  1. So i took the summerfest shuttle from Meadowbrook Rd (HWY TT) & 94 down to the fest last night. As i was going past Miller Park, i tried to get my phone to connect to 4G. I have an EVO so it was no easy task. I must have cycled airplane mode 4-5 times. Nothing. As i was nearing the edge of the coverage area i did a PRL update. DING! Got 4G for about 10 seconds then lost the signal. Signal was pretty high around -127 so i didn't even bother with a speedtest. When i got down to Summerfest i tried to grab  4G again.....Nothing. I then did another PRL update. Ding! Picked up a low 4G signal again. From then on i was bouncing in and out of 1X, 3G, 4G, and no signal. On my way home from the fest around 11pm i tried to grab 4G from the Miller Park area again. Nothing...i did another PRL update...DING! grabbed a very strong LTE signal and proceeded to perform a speedtest. Pretty good ping and speed for moving at 70mph in a bus.

I am thoroughly convinced the EVO is a piece of trash when it comes to picking up LTE. I had the same exact issues grabbing 4G in Tampa when i was there in April. I shouldnt have to do a PRL update at every frickin tower to get LTE. This explains why i never pick up LTE during normal airplane mode toggles. Frickin rediculous...im getting a new phone as soon as a tri-band device comes out.

  2. Interesting; I had a much poorer experience on the parade route. On the north side of the route I was being pushed down to 1x, no LTE or 3G showing up anywhere. As I got closer to the Boystown area (by Roscoes) I was able to pick up LTE and it was *decent* speeds. I never ran a speed test, but I was able to load up Foursquare and Facebook after a slight delay.

Overall much better than prior years when I would end up roaming pretty much the entire weekend.

I wonder if the location was mostly the issue. Is it possible that the GS3 offers a better experience with LTE? I have never heard of issues with the iPhone5 picking up a signal.

***Hmm....looks like it could have been device related.****

  3. Alright, i am at work and the following happened. (using signal check pro)

    1. I usually get -93 to -105 signal at my work

    2. Ive been on eHRPD for the last 4-6 months

    3. I was walking in the building and noticed i was on EvDO with -88 signal

    4. Toggled Airplane mode quickly to check for LTE

    5. Signal locked on to eHRPD again...but the signal was -77 dbm!

    6. Signal dropped back to -98 a few seconds later

It sounds like a tower is being upgraded that is near to my work. I work at St. Lukes on 27th & Oklahoma.

  4. I really hate Speedtest.  If people really cripple a network because they are running Speed tests in the middle of a city, they are jerks.

Completely understandable. I just wish there was a way to lower the bandwidth required to run them. I mean, its in the very nature of people to want to know what kind of speeds they should expect considering how unreliable historical speeds have been. I usually run a speedtest if i am in a new area and have issues streaming google music. Maybe im one of the few people that likes to know what im dealing with technology wise. Obviously i would be more cautious if i had a limited bandwidth plan on another carrier. It's the abusers you have to watch out for...running multiple speedtests..daily!

  5. I'm so happy to have Milwaukee to start coming online. Many of you don't even begin to know how much I have endured from Milwaukeeans since the creation of S4GRU. In WiMax and LTE Deployments. I'm happy for you guys, and glad the death threats will finally end. But at least I didn't get actual bombs in the mail like the Detroiters.

Thanks for all the Milwaukee based information from the site Robert, it has definitely helped with the long wait we have had to endure over the years. What are the plans of S4GRU.com in the future? To be honest, i did not think the site was going to last as long as it has.

  6. Alright so it looks like Sprint is getting either a new Optimus G or the G Pro Snapdragon 800 variant, which i guess supports LTE Advanced. If it supports 800LTE i would like to pick one up. Here are some questions i have related to LG OG devices though.

    • How is LG with software updates?
    • Is the hardware good?
    • What issues have you had with LG devices?
  7. I'll admit. I'm a us cell customer who is thinking of switching to sprint and when I brought up sensorly on the forum we have, only ONE person decided to download it and run it. I map pretty much where ever I go that isn't purple though.

I have never been a fan of US Cellular. I especially do not like the fact that they claim national service when they actually roam for voice and data outside the 10 metro areas they natively cover. What a joke. Don't they have 850mhz frequency in Milwaukee? If so, that explains their "great" coverage. Wait till Sprint unleashes 800 SMR here...it's going to be a game changer. Now, if Sprint can just work on getting Miller Park, Summerfest, and State Fair covered with LTE...

  8. So i was at Miller Park for the game last night. I got out of work and was in the Target parking lot on Miller Park Way right at 5pm during rush hour. I was getting a decent 3G signal around -85dbm with a speedtest of 500Kbps down and 30kbps up. I thought this was decent for rush hour and my ping was 105ms. Again i was reminded why i dont like Brewer games, Sprint's service at Miller Park is still unusable. Once the game started my 3G would not even pickup, 1X only. Not usable at all. I barely got text messages out. My friend was sitting next to me who is on VZW with a GS3. His ping was 34ms, got 15mbps down and 3mbps up. I have decided that once all the NV towers are done near Miller Park, if i can not get even half those speeds during a Brewers game that i am jumping ship. Whats the point of paying my $70 a month to Sprint if i can not even use 3G for the At the Ballpark app?

  9. Looks like the NV Sites Complete Map was updated. I see a new site in Jefferson. I also saw in a thread that a new PRL was pushed to many devices that had a mass 1X800 update. Can anyone near the active LTE towers check for an 800 signal? You may need to update your PRL and Profile. Thanks!

Dequardo- i have not seen much more battery drain on LTE. I leave mine on LTE/CDMA all the time and i get 20+ hours of usage (i have an Evo)

  10. Whoa whoa, wait, did a tower in Waukesha get marked 4g complete??

     - Sorry, I misread your post. I'm guessing you meant that you think Waukesha will be getting some work before the city of Milwaukee will.... :/

On a side note, I went to Madison this past weekend for my cousin's wedding. I had all the necessary apps running and I got to map some LTE from the tower just east of Lake Mills on i94. Got an average of like 18Mbps down and 8Mbps up.

No, i was referring to the fact that they seem to be starting in the boonies and working their way toward MKE.
