Would love to hear something regarding Richmond, VA. I would hope sooner than later since we're south of D.C., but I'm guessing not until 2013.
-
All I want to hear about is where Richmond, VA falls onto the schedule? It looks like we're being surrounded with D.C. primed and Charlotte waiting in the wings.

I think what the issue here is, is that Sprint has committed that they would give Clearwire all this money since December, but it actually doesn't have the cash to do it. This debt raising just actually is the means to get the money it has already committed to Clearwire. That's what I think.
Also note that Sprint has about $1.7 billion in debt due in 2013. Some if not most of the new debt could go towards paying off the existing debt and giving themselves more breathing room. We won't know that until their Q1 financials are released. Whatever they're doing the market seems to like it. Sprint's stock price is up $0.30/share in the last week.

This November will be my 10th consecutive year with Sprint. My wife and I first opened a family plan back in 1999. We closed it in 2002 for about 9 months and then opened a new account. Have stayed since. Always think about moving to other carriers, but when I sit down and do the math it just never works out.

I've been trying to keep up on the news today but it looks like something big may be going down involving Sprint and Clearwire.
Google has filed papers with the SEC to sell it's stake in clearwire. Sprint and the other remaining partners have right of first refusal. I just posted this:

Also, Sprint did just make another $350 million equity investment in Clearwire in January as part of their new agreement. I'm sure that helped boost their economic stake. I believe Sprint still has <50% voting rights.

Google plans to divest itself from Clearwire. It has filed papers with the SEC showing it intends to sell its stake in Clearwire for roughtly $47 million. That's down from the original $500 million it put into Clearwire back in 2008.
Here's an article from TechCrunch:

Here's the SEC filing:

Annouce a phone in January then re-anounce it in May? That doesn't make sense.
I bet they will announce a whole slew of other LTE devices... but the first three should be out before CTIA.
You can announce the release date though.

The sprint CTIA show is in May. So that's when I would guess you'd hear about a big phone release. Last year at this show Sprint announced the EVO 3D and the year before that it was the original EVO 4G. I would hope Sprint would use the show to announce LTE being lit up in its first few markets and the galaxy nexus going on sale along with any other lte phone they may release.
+JustinRP37 to be fair, Sprint sued the cable cos first over some voip patents. So, a retaliation lawsuit from Comcast was inevitable. We'll see how it sorts out.

Sprint Stock Good Idea?

Looks like the CFO had a meeting with some investors today. That seems to have generated some positive feeling. I think a merger/acquisition/network sharing deal has to be in the works. Other than that there's no real news that would account for the spike in stock price.
