  1. Another update regarding SMR 800 in my neighborhood:

Sprint's finally got it turned on near my mom's shop in the Bridgeport neighborhood! (Chicago) Now I'm finally getting to experience what SMR 800 is like in an urban setting, and I'll tell you it's just like having AT&T or Verizon again in that regard.

I can now make a call from the center of the building where as before I either roamed or just couldn't get a call out. I also now get about 2 bars in the center of the basement, and can successfully make a crystal clear call or send/receive texts. (Before it would be stuck on no service, and no calls or texts whatsoever)

Also as a result the signal strength doesn't fluctuate as wildly as it does on 1900.

That is awesome to hear. How is the Data/EVDO/LTE connection in the same place? Can you surf the web, send out emails, or do picture texts from that basement?

  2. Im heading down to Sarasota to visit my dad in late March. Hopefully i will get to experience LTE in Tampa for a short while before getting into Sarasota. Might see a tower or two when im there with LTE. Crossing my fingers!

PS. My dad lives just outside Sarasota and there is virtually no reception at his house. Maybe LTE on 800 will change that in the future!

  3. Very exciting. For anybody that is in a completed market once finished is data constantly working. When I am downtown in Milwaukee during rush hour my speech to text doesn't work which is making me think about switching to big red but if the nv will fix that issue I can wait it out.

Just get a Jelly Bean 4.1+ OS Android Device. Native on board speech to text. No network needed.

  4. So it sounds like Milwaukee will be getting some of its towers started with the NV conversion. I am in Waukesha and am wondering if they will start on the outskirts/suburbs of the metro area and work their way to the downtown area. Can't wait till i hear about the first confirmed LTE signals in the area. It has been a long time coming. Milwaukee only had a taste of Wimax with like 1 tower being converted.
