  1. OK.. I discovered a possible issue with google play store..??? As I'm connected to 4G on my EVO LTE, I can access the play store without issues ..but when I try to download an app, the progress bar gets stuck and nothing happens.... Then, if I loose 4G and go back to 3G, still cannot download app. Even if I turn on wifi, still not working... I have to reset the phone and then and only then it will work... But again, if I get a 4G signal again, then I have the same issue where I cannot download an app... Anybody experienced this??? edit:// ...hmmm... apparently I'm not crazy..... http://community.spr...art=45&tstart=0 http://forum.xda-dev...=1752518&page=3
  2. Welcome to the forum. There is lot's to learn here!! Enjoy!
  3. Very nice article. Every day that passes, I learn more and more on this site!!!....
  4. Sorry for the dumb question... but how do you get to the LTE menu to check the values of LTE timer and BSR timer?
  5. I can't really complain yet about LTE connectivity as my area is still "under construction".... That being said, I think once more towers are up and running, perhaps nearing 100% completion, the issue with the EVO will be minimal....or.... until then, there might be some more attempts by HTC/Sprint to release and update to improve LTE connectivity.
  6. One more thing I just found, you can now update your voice mail app by going to settings. It changed the theme a little bit, but now you can have white or black background if you decire.
  7. Actually it makes sence. No matter how you look at it (before or after), I still have the same app storage space as before, but as you stated before, it seems that it is showing partitioned differently this time.
  8. I tried from navigation directly and it still crashes. I think Google might have to release an update to the maps app as this as been reported on the s3 as well after JB update....
  9. OK... I just noticed what is happening.. .For #2 above, the scaling is incorrect. (it says 4.xx GB out of 6.xx GB), which leaves me with about 1.6xx GB of space vailable for apps which seems correct since we only get 2GB for app storage). But for some reason, this "other" 4.xx GB is taking up and messing up the total internal (app) storage....
  10. OK. just finished the update: 1) Prox sensor works good (didn't really had any issues with this) 2) I now notice that when you go to apps, the amount of app storage available is incorrect. It says way more than what it actually is. I hope I don't run into a (low storage) situation and I can't install apps anymore.... Under storage, app storage states apps: 406MB. other: 4.05GB. I don't know what this "other" is... However, when you go to phone storage (internal storage), this has been corrected (whereas before it would show up as unavailable). NOTE: When you check for device storage through the sprint zone app, everything shows up correctly.... 3) Navigation crashes... I did not have the opportunity to test this... and won't until I get out of work today. But if anybody out there can report back, that would be great. 4) When I put the phone in vibrate profile, I still don't get a vibrate alert when I get a text message (still not fixed)....This was working before JB update, but it is not my top priority. these are what I noticed so far.....
  11. hope Navigation crashes are fixed.... (still downloading at 3G speeds...).....
  12. I believe on the EVO 4G LTE you have the option to block a particular contact, so it's kind of the do not disturb feature...? No calls, no messages from that particular contact.... It's under the contacts settings....
  13. In my opinion, forums are sometimes biased as they are usually a tool for troubleshooting and finding solutions to problems... Reading forums, you will find many threads indicating multiple issues with the EVO 4G LTE, yet when you go to the Samsung thread, you will also see many threads with issues people have with their S3s. Most of the times, all the issues/bugs seen on phones now a days are attributed to software and poorly validation requirements. Combine that with an outdated network, and it just makes matters worst. (NV hopefully is changing all that) It's funny when people get overly angry that they don't have the latest version of Android, etc, but again, we have to remember that the newest thing is not necessarily the best thing....Software is a b$, and even if you test it day in and day out, there is always something there that will emerge when you least expect it. ...just my thought....
  14. The M7 looks promissing (or whatever they call it when it becames available for Sprint)...
  15. Yep. I'm seing the articles about how Dish Network wants to halt the SB+Sprint deal, etc... There is money involved off course, but I woun't be surpriced if more companies try to jump in to disrupt the Softbank/Sprint deal from happening this year...
  16. I think an EVO LTE for a penny is a great deal... Personally, I still love my EVO LTE (even more than my original EVO)....
  17. I hope the SoftBank deal goes through this year.... Some interest groups (particularly) Clearwire stock holders don't want sprint to aquire Clearwire and want to block Softbank's aquisition of Sprint, but I don't know how they will be able to avoid this deal....
  18. For me, I guess I still like my EVO LTE. I don't have LTE where I live yet, so I cannot complain nor confirm about the LTE connectivity problem.... As for S3, I don't know if I like the AMOLED screen. The colors are saturated and I heard of screen burn in issues (unlike LCD panels)..... I really like the build quality of the EVO compared to the S3. WIth my JB update, everything runs smoother and quicker, except for navigation.... which crashes. The only reason I would get an S3 at this point is RAM. Sometimes, I notice if I'm running a memory hungry app (such as a game), when I exit the game, it takes a bit to re-load sense UI as Android starts dumping memory usage and re-allocating it. With the S3 having 2G of ram over 1G for the EVO, I suspect that the phone would be a lot more "fluid" if you will. At this point, I'm just sticking with the EVO until something else comes out....
  19. I don't think ICS had power saver feature.....
  20. The one thing I like about the new update is when the battery reaches 14 %, the power saver feature turns on automatically to conserve batt. Then, as you charge the phone again, it will turn off... (I thought it was a cool little feature)....
  21. Overal my JB experience has been good. My phone feels a lot snapier and stable. There are a couple of things that I don't like and /or having issues with: 1) Google Navigation is broken after JB update. Keeps force closing after a couple of minutes of use. 2) When I toggle my phone to vibrate when I'm at work, when I get a text message notification it does not vibrate. I have to go to text message settings, and manually turn vibrate notification ON. However, when I toggle my phone to normal ringer mode, when I receive a text message, it alerts me with audible tone as well as vibrate.... It seems that it does not automatically know if the phone is in vibrate or normal ringer mode for text message notification. (It's kind of anoying for me)......
  22. Maybe try uninstalling chrome and re-install it. To me it works as it did before.... (The one thing I noticed, even with ICS, chrome uses quite a bit of RAM with all the sync function and all.... )...
  23. I believe connections optimizer has nothing to do with improved LTE performance. It is strictly wifi searching tool, and personally, I completely dissabled it from the app menu. To me is another app that uses up resources and battery... Besides, I like to determine when to connect to wifi at my own will.
