  1. And that forward compatibility has not always panned out well.  Not to mention, the Clearwire acquisition is still up in the air.  So, tri band handsets may happen in the coming months, but I would not hold my breath.  What you basically can count on are dual band handsets, since both SMR 800 MHz and PCS 1900 MHz are under Sprint's direct control.

So are we assuming dual band devices will be coming soon? I wanted to wait to upgrade so i could secure an 800LTE compatible device. Im not concerned as much about the 2600 band clear wire LTE service.

  2. What are the chances that the LG Optimus G Pro (the sprint version with snapdragon 800) gets tri-band support?

Also...didn't sprint say they were goin straight to tri-band from single band? So a late 2013 tri-band launch would mean they have network support for a band (800LTE) before a device?! For the past like 10 years it has been sprint's MO to release a device with support for a nonexisting network band!!!!

  3. Why do none of my points show up in Sensorly????

I've been getting LTE right at Broadway and Bridge as well as Southtown and Beltline in Madison.

That a new tower? Still waiting for this weeks Completed Sites to be updated.

  4. Got the ONE over the weekend. Love it so far except. I only have 3G signal where I work and the ONE can not keep hold of the 3G signal inside the building. If I go outside I have no issues. The bad thing about this is that my old HTC EVO 4G held a signal in the building. The LTE works great at my house. Anyone have any ideas. Hope I don't have to return it. 2 other people at work have sprint and can keep a signal (galaxy nexus and older blackberry).

Did you perform a PRL and Profile update?

  5. Drove on 41 up to Appleton and back yesterday and was happy with speeds around Allenton. Went up to 29mbps! It seemed like the peak was just outside of the tower area, not direct at.

    Test Date: May 5, 2013 7:14:23 am

    Connection Type: Lte

Nice, how were the speeds while driving in the car? Im curious if i will have issues streaming Google Music on high quality while in the car.

  6. Just wanted to post and share, today at work in Stoughton I had an intermittent LTE connection, it came and went, but it was there.

It was probably the tower just south of McFarland on HWY 51. I would expect an extremely weak signal from that far away. Grab the SID and other tower info next time you connect and we can see if its the same tower.

  7. I think because Sprint is putting LTE on EVERY tower that the point is moot. The only reason these legacy networks are still a priority is because 1) not everone has an LTE handset and 2) LTE is not fully deployed yet. The funny thing is that all the other carriers besides maybe T-mo are not even putting LTE on every tower, which makes them even more dependable on the legacy networks. Sprint is headed in the right direction, and because they have LTE on every tower, will make them probably less dependent on 3G than any other carrier. Although, i have had a few beers so...what do i know. :)

  8. It was the farm and fleet in Madison...sorry...I should have stated that in my prior post. It was a blimp, nothing more than that....not on even long enough to snap a screen shot or to do a speed test

Ahh...got ya. I would assume other towers might be testing. It will be fun to see how many towers are accepted this upcoming week. If we assume 5 per week, there should be plenty of LTE for the summer!

  9. Pretty sure he was talking about Madison. There is LTE on the same road where the farm and fleet is located. Sensorly.com shows a faint purple streak (which represents LTE on the map) on the south east side of Madison, by the farm and fleet.

It looks like the tower is roughly 2 miles from the Farm and Fleet. I would be interested to find out if you get usable LTE in the Farm and Fleet building.

  10. Within the last couple of hours, I have been able to confirm that the new tower in Allenton, WI is now broadcasting LTE. It tooke about 10 minuets before I was able to connect. I rebooted my phone, cycled airplane mode. Just as I was about to give up, I finally connected to LTE. I have tried to do the road trip thing from Sensorly, but as of yet, I don't see it updated on any maps. The link here shows a speedtest that I ran while sitting in the park and ride lot across the freeway from the tower.

Nice! Keep us updated. I know I had trouble connecting in Tampa. Did you update your profile and PRL?

  11. And actually Sensorly running compounds that as the radio will be busy trying to send up 3G points instead of scanning for LTE. My typical thing is to run the LTE Discovery in "Cycle only when not connected to LTE". Fire up Sensorly, hit Map Trip, then start. Then I go to the LTE Engineering screen. Hit split screen and put the Sensorly map up so I can watch the serving cells and the map/point counters at the same time. So I end up with this and cycling airplane mode when I'm not on LTE.

Which app do you use to get the LTE and 1XRTT DB levels in your notification bar? Thats exactly what im looking for!
