  1. I guess I'm the odd man out. I was very disappointed in the battlefront beta...mostly because EA/Dice's epic fail with Hardline and BF4. And without any type of campaign..paying 60 bucks for another BF4 except with 80ft tall steel cows and snow just doesn't seem at all like they earned the price tag. I never played a game where we actually beat the cows...and hit detection was mediocre, and just sucked from more than a couple feet away. I'm waiting on R6:Siege.

  2. I hope all the so-called experts took notice last night regarding their audacity to keep declaring Leonard Fournette as the undisputed/unquestionable Heisman front runner. LSU hadn't played a single team outside Florida (and they got them at home, not to mention that was the game immediately after the Grier suspension) with a remotely respectable defense, particularly against the run. These 'analysts' had practically already given him the trophy without even bothering to do any analysis. Was about the worst example of kool-aid drinking I've seen.

I like how he only had 31 yards last night. Came into the game getting 100+yds / game...until last night. Les hasnt been able to win against the tide in 5 years now... I listened to his press after the game...it was..stuttering and stammering all over (prob because analysts had already given him the W for this week).

People can say what they want about the south, the SEC is a force to reckon with. Ole Miss got lucky, played against an undisciplined team that made mistakes, and showed the tide that they can't just win because they attend Alabama..they have to earn it...and I like to see football like was played last night in T-Town.. All of a sudden Henry is a Heisman frontrunner now...and shoulda been all along..he's an outstanding player.

  3. Get the free Sprint one...it's a great router!

According to chat ...you can only get it by calling in, which I didn't have time to do...but I tried and failed with online chat.

I just bought a Netgear Nighthawk X8.  Pretty expensive and huge, but this thing awesome!    I've only had it a day, but it is running circles around my old TP-LINK TL-WR940N.   I know it isn't fair to compare the two, but the constant speeds and connections from this is awesome.  No matter what part of the house or yard, I'm getting 40mb speeds minimum (75/5 plan).   I love the fact that it has 6 ethernet ports, because we easily used the 4 on the other router.   With the 6 ports now, it'll cover all the tv's in the house, my desktop, and the Sprint airave.   Hopefully that will help the wifi in the house now since everything will be wired.  Expensive, but so far worth it.

I'll be honest, I can't get too technical about this router as much as someone would probably want me to, but I'll do my best I can to figure something out about it if I can.   It was probably overkill for me, but the 6 Ethernet ports kinda sold me on it.   That and I read great things about it.

This is the router I mentioned in my earlier post. The reason for 6 ports is because you can aggregate 2 ports for a NAS.

I'm just curious, what's the public firmware? (log into router and upper RH corner.)

  4. Sprint can increase the power/range of the AIRAVE upon request?

Yes, it takes calling into Airave tech and asking for Tier 2 to change the coverage area (if I remember right)...It's been 3 years since I did it, but i just know i had to call, start a ticket, then wait on them to do it and call me back I think.

start by calling airave tech and get the ball rolling. Took only about a day or 2 if I remember right.

  5. I have a MU-MIMO router that just became available...now that it's available to the public, I am no longer under NDA to not talk about it...

I was sent a Netgear R8500. If cost is a huge obstacle ..then I suggest passing on this one, but if not, it's on the extreme high-end as far as price goes.

The big thing that sets the R8500 apart from a lot of others, the R8500 has active antennas...along with MU-MIMO. So, the antennas actually have some working electronics inside of them...

Among others I have tested the past year are the TP-Link Archer C3200, TP-Link Archer C9, Netgear D7000(ADSL2/VDSL modem + router combo), Linksys E8350 (late last year)...

I like the C3200 also. I still use it, wired to my D7000 for line 1 DSL...and I use the R8500 + some crappy AT&T modem (I think Moto 2210 or something)...

Never have any problems. I use the R8500 with my PS4 for online gaming. (I am still getting beta FW from Netgear that isn't public yet, but the router itself is out for sale with the base FW.)

  6.   AT&T.....et. al. has data caps..... in some markets of 250-300gb/m.

Try 150gb for DSL subs like myself. ENFORCED!!....but tell me why the Uverse 250gb cap is soft...people don't get enforced...only told they are going over. No extra 50gb for $10 packs (In August, AT&T said that I used 5x50gb packs from the 29th day of billing to the 30th day of billing)...

PSC Complaint ...no good. At least 100+ calls to AT&T..and every month it's the same...sh**....I'm so fed up with AT&T, but have NO choice in the matter. It's them, or nothing. $57.00/mo x 2...second DSL line never goes over 75gb/mo.

    /end rant.....

I've had an airave since 2008. The past 3 years, I've had it opened up by tier 2 tech to 8,000sqft...

It's still hard to see signal from it at the end of my drive...but it does work well enough.. If it hadn't been for this, I would not be a Sprint customer, because back in 2008, I was a year into Sprint service, and over a 12 month period, I never used more than 50 minutes/month, no data,  and eventually  just shut my phone off at home (only had 1 line then). 7 years later, I have 5 phones, 3 tablets and an airave...and don't intend to leave even if the airave isn't in the mix.

  7. I see where Tmo is offering a (airave of sorts) that does LTE via broadband....which I know Sprint already has a netgear (6100D I think) solution like this...

I wish Sprint would make it where you could grab the netgear LTE router/airave and have it use your allotted data, instead of using a separate data bucket for your phones/tablets, then a data bucket for your LTE router/thing.

It's supposed to be available November 4th with a $25 deposit...No huge cost so I'm assuming you lease it from Tmo

  8. Alabama seems to be one of the slowest markets in terms of getting iden converts and new LTE ...

I did notice that locally, just a week or two ago, it seems as though SoLinc has erected a tower just outside of a local muni substation (My wife is employed by Alabama Power, but they sell power to muni's like Coosa Valley Authority..etc). One of the AlaPower substations appears to have a new...tower of sorts that was put up ...

I'm not sure if it really is SoLinc or something non-cell related...I'll try for pics next time I'm headed to Cburg...

From what I can tell, it's not the antenna heads that I see on Sprint towers at the top.

  9. I have no choice on reseller. AT&T is only option.

    Router: Netgear D7000.

It's modem and router combo. I just got it back in May. (Beta tester)

For comparison, D7000 was on DSL line 2 for the last two months, last month the traffic meter on D7000 was within 5 mb of at&t billing on DSL line 2. So I moved the D7000 to line 1 so I can check use with D7000.

  10. Yes, since I can disclose a little more info here than just a public forum...Im a beta tester for many devices...but most betas I'm invited into are routers. All of my network devices are either up to date, or running on un-released beta firmware.

My 2nd DSL line has a router on it that I can't even discuss...it's not avail to the public yet, so NDA protects it...but it's current...but the D7000 is a May-released router + modem all in one.

  11. Ok, here goes my story. Some may have seen me mention this, but I haven't said much about it...although it's been a huge problem for me the past TWO years:

AT&T is my DSL provider. I have TWO physical DSL lines, two separate networks, etc.

My 2nd DSL line was installed in 2012 (may)...never had an issue with it as far as usage goes. It stays well below the AT&T data cap of 150gb/month.

My primary line, on the other hand, it has MAJOR issues. I'm having problems, and have been having problems with AT&T accusing me of going over my 150gb/month cap. And I don't mean going over by just a little. They accuse me of using anywhere from 50gb to 150gb extra per month, for the last 2 years.

So...my total usage amounts to 300/400gb month..It looks something like this:

    usage.PNG

I'm looking for some help in a program to monitor traffic.

I'm already using a router that has a traffic meter (no, my traffic does not match AT&T's site for per-day usages..)

I need somewhere to turn and something I can use to back my case...

Public service commission complaint filed...AT&T says they can't give me any credits because their "data collection is accurate"...

NO it's NOT...I know it's not. Do we stream movies? Well we used to...back before AT&T started harassing us...

Do I play online multiplayer games? YES..-->>>On the 2nd DSL line, which never goes above 60gb / month. What since does that make? (none to me, but ..I could be wrong)...

Frustrated isn't the word..I've had my fill of AT&T. If I had another option in internet..I'd be GONE...but AT&T is the ONLY provider here, so they can do as they please...

I'm thinking about contacting the local news Fox affiliate and seeing if their "Six on your side" would be interested in going after AT&T in the news for badgering a customer that's been with them since 2008 on my primary DSL line, 2012 on my 2nd line. AT&T makes a killing on me each month just in basic internet fees. Now hitting me with $20-$40 more every month ($10 for each addt'l 50gb data over the 150gb/month initial)

    I don't really have a complicated network...

My main router that does PPPoE into my DSL modem is Netgear D7000. Connected to that is my desktop, and my TPLink Archer C3200. To that, I have my Airave - Sprint, my Netgear XAV6504 & XAV6501 powerline adapter. On the other end of XAV6504 I have a Netgear WNR2000 with DDWRT, which has my Sharp TV and Dishnet Hopper connected(I can do away with the WNR2000 as the hopper and Sharp both have wifi built in, I just preferred to use wired)...

I also use a WN3000RPv2 repeater..but the traffic through it doesn't amount to 50mb/day..so monitoring it can be added in later.

That's it. Wifi passwords are 14 characters long on the D7000 and Archer C3200...

WNR2000 only has local access on wifi (No SSID broadcast). The XAV PLA set doesn't have Wifi...

That's my story. Does anyone have any ideas as to what I can use to keep a track on my usage aside from the router logs? (which I see plenty of [ACK Scan] and [DoS ATTACK] entries....which I have read can be interpreted wrong by Netgear as legit requests....

  12. From my experience in an AL city b41 wildly underperforms b25. I work a little over 300 yards from a tower with b41 on it (watched them put it in) and work in a build with a glass fron and the best I can is three bars with connection being sporadic. Out doors on the street with a good line of site I will stay connect magnet .5 miles and that is rare.

I've tried finding 41 in Alabama...can you tell me where it is?
  13. On the battery issue... I did find ONE difference in the G3 and G4 battery. ONE...

But, it makes all the difference in the world...as the G3 battery won't power the G4...they moved ONE prong on the the battery terminals...see photo:(please ignore my thumb..I burned myself the other day..should've cropped but I'm a lazy bum)

  14. I'd like to see some macro in rural...really looking forward to places like my area in central Alabama to hopefully get plastered with Sprint...the coverage map just ain't right here...but I've been loyal to Sprint for years, almost 8 now...I'm not leaving. I don't like change, even if I can take my number with me. It's more trouble than it's worth for me....

I still have Vonage at home for some reason, mostly because I like having the home number I've had in the phone book for 9 years now...I keep saying I'm letting Vonage go, but I just don't wanna let it go.

  15. $S up 6.59% right now

That's great news too, I've lost a good bit since I dove on Sprint stock at $4.90 a share...And shortly after I watched it plummet. Actually bought even more when it hit $3.89, thought it was finished dropping but it still came down even more. Hope to see it back around $5.50. But I'm not really sorting it either.

    Sorting = shorting

  16. So i have a G2 thats on it's last leg. I haven't used an upgrade in probably 3-4 years because im on a SERO plan and because i just don't want to be tied to a contract. Now i've been looking for a used G3 for under $200 to buy but considering actually just using my upgrade to get a G4. How future proof will the G4 be? my G2 has a hard time with signal sometimes and i know the G4 won't be perfect but it should be better. The G4 also will be able to roam on band 12 LTE onces that finished, correct? That and CA would be pretty much the only reason i would upgrade over a G3 right now. Just want to make sure i'm not kicking myself in 8-12 months. Love my G2 just not sure how much longer it's going to last. I'd like to hold out and see what the new Nexus offers but the G4 is tempting. Suggestions?

What bands in the G4 will be the more popular? Who is band 12 and where? And the other bands, which of them might I see in rural central Alabama or in nearby areas?
