    LG G3

That's the only reason I'm thinking it's a software issue. My Bose, Sony, and Yurbuds all work fine no problems or weird noises. But when I plug it into my truck it sees the cord as being plugged it but as soon as I try to play anything on Pandora or Google play music app it disconnects and plays through the phone. I do have a cheap wind up cable but it has work fine for my Galaxy S5 and One M8.

I agree with you.  I do believe it's a software issue.  The G3 would not mechanically connect to one device and not another unless there was some sort of EXTREME impedance mismatch.

I tried connecting the G3 to a vacuum tube headphone amplifier that I have.  That worked flawlessly.  The G3 saw the tube amp as a line output.  The G3 does tend to put out some RF noise or LCD noise though.

I remember reading on some forum about a quite a few had the issue. I haven't tried the plug and unplug until it works method. I just plug it in and if it doesn't work then I use Bluetooth but doesn't sound as good. Mine might work 2 out of 10 tries. But if I plug in a headset or headphones it works like a champ. Only the aux is giving me problems so far.

I just tried my G3.  Like yours, it works great with headphones.  When plugging in a portable speaker, it's hit or miss.  Using the plug and unplug method can get it to work, but the speaker picks up "screen noise".  I haven't tried AUX in my car, as I always use Bluetooth, but I suspect the same.

Do these manufacturers even bother to alpha test this stuff?  They had to know this problem existed before release.  I would say that consumers are the new beta testers, but I really believe we are the alpha testers.  You should be able to place a 3.5 mm plug into the jack on the G3 and whatever device you plug in should work - whether it be a speaker, AUX or headphones.  We should not have to go to extremes buying special cables and wasting our time plugging and unplugging to get the damn thing to work!

Manufacturers just want to get the stuff to market nowadays.  They don't appear to care if the devices work properly or not.

Hopefully a fix will come soon.

It's carrier unlocked for sure. I have to get my TMO sim from my daughters phone and try it.

    Let us know....

  1. Since I've been reading this thread on N5 scan times, I had to try LTE scan time my LG G3.  I wend deep under my porch in my basement.  It was really hard to get the phone to drop back to 3G.  The G3 held on to the B26 signal down to -122 dBm.  I tried data at that level and it was flakey until I was back to about -118 dBm which then loaded web pages acceptably fast.

When the phone fell back to 3G it was on 1xRTT - didn't get EV DO or eHRPD at all (I was in that dense of an underground area).  I held it there for about a minute then moved the phone to a stronger signal area.  The G3 literally reconnected to LTE B26 instantly.  In fact when it was right at the threshold, using Mike's SCP app, I literally could see the connection fluttering between LTE and 1xRTT.  Never saw any Sprint Tri Band phone trigger like that before.  The G3 with its current radio and settings switches instantly.  Flipped me out.  I was able to repeat this test a few times with the exact same results - including the fluttering between 1xRTT and LTE B26 at threshold level.

I am most impressed with the reception of the G3.

I didn't want to jack this thread - just wanted to share my personal experience with the G3 scan time with all of you.  Hope you found it very interesting as I did.

  2. Experienced HD voice today...oh my gosh, I've never heard something so clear

You guys are making me jealous.  My girlfriend and I had a partial HD call this week.  She called me twice and neither one of us could hear each other.  We had to hang up - no voice whatsoever.  She said her phone said HD in the display (Galaxy S4T) during the dead calls.  I then called her back and she said OH MY GOD you sound awesome, the call then reverted back to SD at that point.  Each time I place a call to her, my phone (LG G3) displays "Attempting HD", but it's never been successful yet.  Hopefully Shentel will tweak this soon.

So if the G3s radio is the same across all variants, should we not be able to hack an unlock that allowed me to use my prepaid sims in this phone? One is a piggyback on Sprint and the other is TMO prepaid. I just want one device to rule them all. This phone should be capable of running any sim unless Ive missed something?....

Sprint wants to freak out about it being capable of running any sim cuz they are convinced Im gonna run away to some other carrier. I just wanna sell my secondary devices and keep the sims active but I need to use them sometimes. They are active after all. This device can run them all, it should be pretty simple coding somewhere that says not to allow all radio bands?

Here is a link to the CDMA frequency bands on the G3  It also shows which GSM bands are available.  Sprint's version is unique though...

I chatted with LG support before I submitted mine.  I was told that even though I purchased my phone on 8/1 that I was still eligible.  Kept the transcript of the chat in case they deny me.  Have not heard back from them yet though.

I called LG when I was denied the battery because I purchased the G3 on ebay "New Sealed".  They told me they had nothing to do with the promotion.  I had to contact smsrebates.com.  I sent them an email and never heard back.  Totally blows!

    LG G3

now that you mention I have that crack

If we have the crack we are supposed to contact LG for a replacement.

    LG G3

That blows, I've not heard back from them stating I was rejected after a second review, but I also have not received anything as of yet in form of a shipping confirmation either.Well, I hope for the best for you!

Well, I hope for the best for you!  It may just take a little time.  You think they would slide it to individuals who purchased new sealed G3's  That way they promote good will and get a lot of free advertising.  Oh well...

What was the reason you were rejected the first time?

    LG G3

I heard back from LG on the free battery and charger promo.

I was denied because I purchased the phone "new sealed box" on ebay.

I guess it all depends on who reviews the entry material.

I may try the Google keyboard.  I did figure out how to customize the bottom keys on the LG keyboard and get the microphone as the default so I'm happy with the LG keyboard for now.

    Got it.  Thanks again.

My microphone will not stay.  I checked the "Bottom Row keys" settings and there were only symbols.  No microphone.  When long pressing the cog, I am presented with microphone, but can't get it to replace the cog.  Hmmmm...

    I finally found this webpage:

    http://www.lg.com/us/support/product-help/doc-1403828818044-en-LGEAI

But the most important part is this:

    LG G3 D850 KEYBOARD BASICS

Change the themes, options, and settings for the LG Keyboard.

To access the settings, from the Home screen, tap Apps  > Settings  > General tab (if applicable) > Language & input  > tap Gear icon  to the right of the LG keyboard, and then tap Keyboard height and layout.

    Bottom row keys

Allows you to change voice input, handwriting, symbol keys, and more. Tap Bottom row keys. Select and drag to add or delete keys or change the order. Tap  to reset the keyboard layout to default.

    A big thanks!

How did you get the microphone to replace the setting's cog?  I did that on my G2, but can't remember what I did...

    LG G3

I had my G3 on Art for 2 weeks and during that time had it freeze 4 times. On dalvik I have not had that at all. Been using the g3 since launch.

My G3 hasn't crashed yet per se...  I have had the smart card notification get stuck in a loading loop when I first turned on the phone and got to the homepage.  I had to power cycle the phone to get it to stop.

    LG G3

I was outside for a while last Saturday and it was a very bright, sunny day.  The G3's screen was very easy to read even in the bright light.  My old S3 could be very difficult to see sometimes when it was especially bright outside but the G3 was very clear and there was no need to use my hand to make shade.

I think the brightness is adequate, but when on 100% it sure does suck the battery down!

    LG G3

There has been some talk about the G3 screen not being as bright as some other phones in the same category.  In fact some say the sunlight visibility is poor.

I leave the lab and go for a 2 mile walk in our industrial park every day at lunch.  Yesterday it was very sunny outside, and I had no difficulty at all viewing the G3 screen.

Here is a link to a YouTube video that shows how much brighter the Sprint G3 is, as compared to the AT&T G3.  Could this be a glue issue like the N5?

  3. When connecting the LG G2 to your car with Bluetooth does anyone have an issue prior to selecting an audio app on your phone that the phone keeps flashing "no music to play?" It doesn't seem to impact anything other than the annoying message. I either use Google Play Music or BeyondPod. I don't have any local mp3 files on the device so there is nothing for the stock Music app to play which I am sure is the source of this message. Any way to stop it?

Mine doesn't flash that message.  I don't have any music on my G2 either.  I stream everything.

  4. I would be careful in making that assertion.  Nothing in the Galaxy Note II's RF output figures showed it to be an exceptional performer, yet it was.  We cannot judge by ERP/EIRP alone.

    AJ

Yes, I can attest to the Sprint Note 3 being a stellar performer.  The B25 performance was amazing.  Now the Verizon version on the other hand could not receive a signal if you put the phone in a paper bag.  It was like being in a Faraday cage.

  5. Yep to those who said they'd be pissed I can just sell the device and get another nexus 5. Or trade for a different device. I haven't played with the note 3 but actually look forward to testing it out, even with it being single band. I am going to play around with the note for a bit. Given that the device was hard bricked and sitting broken I may have benefited some.

I have a note 3. It's a great phone and very well built. The only problem..., once you've been living on band 26, going back to band 25 with its limitations takes getting used to again.

  6. Reading the TKTechNews article about the Verizon and AT&T exclusive gave me a headache. That author can't write grammatically correct sentences to save his life. An "and" was missing the "d." Snapdragon was spelled with a space. Nexus wasn't capitalized in a few places. There were inconsistencies all over the place. I definitely would read this article with a grain of salt, and if he turns out right, well, then either his sources were correct or it was pure coincidence, and good for him, but I cannot take that kind of writing if they are aiming for credibility.

I Agree.  He doesn't know the difference between there & their either!  I had to chuckle at his writing skills.

    LG G3

So I ended up getting 4 Hrs 28 Min S.O.T before battery went to zero charge.  This to me is outstanding.  I have the brightness cranked way up with YAAB.  This also includes me playing with, and setting up the phone from last evening into today.  I'm happy with this.  We'll see how it goes over the next 4 to 5 discharge/recharge cycles.
