  1. hmmm You may be right about this. Just checked this morning and the same status "A UPS shipping label has been created. Once the shipment arrives at our facility, the tracking status will be updated." hasn't change. Yet it also says estimated delivery 9/1/2017 by end of day.

Things that make you say hmmm.

    TS

I think that's just because the labels were created on 8/30 and they are being sent out 2 day air. Ups just put a delivery date 2 days after the setup.

  2. Isn't the Sprint/UPS distribution center in Louisville, Kentucky. It could be that they are starting early because all that rain from Hurricane Harvey is heading towards that area, and they got permission to start sending them out early to avoid delays.

I don't know. I'm starting to think that the warehouse just created the shipping labels too early.

  3. No. Under 'normal' circumstances -- and by that i mean beta devices that arent even released for public consumption yet ..."Shipment release authorized" means that UPS can leave the package at my doorstep..without me having to sign for it...

But, as I mentioned earlier in this thread, when it comes to shipments that are sent from Sprint, they have a contract with UPS that states they MUST hand the packages to a person.

Sprint had a lot of problems with people claiming "well i never received it" and they would lose tons of money with "stolen" or supposedly never received devices...

It basically is a release authorization that I've presigned for all packages to be left if I'm not home to sign for them.

But with Sprint, it doesn't stand...I have to physically be given the package..

Darn. That's disappointing.  I'm beginning to think that the phones won't actually ship out until next week.

  4. This will show exactly what UPS has ... (in literal terms, they have nothing but a label and tracking in their system. No package picked up yet)..

So they've generated labels. Hopefully we see them start moving today..

Does "Shipment release authorized" mean that the warehouse has given to the green light to ship these?

  5. Tracking details on both still show "Order processed: Ready for UPS" ...

Until it gets on the plane and hits Bham, I can't really decipher what's happening.

Hoping to see them start moving today (they will HAVE to be put on plane that leaves Kentucky for Birmingham by tomorrow morning at 5am in order to still have the device by tomorrow...

If they don't start moving and get put on the plane ...then it will at the earliest be delivered on Tuesday thanks to the holiday.

I'll be annoyed if they don't start shipping today.  I don't get generating the shipping labels and triggering the tracking if you're just going to let them sit for a week before they actually leave the warehouse.

  6. From my years of experience with UPS, FedX and USPS (mostly UPS and FedX tho)...that usually means (and sometimes it will say this)

"tracking information has been sent to the carrier, but the package has not yet been picked up by the carrier"...

so, a shipping label has been printed and placed on a box, but UPS hasn't picked up yet. They will probably start moving around 9-10am today..you'll probably see something on the UPS app around 5pm this evening (times are CST for me)..

For those who are unaware, Sprint has a contract with UPS to not leave packages ...they told me that MUST see a person and hand it off ...so you need to either pick it up at the local hub (or UPS store), or have someone available to sign,

Apparently people used UPS as a "I never got it" when they would leave packages on someone's door...

I've signed the delivery confirmation release....but it still doesn't apply to shipments that are made from sprint....

I still have to physically touch the package as received from the driver...

Good to know. Will have to plan accordingly.

  7. I'm a current customer, and got the $20/mo for 18 month..no new lines.. Both are upgrades and both are $20/mo each.

billed $40/mo but receiving a $20/mo bill credit. Plus the freebies from Samsung.

Herein lies the problem with me...If I don't do esign within like, 72 hours (actually now it's like 60 hours) then my order for 2 GN8 will auto cancel...

The nearest store? An hour away.

    They gotta get that resolved...

Even Exec Cust Serv hasn't called me back about this issue and I called "Susan" at 8:35 this morning and she's been working on it for me!!

Congrats. Only thing I could get was the $28 deal.  I tried to sign up for the $20 but everytime I entered my account info it switched deals to the other one.  Oh, well. No complaints.  It's still better than the $40 full monthly payment. It makes the total ust a bit more than the price I paid for my current Note 4.

  8. Probably not. Only new customers get the best deals.

I just got an email from Sprint offering an upgrade to the Note 8 for $28.88/ month on an 18 month lease. It's one of those credit deals. Pay $40 and get a $11.12 bill credit each month.  With upgrade after 12 months of payments.  Not as good as the new customer deal but cheaper than the $33/month deal that best buy is offering.

If you're activating a new line Sprint is doing 50% off. Not sure if it applies to upgrades.  My Note 4 is paid off so I'd jump on it if they gave it to me for the promotional price.

  10. Here's the WSJ story on deal talks. You'll need a subscription to see the whole article.

    https://www.wsj.com/articles/sprint-enters-into-exclusive-talks-with-charter-comcast-on-wireless-deal-1498524087

Sprint Corp. -0.50% has entered into exclusive talks with Charter Communications Inc. CHTR 0.56% and Comcast Corp. CMCSA 0.23% as the cable companies explore a deal that could bolster their plans to offer wireless service, according to people familiar with the matter.

Sprint Chairman Masayoshi Son and the cable firms have entered into a two-month, exclusive agreement for discussions through late July, putting merger talks with T-Mobile US Inc. TMUS -0.39% on hold, the people said.

One arrangement that has been considered is for Charter and Comcast to invest in improving Sprint’s network in exchange for favorable terms to offer wireless service using the carrier’s network, the people said. Such a deal could involve the companies taking an equity stake in Sprint, some of the people said. The cable companies already have such a network-resale agreement with Verizon Communications Inc., but the Sprint deal could provide much better terms.

While thought to be the much less likely scenario, the talks also include the possibility for the cable companies to jointly acquire Sprint, some of the people said. Sprint has a market value of $32 billion and $32.6 billion of net debt.

  11. What kind of phone? It seems BYOP devices were or are having issues with signing up, but once you have registered on another device, they can sign in fine. I had to register on a G3 on a different line, and once the service showed up on the line in my Sprint, it signed in with an automatically generated account when I opened the app. I added an email and password to the account, then I signed in to that account on my N5 successfully after ignoring the something went wrong error message. Hopefully a tidal app update can fix the error, as not everyone will have a Sprint branded phone to register from, or may want to register for the trial on more than one line. I haven't checked, but I guess I'll probably have a problem, as the tidal service is not on my main line, and the one I added it with is a temporary line I'm going to cancel in the next few days.. hmm perhaps I should have thought about that first. :D

Galaxy Note 4 purchased from Sprint.

  12. They finally seem to have properly streamlined the process. All you need to do is add services to that specific account thru the sprint site and it will send you a confirmation text. Once you have that text, that text message will contain a link to the page to confirm the new 6 month trial.

I did it for my sister last night, worked like a charm.

Here is a screenshot of the option to add the promotion..

For some of us we get the text, download the app, launch it and just get a "Something went wrong, please try again" message. It seems like there's some problem with the account signup process.

  13. Well, I guess you can count this as officially stating that Sprint on is on the sale block?

Mr. Son isn't limiting Sprint's (NYSE:S) choices to T-Mobile: "We're basically open to anything."

Looks like it was part of the Softbank earnings call.
