  1. What's good about the Dish acquisition of tmobileus. DT finally gets rid of what it most needed for the longest time and Dish gets the FCC off it's back with the acquisition of a wireless company to put it's own spectrum it's had for awhile plus the latest bought here a few months ago. The FCC was breathing down Charles Ergen and he knew it. Now Dish gets far more spectrum than ever so it's a win for Ergen. The New Dish Wireless toting it's logo and colors.

What's bad. Well only for tmobileus subscribers really. The current company name business model it has in place, Gone! The name and colors it currently uses, Gone! Current staff including ceo will remain in place for now to keep current subscribers leached on but once the transaction is complete then that's when the next phase of Dish management takes over and cleans house to include top level positions at tmobileus. From ceo on down the ranks. Expect huge changes in the aftermath.

Make no mistake this is an all around victory for Charles Ergen of Dish and the finale nail on the coffin for tmobileus. Finally!!

Well since this is all talks and nothing more nothing can really come of it so it's a sit back and wait scenario. Get your popcorn ready.

Btw none of the articles address whether Dish will go with CDMA/LTE or gsm so that's up in the air.

  2. Now with the talks of an acquisition of tmobileus by Dish and CEO Ergen will be the finale word on everything. Legere would remain as a figure head to keep the fan base intact until after the merge then all bets are off.

Goodbye uncarrier and all it's current model structure and Hello Dish Wireless. $$$$money money money because it's shareholders demand it!!

  3.

    Thanks for the links.

btw I've been there and didn't find the answer that's why I came here, lol. You've answered with the OG response here so that cleared things up.

The one thing that MS Windows has for it's gadgets would be very helpful in Android. Here a photo pic at a one stop solution for storage.

  4. As far as I can see, the data to SD card is by each app.  The camera gives you the choice in the setting gear choice.   My screenshots go there too.

I use the tablet system to move some apps themselves to the class 10 SD card.

Also, I have learned that in System/Apps/ (App name), I can totally disable some of the Google %^&*()_ apps that by default comes in all Android devices.  While I cannot uninstall them, I can avoid wasted  CPU and Google updates for the garbage.

Wi-Fi  on the tablet in my home is as fast as my provider claims which is pretty nice for a Cable Modem > router > 2.4 Ghz N Wi-Fi setup.  That was on OOKLA speed test.  Sitting in the same spot, Sensorly reports about a third download speed with the upload speed being fairly close.  Sensorly ping to server was 4x slower.   I guess that must be the distance factor as Sensorly chooses a server halfway across the country.

LTE signal speed is unimpressive in most cases, but there have been exceptions.  Like nobody in my town can get a data signal inside a Wal-Mart.  This tablet did enough for my reporting app to function in all but one case.  I was pleasantly surprised the app in question did not dent my 1Gig plan much.

Using this tablet for tower chasing is a battery challenge with all three single test apps running at once.  I just plug into the car charger, but when I forget and leave them running, the battery drain shows when I pick it up for some real work.

First let me say thanks for your feedback.

As I suspected. it's going to be a tedious task to say the least.  :td:

The actual stock device doesn't really have all that much bloatware it's just the limited internal memory that the system files take majority of,  almost 5GB including software data that coupled with Google apps that are not movable together with my personal apps that are also not movable ( social networks mainly ) amounts to almost 2GB leaving 1.77GB available for use. Needless to say I must prioritize which apps to download and install.  Ouch!

I hope I don't come off whining or complaining but IMHO the internal memory which LG should have made 16GB the standard minimum and or any manufacture at that plus SD Card expandable is ideal and practical for today's daily use.  The cloud is nice but it doesn't hold system files. ^_^

Aside from that the device use and performance is spectacular and the battery is Great! I've really enjoyed using this budget tablet and have grown found of it.  I would recommend for casual users. :tu:

  5. Glad to see a blog was created for this device. :)

I just got 2ea this week, the black for me  and the white for my spouse.

Thus far I really like what this tab has to offer and having lollipop, although 5.0.1, is great out the box. Like most have stated the internal memory really should have been at a minimum 16GB with that said at 8GB I'm really concerned so that brings me to the the reason I'm initially here.   How do I go about setting up the G Pad F SD Card as the DEFAULT for ALL storage. I'm aware that system files are not movable but everything else at least should be.  I've done Google search to no help thus I'm here and need your advice.

Other than the memory inquiry I find the G Pad F practical for everyday use and meets my expectations. Sweet 7" tablet!

  6. Rule of thumb:  if it is even several days old, we already have a thread about it.

Interesting that I did a Google search for just this and this is the first link it refers to, lol. Many thanks for the heads up.

  7. Still no update......How long does this take?

I forced the update this weekend with a technique NOT highly recommended. I also got impatient, lol. Both the G2's are updated to Android L 5.0.2

    First update prl & profile

    Under settings>apps:

Clear "data" for Google Play Services under manage space

"Force stop" Google Services Framework & clear "data"

Next reboot. Run the Systems Update through Sprint Zone App under Device Diagnostics>System Update>Device Software

The date in the Software Update should have a date of 1969 if so tap Check Update.

    * It may take awhile for the update to take so be patient. Once it finds it it'll let you know it's downloading and that will also take some time because it's a big file.  Once that's complete an option at the bottom screen will appear to proceed with the update.

Also here are some links I was provided by community members on zip files just in case the steps above don't work.

    Good luck!

  8. I've got some news for everyone here...

While I'm waiting for news about Framily, my mother is going to get the T-Mobile test drive. I'm going to do a test of T-Mobile here in Chicago (well, the suburbs) and give an honest opinion of it, rather than base my outlook off of the MetroPCS experience, which I've heard could have been from the differences between them in terms of network priority, etc.

I'll post the results here soon.

    tmobileus :soapbox:

Use more than one speedtest to get a better picture of it's network like ooKla and Sensorly.  Also check out detail info about the network with the popular LTE Discovery or and open signal app.

    *  My condolences btw... :zip::dep::confused:

  9. Call Sprint in July and ask if they can push your upgrade then. They said they'll do it for me for one of my other lines...but they only have the option to move the upgrade to now, and not on a specified date. So in July, they can likely move your eligibility then as a one-time thing.

    Sent from my G2

That's my game plan. I'll see in July how it turns out.

  10. So Maverick, are you going to get the G4 when it comes out in June?

Eventually since Sprint has decided to change the subsidy upgrade time from 20 to 24 months now the new upgrade date that use to be in July 2015 is now Nov 2015. I haven't bought off on the lease or easy pay programs which all my lines are eligible.  I just don't feel like paying an additional $25-30 monthly ea tacked to the grandfathered everthing plans.

So yes, lol.  sorry about the soapbox but just disappointed that Sprint decided to do that after they said last year it wouldn't unless you upgraded after Sep 2014.

  11. Clear data Google Services Framework and Google Play Services, then retry the update. Alteratively, go to XDA and just adb sideload the OTA.

    Sent from my G2

Ah, okay. For some reason I thought " FORCE STOP "  was part of the steps.

    Thanks.

btw would you have the direct link for Sprints G2 on the XDA site

  12. Interesting read. In regards to legere his loyal followers will back him blindly regardless how bad the pink carrier finds itself in a predicament. Simply put his their messiah and personal jesus christ that loves to swear etc etc etc...

    * Now not sure if this was covered but didn't AT&T get nailed for doing just this to it's unlimited data subscribers.  Is there a double standard !!!

    Hmmm....

  13. I'm going to force my update via a method you're not supposed to do.  I'll let you know when I get it set up tonight.  I'll try to provide screen-caps, too.

How does that method go , lol. I use to know it but I can't seem to remember the steps. Doh!!

  14. Now that the Source Code has been posted on LG's official Open Source Code Distribution for Sprint's G2 here's some inside information I came across in regards to the OTA push.

      * :deal:  Sprint's G2 Lollipop update 5.0.2 will beginning rolling out on the 27th. It will also include an update to the FM Radio software. :bullhorn:

    Looking forward to Monday

  15. Good Evening,

I like to report that Spark has appeared in my area for the past 3 weeks or so and before then I didn't have it.  I've checked Sprint's map coverage but it shows no Spark at all just 4G LTE in a fair area.  I haven't seen or read any work being done here so not sure what the status is.

Can anyone check to see what's the current status is in regard to Spark deployment officially.  Location: Johnson County, TX 76009

  18. The HD voice call out for T-Mobile and Verizon is VoLTE using whatever the HD codec is, I can't remember off the top of my head. It doesn't call out Sprint because they don't support VoLTE yet.

I was thinking along the same lines that VoLTE may play a vital role in HD Voice via Android 5.1.

       * It is limited though to only those carriers just like Sprint HD is limited to Sprint customers.

    LG G3

This person has admitted to faking the tests, using his personal WiFi and then making the screenshots mimic Sprint Spark.

Signal Check Pro. Look it up in the Google Play store. The developer is an active member here, there is a whole thread devoted to the app.

    Signal Check Pro, thanks!

  19. My hope is that the current ZVF build in testing for Android 5.0.2 fails and that they migrate to Android 5.1. Android 5.1 adds some nice features and I am willing to wait a few more months to have those features incorporated. Since Xposed for Lollipop is still in testing, I don't really care for Lollipop at this point.

The weird thing is that one of the main features for Android 5.1 is the ability of HD Voice but the article only mentions Verizon and Tmobile being able to take advantage of HD voice; What happened to Sprint? Sprint is actually deploying 1xAdvanced so I would expect that they would be able to use HD voice in Android 5.1.

But my expectations of the OEM and carrier are really low so in reality I don't expect them to abandon Android 5.0.2 baseline and will fix any bugs necessary for the Android 5.0.2 baseline.

I'm not sure I follow your meaning. Sprint's LG G2 received HD Voice last year in QTR 4 of 2015. I've had it since and it's been functional and don't see why any future OS updates would take it away being it's a carrier firmware.
