Wasn't he the last of the Hesse era?
Depends on whether you count John Saw. He came over after Clearwire purchase.

I think this pretty much answers it.

So no specific Sprint version. Doesn't mean Sprint might not sell it in future. Maybe they'll offer a reduced price version to get you to sign up. If not, then Sprint will just have to compete on service plans. Just like all carriers should. Hope more mfgs start doing this.

Yeah, it's the Pure Edition. We already have a writeup on the Wall regarding FCC docs on the Sprint model, and it includes B26. But I am still hoping that the FCC docs on the Pure Edition model shows B26 available. I know many of our S4GRU member set would like to have an unlocked Pure Edition model over the Sprint model, if possible.

Sure, but I'm guessing Sprint doesn't. Wouldn't surprise me if they keep the Spark enabled version for themselves as a differentiator. So you'll have a choice between universal network compatibility or network performance on Sprint.

If the Play doesn't even make it to Sprint then it would not matter much. Did they announce the price for either one?
Moto X Style will be $399 at Amazon, BestBuy.com and Motorola.com. Moto G starts at $179 from the same retailers.

Well, now. A moto x pure edition that will have universal LTE bands. Will work on all 4 carriers.

Disappointing, shares are still trading below 3.80, at 3.74 right now.
Not going to get better until they start showing positive financials or at least large subscriber additions.

Well it looks like 5.1.1 is starting to roll out in some international markets.
Wonder how much more testing Sprint will go through?

Yeah
Not being argumentative, do people really keep a smartphone for 2 years or longer?
Sent from my SM-G920P using Tapatalk
I try to. No real reason not to. Flagship phones today will still be more than capable 2+ years from now. That's why I dislike trend of sealing up the batteries. It's really the only part that will wear out and need replacing. But then again, I'm also the type who buys a new car and keeps it until it falls apart.

1H Rootmetrics report out. Sprint definitely showing some nice improvement.
Still last place in data speeds though. I wonder if that's because Sprint just can't get enough fiber to its cell towers. Even band 41 doesn't seem to be particularly fast.

That is true. But if I was going to buy my phone after the 24 months, I'd rather just do the easy pay option.
Was going to do straight up Easy Pay until I found out Best Buy did leases too. I preferred the lower monthly payment. If I decide to keep note 4 I wind up paying the same total amount of money for the phone as on Easy Pay.

Yeah, to me, leasing is good if you know that you are good with NOT dropping/damaging your phone. If you know you are careless with your phone, then you should get insurance with the lease. Then at that point, it becomes more expensive and not worth it to me.
Even with a non-lease, if you are careless with phones, you should get insurance. But at lease with a non-lease, the phone payments go away after 2 yrs (or less), IF you keep the phone.
I will probably do a lease thru Best Buy, maybe when the GS7 comes out. I am pretty good at keeping my phones in good condition.
You do have the option to buy at the end of lease term. My note 4 is on a lease. At the end of 24 months I can turn the phone in or pay $120 to own the phone outright and not have any more payments.

I'd jump from my 10 line Framily if I could get some affordable/free tethering on an unlimited plan.
Never understood why framily didn't include tethering since you had the 1gb/3gb caps.

So looks like Marcelo is continuing his retail push. Sprint is partnering with Carphone Warehouse on 20 stores.

Marcelo has got a lemon of a plan, here. It's blowing up before he can even get back stateside. This one is DOA. The tech media is going to eat him alive.
We are now going to see how nimble Sprint can be with fast changes. Because this one is going to go over worse than Framily.
Fix it! Fix it! Fix it! Fix it!
To be fair, they made fun of Framily, but the reason it's not longer offered is that it was too successful. Too many people got to that magic 7 number.

Ok, deleted second quoted paragraph.

Looks like Sprint is replacing its CTO to carry out Marcelo's NGN plan.

Well, new RDFs appeared. Up to OF9 apparently.

It's been dropping for me pretty frequently too but I think it's the network doing it's thing. However I've been getting no sim card several times a day lately. Called Sprint last night told them about it and they wanted to charge me $40 for a new one. My reply was "the phone is 6 month old and you are going to charge for a new one" then she tried to get me to upgrade phones. I was dumbfounded and replied I would like to be transferred to the disconnection Dept to cancel all 9 lines please. Sir wait please "OK" I credited your account $40 for the cost of a new sim card.
Oh wow! That is a rip off right there. Sprint will give you those suckers for free if you contact the international customer service department. I was reading that a new sim card might fix the LTE problem so I did a chat with international support and got a SIM ordered in about 5 minutes. The only charge would've been for overnight shipping. I stayed with regular shipping so it didn't cost me a thing. The new sim should arrive today, which is basically 2 day shipping.
FYI, it's not just the dropping LTE, it's that once dropped the phone won't connect back to LTE. Even if I'm in the same place. It won't reconnect to LTE until I restart the phone.
Update: Here is the link to International Chat. Use this if you ever have need to order a SIM card. If they ever ask for a reason why you need a sim I'd just tell them that you purchased a used Sprint phone that didn't come with one.

Anyone else had LTE problems with the phone? Mine seems to drop LTE after a while and won't reconnect until I reboot. Have tried searching for answers and only one seems to be a SIM replacement. Anyone else have experience with this?

Well, nobody will have to worry about a Sprint/TMo merger for a while.
http://www.reuters.com/article/2015/06/17/us-tmobile-m-a-comcast-idUSKBN0OX16W20150617
Deutsche Telekom is in talks with U.S. cable company Comcast about a potential sale of T-Mobile US, German Manager Magazin reported on Wednesday, citing sources.
Deutsche Telekom is in talks with several parties, including satellite provider Dish, according to the magazine, but Comcast is viewed as a more attractive buyer by the German telecoms provider's management.
Comcast would be a better candidate as it is financially stronger and would be able to make an offer to buy all shares in T-Mobile US, Manager Magazine reported.

Well, certain things we like would go away in a merged network. By all indications, if a merger came up, Legere would be running it. There'd be a house cleaning at Overland Park too. I don't see a situation where Sievert and Ray aren't there.
Also say adios to CDMA. Not saying it isn't going away eventually, but SoftBank and the TMUS engineers taking over would want their networks to match Japan and the faster TMUS networks. The good news is Spark could quickly and easily be deployed in the existing TMUS grid. The key would would be "migration". It would simply be easier to use Nokia/Ericsson and perhaps keep Samsung B41 where it is.
AlLu is going away anyway so I'm sure that stuff would be out the door. That leaves Nokia and Ericsson T-Mobile setups and then I take it there'd be new B41 channel cards from Nokia and Samsung on TMUS deployments.
I'd also guess no more Sprint brand. Probably T-Mobile US or SoftBank depending on how much ownership DT keeps. From Tim Hottges's comments, I'd guess DT would keep some ownership.

Most of that is probably still true. Only thing that would be question would be the CEO. Legere taking over was while Hesse was still in charge of Sprint. Made lots of sense since Legere was "hip and cool" while Hesse wasn't. Plus I think Hesse had one foot out the door already. Now with Marcelo in charge of Sprint, not sure decision would be so clear cut.

Screens with more pixels than 1080p with battery performance issues? They said it wouldn't happen. Hah!
Using Nexus 6 on Tapatalk
To be fair some phones handle it better than others. The Note 4 screen is same resolution but with much better battery performance.

I was having issues with battery life on my G4 but they were caused by apps that I had installed. I installed Greenify and the battery drain problem went away. The cool thing about the LG operating system is Greenify doesn't require root because LG gives the option to add Greenify as a system service.
Sent from my LGLS991 using Tapatalk
Thought an app might have been cause so I factory reset a couple of times see if that fixed it. Didn't make any difference.
On a side note, it does annoy me that I would have to tweak the phone to get the battery to make it through a work day. On a 2015 flagship phone you should only need to do that to get 24+ hours out a phone not just 10 or 11. Oh, well. Like I said, maybe a future software update will improve things. I just didn't have any interest in waiting.
