  1. I actually did get mine to work, the signal is weak and I'm not sure it'll be a long-term solution (where I had to place it)... Determination is key..I kept moving it around and the last place I tried was a spot that I had my cell phone make the "lte jingle" from SCP a few times before...so I tried it there and just left it for a while.. Happened to grab my phone and noticed SCP said B25(2)...but the details said B41 MB... What may negate the positives is the fact that this spot I found is outdoors (however it's under my carport, and I built a small platform that get it above the weather ..but it's still outdoors.)
  2. Yeah, I was gonna reply that but just forgot to...I think the Auburn - Opelika area falls into the Georgia - Atlanta market. They are sister cities ..only a few miles apart..and the Ga line is like...right there. The MSC I think is Atlanta...but I could be mistaken.
  3. No..I wasn't aware of a blog posting about it..but I haven't been able to look around much either. They sure don't send you much paperwork with it to describe what you should look for when hooking it up, aside from the QSG.. I guess I will just hang onto it and hope it comes to life soon. Definitely not sending it back. if I have to, I'll put it in at my business location so that customer who come in will be able to use it. It's in a scarcely covered b25, b26 area. No b41 anywhere around me (or even in Alabama that I'm aware of)
  4. Magic Box - received = check. Magic Box - not working = check. Magic Box - currently outside trying to latch on to 1 bar of B26LTE from a tower 8 miles away - check. Happy with Magic Box's current operational status -- uncheck.
  5. I had the same thing happen, as I mentioned above...back in May. Called into Sprint to order a new SGS8 to replace a broken phone...and spent nearly 40 minutes talking to the salesperson. In the conversation, we went into depth on my account charges, etc...because I do have a really high bill each month, but its mostly because I have so many devices on my account (I am at the 10-device limit I think). Plus an airave...plus the magic box on the way now.... So she mentioned that I would do better on the unlimited freedom plan. I actually agreed to it at first...then as our conversation went on, it came down to comparing and pricing. She told me that unlimited freedom would actually cost me about $20 more a month on my base charges...so I finally, in the end, declined to change plans. She had originally set the plan-change to take place on the 6th of the month (as the date we spoke was the 18th.).. This would eliminate any pro-rated charges, etc from appearing on my bill..so I went along with that. When I backed out (still during the course of my phone conversation -- never hung up before I changed my mind).. she changed everything back so that my plan would remain (I am still on the 32gb data bucket...with 1 tablet on unlimited tablet plan)... On the 6th of the following month, I suddenly lost ability to text on my tablet, and that threw me off...however I didn't notice anything until my bill cycled a few days beyond the 6th...and when my bill finally cycled, it was hugely beyond what it should've been...even with the phone upgrade/etc. We're talking about $150 higher than it should've been....so I called in to Sprint. Turns out, the plan change went into effect, but only on 2 phones and my tablets. the other 4 phones were still on 32gb share...so i had some enormous billing errors. Sprint fixed it all back like it was, and saw where I requested no change to my plan...so the person i called about the problem got a supervisor to do an override since the 32gb share plan is no longer available. They told me they couldn't add that plan and that they would have to get management to add it for them because it's no longer offered. Sprint gave me all sorts of credits for the issue, and fixed everything back to be the way it was before the changes.
  6. I can guarantee they didn't "arbitrarily change" the plan without any sort of provocation. Apparently from the conversation with customer, they gathered the plan change was OK to proceed, and they set the plan change to activate on the bill cycle date... So it was set to be active on a future date, versus right away...so there wouldn't be any changes in mid-bill cycle. I've had it done before and recently dealt with a similar issue. No problem going back to what i had though.
  7. I'm in South Mississippi right now...LTE roaming on Cspire...barely anything Sprint near me...but I did hit a couple sites Sent from my SM-N920P using Tapatalk
  8. He was named to the Softbank board, so even if his job at Sprint as CEO dissipates (or otherwise "goes away"), he will still be a controlling entity in the combined company and the parent company, Softbank. I don't think SB is looking to hand over the reigns...they want to have a stake in it...but they want it to be a T + S combination that they are controlling. Whether DT will go all in for the Softbank offer, remains to be seen. It appears there is plenty of speculation, but not much to base anything on just yet. I wouldn't count Marcelo out just because a merger does take place....
  9. I have heard rumor of B41 in/around Huntsville...but I personally haven't been there to see it. In Birmingham/Hoover/Inverness, I have seen a 2nd B25 carrier according to SCP... And I know for a fact in McComb, MS, LTE on C-Spire is treated as native LTE on Sprint. I had it last year when I was there in ~August or so. I actually used my phone as a hotspot with C-spire LTE...but it was showing native. As for Slidell, I can't say. I hope to see B41 for the first time ever when we are in Slidell. We will be at the Wingate on Gauze...so I should be in a perfect spot to get B41.. Last time I was in Slidell, the speeds were great. Locally, Sprint is overselling it's network faster than the upgrades can provide service. When I first saw LTE in my little town, the speeds were around 30mbps down, 12mbps up... Now, 3 years later, the speeds hover around 6-7mbps down, and 2-3mbps up.. So the service has definitely expanded ...but backhaul and 2nd carrier aren't ..yet. Still hoping to see 10x10 in central AL soon...
  10. What would be better, is if the United States wasn't the most medicated country in the world. We make up around 5% of the world's population, yet we take 95% of the opiates produced. If that doesn't cause anyone with a lick of sense to do a double-take, then there-in lies the problem. Since I like posting proof, HERE I won't deviate any further...except to say that when I was dependent, I didn't like the idea of being told I couldn't have them either. So I understand the prospect of having those "precious opiates" taken away from you. I digress.. Carry on.
  11. I can't believe you said over blown drug scare. Apparently some haven't seen firsthand how out of control it is. Sent from my SM-N920P using Tapatalk
  12. I don't foresee getting any band 41 in the entire of Alabama.unless things have changed since I last talked with Sprint Sent from my SM-N920P using Tapatalk
  13. I'll be traveling in about a week and hope to hit b41 for the first time ever while on trip. First stop is mobile, AL...doubt I'll see if there...2 nd stop is Slidell. That's where I'll likely find it. Then on to McComb where I'll sit on Cspire LTE roaming as native... I sat on Cspire last year while in McComb...pretty decent. It was enough for me to enjoy some ps4 gaming via hotspot. Sent from my SM-N920P using Tapatalk
  14. Ironic you guys are discussing this, as I just today have been emailing a city utility network admin about fiber run to my home. Their nearest fiber is around 4500 feet from me, and he said it would cost around $22,000 for that to be ran. Also, if I can get 30 people to commit in the area between...they will do it (run the fiber and offer service). The footwork is on me though. I think it's worth it and I'll be going door to door in the next day or so. Sent from my SM-N920P using Tapatalk
  15. You can definitely tell who was around and knew what was happening while early stages of NV1.0 were going on...who on here talked with engineers and such...and who just read some reddits on the subject. In other words, you can tell who here knows what they are talking about, and who is just talking only for the sake of being argumentative.
  16. I think I'll just stick to my current Airave 2.5... Chances are, the Airave 3 with LTE requires a certain amount of bandwidth (like at the least, a 25mbps down / 5mbps up connection)... I doubt VERY seriously I could get very much LTE use with the new one, as AT&T only gives me 5.9mbps down / 0.5kbps up.. (yeah, KBPS)... That upload is the killer. If I'm trying to PS4 game with R6 Siege and someone starts streaming amazon music, it kicks me out of my game...that's crappy. And I'm sure AT&T isn't in any hurry to get us better internet speeds around here. They enjoy ripping me for those extra 2 or 3 data packs they slap on me each month at $10 per 50gbs... I'm so disgusted with that company...I can't put enough adjectives together to express what I wish would happen to them... I do appreciate having 2 separate 24 pair fiber lines under my driveway...it's good to know that I can see the DSLAM that provides us all this crappy connection while standing in my yard (it's only about 100' away from my house). I guess if the Fed ever regulates anything like internet, maybe they'll use G.Fast or something to give us better speeds -- and maybe even a competitive price. But we're not even 6 months into 2017 and AT&T has jacked my DSL up twice since January. $1 as of Feb 1st and $2 as of May 1st. I'm at $61 now. 8 years ago it was $47.95 for naked DSL.... /rant
  17. I see that scp says band 17 but eng screen says band 12... Sent from my SM-N920P using Tapatalk
  18. I am in central Alabama, and all I gotta do is unplug my Airvana, and my note 5 jumps on band 17 immediately. I am using my galaxy tab A right now and dunno how to get to engage screens, but I'll post screens tomorrow from my note 5.
  19. Would this explain why I'm seeing at&t b2 and at&t b17 on my note (but so far it doesn't seem usable)... it sees those lte bands but data isn't avail on them that i have seen
  20. I am often in Bham for various reasons -- usually against my better judgement ( I really despise Bham traffic!!!).. But I see B25 for the most part, mixed with occasional B26. Now, B41...HAHA...literally! I can say this, there is a new tower near me (35150 area)...since 2014 there have only been 2 towers that have B25 + B26...but there are 3 towers ...the 3rd one was only 3G.. And it was also a GMO. Just last week, I saw LTE on B25 and it was obvious to me that the 3rd (GMO) tower now has live B25. Far as I can tell, no B26 yet...but that's expected. I will be visiting the tower location -- hopefully today -- and trying to grab some photos if I can remember to take the Canon + 75-300. If the above is the case, then that would mean one of the first GMO's in Alabama has been converted to full build LTE. I'm curious to see for myself exactly what's the case with this tower. And hopefully B26 will be coming along shortly... I have seen some strange happenings with my GN5. I know the note 5 has some roaming LTE bands available to it, but since this tower has become live (give or take a day or two) I've been seeing some strange LTE behavior on my Note 5. And SCP has been reporting some weird stuff...and if what it says is true, then this phone is defying it's radio capabilities!! First I started seeing B17 AT&T here at my home when I unplug my Airvana. Any other time, I'm on regular EV-DO and Wifi...but when I unplug the Airvana and the Note starts looking for native signal (which isn't present here -- only VZW roaming coverage)..it latches onto LTE on B17 (and even SCP says AT&T).. And just a couple days ago, I was in town and for some reason, I was in an area where I couldn't grab LTE from Sprint...so my Note 5 grabbed onto B2...and again reported that it was AT&T B2 LTE. Along with that, I've also noticed strange behavior from the Airvana -- dropping calls lately...etc. And that's only ever happened around here when either 1)the airvana is on the way out and needs to be swapped -- I've had an airave/airvana since 2008 when sprint first introduced them,...or 2) Sprint is doing work on towers in the area. It has always caused the Airvana to act peculiar when there is work going on with Sprint's towers around me....I see the same dropped call behavior and stuff .. Hopefully B26 goes live on that newly-LTE'd B25 tower pretty soon. I am in the line of thinking that it may even reach me if they get B26 up and optimized .. If you look at where I am in comparison to the towers, I'm 7.5 miles from 1 tower (has B25 + B26), 8.4 miles from another tower (same LTE bands)...and the newly livened tower, I'm 9.1 miles away. It's the small hills/trees and other things that I guess keep me from getting anything LTE flavored. I can get on my ATV and ride up behind my house (maybe 1/2 a mile, but up the hill some)...and I get B26 and it's usually around 8mbps / 5mbps on download/upload. I am also in regular communication with the Bham corp store manager... Last week when I was in the Sprint store, during our talks, he told me that he had around 40 sites in Shelby + Jefferson + Talladega + St. Clair that went live with LTE..and more on the way. He said there is LOTS of work being done in the Birmingham + surrounding areas... And now I've seen it for myself with that GMO having LTE...
  21. I noticed this first on a ZTE device on Sprint. I can't provide model #, but it's apparently 2CA with obviously band 25, 26, and 41...then band 2, 4, 5, 12, 3, and 7. I never seen 9 bands on my Samsung note 5...only 7. But anyway, having SignalCheck on my devices, this ZTE started showing AT&T B17 about a week ago (B17 has been around here on AT&T's tower, but only last week started showing on my ZTE device)... I figured it was a fluke..no way...SCP had to be wrong or it wasn't really seeing B17.. Then it's happened on my Note 5. Right now, I have the Airave plugged in and that is what the phones are latching onto, but if I unplug the Airave, I start seeing both the ZTE and the Note 5 showing B17 LTE (but with AT&T as provider).... What's up with that???
  22. This is on a galaxy tab A, but it's Birmingham... an hour away. I'll try to get it on my phone next time I go Sent from my SM-T587P using Tapatalk
