  1. I've thought about doing a replacement, but I've had this phone since new. I have almost always had problems with refurbs so I'm trying to hold out.

Was it always doing reboots or is it just since the marshmallow update?

  2. I've had 3 restarts since I did this, so I guess it didn't work for me.

Could just be that the ram on your phone is going bad. I had to replace mine a couple months back because it was just rebooting constantly.  Always seemed random and the app I was using didn't seem to matter.

  3. I'm now going about 16 hours without an unexpected reboot. I did a phone reprovision using ##72786# and it went through the process and the phone has been OK so far. I'll report back later to see if it kept working or not.

Question for you. Do you encrypt your Note 4? Mine did a soft reboot yesterday and I've trying to figure out if maybe the encryption is part of problem. But I don't want to wipe my phone again just to unencrypt it.

  4. Doesn't it seem weird that it's happening to a bunch of people after a software update? It would seem to me that it's a software issue, not a hardware issue.

My phone has rebooted itself once since I did the factory reset yesterday. I guess I'll keep using it for awhile to see how it goes. I hate to have to pay for a replacement device. I don't have TEP so someone earlier said it would be $75. I could probably also use my 3rd party warranty, but the replacement cost through them would be even more.

Didn't say it's one or the other. Yours might very well be faulty software. Mine was not. I think the marshmallow update was just the last straw. I always had problems with mine freezing and re-locking itself randomly.  So I wonder if those were just early signs of failure.  I hope yours continues without issue.  So far my replacement has worked fine.

And yes, $75 is what I was charged at my local shop to replace the phone. Although they did make sit there until I got the phone to reboot.  They wouldn't order a replacement otherwise.  I don't do TEP.  Instead I was putting the $11 I would have paid into a savings account each month.  After 10 months of having the phone I actually came out ahead.

  5. If anyone is still having issues with random reboots, I seemed to have fixed the problem with a factory reset. I finally had the time to do it this evening and my phone has not rebooted once since. Yesterday, my phone rebooted around 10 times at random times and I finally had enough of it. I'll post back if I start having problems again, but hopefully that fixed the problem for good.

Factory reset may or may not fix it. If it's a software problem it probably will, but if it's a hardware failure it won't.  Mine kept doing it after several factory resets.  Pretty much chalked it up to failing hardware somewhere inside the phone.  Probably either the internal storage or the ram was starting to fail.  The replacement phone I received hasn't shown any of those problems.

  6. Where is the doze settings on the Note 4 after the update?

There's no specific Doze setting.  It's on by default.  You can go into Settings>Battery>App Power Saving and click the detail button to set when power saving kicks in for each individual app installed.  But doze is running all the time.

  7. I haven't done a factory reset yet, but it seems like it has been rebooting less often than it had. I think it only did it once yesterday.

Will Sprint order a replacement even if it's past the warranty? Mine has long since run out. I bought it on launch day.

I went ahead and did a factory reset on it yesterday.  It rebooted once after that, but it hasn't happened since.  I'm out of town right now anyway so I could take it to a store. But if it happens again today I'll be stopping by my local sprint shop on the way back home.

  8. Has anybody else had any trouble with random reboots since the upgrade? It seems mine has been rebooting on its own about 3 times per day. I know I should do a factory reset to get a clean install, but I'm curious if anyone else has had this same problem?

I had a few.. And that was with a clean install.

I'm trying a freshly formatted different SD card in case that doesn't anything.

Did either of you two see success? Mine started rebooting about 2 days ago.  It's highly frustrating.  I'm about ready to take it to store and see if they can do anything about it. I did a factory reset right after the marshmallow update installed and it seemed to work fine for the first 4 days.  Then suddenly Monday night it started with the reboots and hasn't stopped since.

Marshmallow 6.01 beta has been leaked on XDA. Looks official. I'm not going to install since I'm not sure if that will cause an issue when the final release comes, but there's some eye candy in the meantime :)

As expected the Wal-Mart Spark spinner is gone!

In fact it sounds buggy so I wouldn't recommend it

Finally. Hope this leads to an update soon.

  10. Sweet thanks, I'm tempted to go up to a note 5 but I'm kinda waiting to see if sprint is gonna carry the priv. I've heard that samsung pay works at a lot more places because it uses something that virtualize the card swipe. If that works with them would android pay support it with a update?

You mean the virtual credit card swipe? If so, then no. Samsung Pay uses technology Samsung acquired from a company called LoopPay. It requires that hardware be integrated into the device. That's why it only works on the Galaxy s6 and higher.

  11. Really off-topic....I've got a pair of wired Beats headphones - they're about 3 or so years old. I'd love to find a bluetooth adapter so I can use them wirelessly, but not sure if it's possible (i.e., how would they receive power to operate?). To the people who are much smarter than I: 1) Is it possible? 2) If so, what adapter do you recommend? Everything I've come across looks bulky and ridiculous.

Just go to amazon and search for bluetooth headphone receivers. Lots to choose from in various shapes and sizes. I have never used one myself though so I don't know how well they work. They usually have a rechargeable battery in them which should provide enough power to drive the headphones.

Here's a fairly high rated one I found:

  12. Just heard two interesting points....

    1) Other "Forever" Programs are coming for other brand devices.

    2) iPhone for $1 on a 2 Year Contract at Target

    Did I hear this correctly?

Here's a transcript of the interview.

  13. That sucks, I've used the Insurance a couple of times already. It's nice to have.

Motorola has their own extended warranty plan. Also have other options like Squaretrade.  Lacks convenience of just going to a Sprint store, but you can still get your device fixed.

  14. Sammobile report sprint is rolling out the android 5.1.1 update.  Anyone got the change log? I wonder if it fix the bluetooth problem my wife is experiencing

You are kind of late to this one.  The 5.1.1 update started rolling out more than a week ago.  But for the record I can't say I've noticed any bluetooth problems afterwards.

    Here's the changelog:

So all of the other countries that were in the value roaming plan are included too but you have to pay for the data. Hmm. Wonder if eventually they'll get 1gb of data too. It is good that Sprint is charging per kb used and not a whole GB. Will probably wind up adding this to my account. Not that I do much international traveling.
