My experience was not a result of bad coverage. I was standing in a spot with a full 4g signal and the phone switched to 3G as soon as I opened the browser. I had to toggle airplane mode to get it to switch back. Same thing happened over and over again. You would have to hope HTC would fix this issue in the new HTC One.

  12. I'm in Tampa for a week and when I landed I had LTE. Thing is...it is really hard to keep it from forcing 3G mode. I updated the profile and PRL. If this is how the EVO is going to be I'm definitely getting a new device once LTE comes to my hometown. Hopefully the HTC One will be a better LTE handset.
