  1. Did you already send yours back again?  I'm sending mine tomorrow.  My only backup device is an LG Optimus S so it's going to be a rough week. LOL

No I didn't send my G2 back again yet, I've been procrastinating. I have a Samsung Galaxy Mega that I'm currently using.

  2. Man, I hate that the shipping cost to send it in is on you.  They should cover it if they find defect on the device!!!  The UPS store nearby charges like $20 each time I send something like this out.

I feel for you!  I paid $17.XX to send mine back to TX.  I have a UPS account - that's with my discount!

  3. Typically B26 is turned on at low power initially. So it is not unusual for B26 to have similar coverage, or sometimes even less than B25. Later crews come in, they will turn up the power and optimize the signal. Then B26 will reach to its furthest extent.

I am experiencing this right now in Harrisburg PA (Shentel).

  4. I think I will send my G2 out for repair soon. My GPS is terrible and my CPU stutters and makes music have delays and make strange sounds.

I'm hearing some people are having to put paper next to the GPS antenna to fix it...I would rather get it actually fixed.

Good luck with your repair Ascertion! Mine worked for about a week when it came back from LG repair, then stopped working again. I'm sending it back a second time for the same repair.

  5. Ugh, now this has me worried.   I just sent mine back for repair and am still waiting for it.

Good Luck with yours. Hopefully yours will be treated more carefully than mine was. Getting ready to send mine back a second time since the first repair failed.

  6. Sorry, I didn't mean to piss you off more than you already are lol. I totally get how you feel though.

I had similar GPS issues with the LG Nexus 5 too. Oddly enough, getting that fixed was a way simpler process. All I had to do was contact Google Play support via email then go back and forth with troubleshooting steps. Once their support concluded that there was a GPS defect, they e-mailed me an invoice that put a hold on my credit card, then I just mailed back my defective phone when I got the new phone in the mail. Simple, right?

Well, there you go!  Google customer service vs LG customer service...

  8. When they sent the phone back to me unfixed, I requested for them to give me a shipping label. I don't believe it's fair for them to have the customer pay for something they should have done the first time. You could request a shipping label from them like I did.

I'm in the same boat as you about selling this phone. If I run into the same crap you did, then I'm not going to want to dump the problem onto a buyer.

You know, the more I think about this shoddy LG stuff, the more pissed I become.  I am going to take your suggestion and request a return shipping label.  It's just wrong to stick me as a customer with a faulty device.  LG's quality control is abysmal!  Never again...Now my device also is all scratched up from their first repair attempt.  Jerks...

  9. I just started using this phone as my LG G2 has GPS issues which were repaired by LG and stopped working again.

I must say I am really impressed with the Mega!  Screen is beautiful, battery life outstanding and call quality is excellent.

Did anyone notice that after the KK update, some of the fonts on the phone appear smaller?  Is this my imagination?  For instance, if I go into the 'Speedtest" app, the entire graphics of the app are smaller than on a phone with a smaller screen.  I don't remember it being like this before the KK update.

  10. The last two digits of the GCI tell you the sector number for carrier you are connected to.  01, 02, 03 are different sectors of the Carrier with the ID of 0FE051.  Sectors 0A and 0B are different sectors, and connected to a different B25 carrier at the same site.

I am not able to identify any of the equipment with the resolution of your photo.  Too small for these middle aged eyes to see.

    Robert

Robert, Thanks much for the explanation.  My photo is horrible after I compressed it to fit here.  It looks amazing in 13MP native format.  I'm going to have to try and upload a better image.

I did have some of the equipment on that tower explained to me in person, by a Shentel Field Engineer  who I have been working closely with over the last few days.  I must say I am AMAZED at how responsive and helpful Shentel is!!!!!!  They defintiely want their network to be number one!

I may have some good things to share with S4GRU shortly.

  11. My mother is getting the Note 4 as soon as it comes out.  I'll probably get to compare it with the G2 so I'll let you know how it is, if you don't have it already by then.  B)

I would appreciate that very much. I really love my Note 3. It's the best phone i've ever owned. I hope the Note 4 takes this to the next level.

  12. What device you going with?  I'm actually kinda getting bored with the G2 myself.  Going to wait out the Nexus 6.

I'm kinda tweaked by the Nexus 6 as well.  There's really nothing out that I like at the moment.  The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is a very high contender on my list.  They're saying September 3rd it will be unveiled.  Great RF performance is definitely a prerequisite.

  13. Are you having the issue just after a reboot?

I sent my G2 back into LG and hope they actually repair it this time. I intend to keep sending it in and wasting their money until they get it right.

Yesterday it was having trouble locking on.  It took a little while.  Today I went for a walk on my lunch hour, turned on MAPS and nothing.  Checked it with GPS test and nothing.  The problem didn't manifest itself just after a reboot.  The G2 was on for a while.  800 LTE just lit up in Harrisburg, so I was checking things out.

I don't blame you by sending yours back again and again, but it cost me $17 UPS to send mine to TX the first time.  It'll probably cost me more than LG to do battle with them.

I rebooted the phone several times and the GPS just went dead again.  I give up.  This phone has wasted way too much of my time resetting and restoring everything.  I'll probably just trade it in.  I don't want to sell it and stick someone else.

The earpiece speaker started crackling again today as well.  I thought that issue had been fixed with the litany of updates but.....

  14. I have a few questions about ——-----------, that I'm hoping someone with expertise here can answer.

This site was formerly owned by AT&T, located behind the Harrisburg PA UPS Hub in Steelton/Swatara Township. It is currently owned by Crown Castle and is used by AT&T and Sprint. I live on the South side of this tower by about 0.5 nautical miles. I work on the North side of this tower by about 0.25 nautical miles. This site is NV accepted and operating. Recently within the last 3 weeks or so, I noticed my signal at home is abysmal. I called Sprint to inquire. The first call I made, I was told there was no problem. After another week, I called again. Someone with a little more knowledge of how to use their diagnostic tools was able to dig deeper and found that one of the south facing arrays was down for a data speed upgrade. This explains why I am having trouble receiving both 3G and LTE from this site at home.

Some of the GCI's I have received from this site are: 0FE05101, 0FE05102, 0FE05103, 0FE0510A, 0FE0510B all on Band 25. This site is not currently transmitting on Band 26. Are the A and B suffixes second carriers?

My most pressing question is: by the pictures I have posted here, can someone please tell me which equipment belongs to Sprint and which equipment belongs to AT&T?

I'm trying to educate myself on just what exactly I am looking at when I see this tower. I'm trying to gain knowledge. I would be most appreciative for any and all information, S4GRU members are willing to share. My thanks!

  15. I just had to send my phone in for repair the screen stopped working the top third of it. It is in flawless condition it'll be interesting to see how it comes back. I had an issue with a Samsung battery while back a long time ago and Samsung sent me a shipping label I was pretty pissed that LG would make me pay for my lable to send this phone in.

LG replaced my touch sensor while the G2 was in for its GPS repair.  I never really noticed anything about the touch sensor that didn't operate correctly though.

  16. It's ridiculous that they mailed it back to you like that. From my experience alone, I can understand why you'd just let it be.

It's a real shame too, outside of the GPS problems I have, I absolutely love the phone even more than my Nexus 5. I think LG just needs better quality control.

You're correct. LG does need much better quality control. As Faber said, that's a management thing.

I originally hated the G2 and put it away in a drawer after I received it back on November 8th. Mine was plagued with all the problems. I recently resurrected it to check out LTE 800. I am impressed how good the phone has gotten through all the updates. I think it even sounds as good as my Note 3 after the litany of upgrades.

Now the Shentel tower near me is upgrading data speeds, so most of the time I only get 3G. I am again using my Samsung GN3. I'll get the G2 back out when my tower is working correctly again. At least the GPS is now fixed.

  17. My phone kept rebooting awhile back and I had to send it out for repair.  They said they replaced the powerboard and when I got it back, my device had 3 noticeable scratches on the screen.  Whatever they do in the repair centers, they're not gentle!

If I had someone else's property in my hands, I would treat it with the utmost care. They just slop it through!

  18. Edit2: Samsung did that to me my previous phone. Didn't ship back my phone box. I decided I was keeping my LG box lol. Glad I did.

I'm really pi__ed about that. They told me not to send any accessories in, but never mentioned not to use the original box.

I guess they're just to disorganized to keep the device with its box and keep track of it. Too much in a hurry to crank things through.

I'm also miffed about the little dents they made in the bright metal trim near the SIM card slot where they opened the device. I could have done a slop job like that myself!

  19. Yeah, that sounds like what I'm experiencing. GPS takes 1-2 minutes to get a fix even on "High Accuracy" mode; this is also outdoors and with a clear sky.

I sent my phone in once already to their repair shop in Texas to fix the GPS, but they sent it back claiming "no defects found". I'm gonna send it in again and hope they finally fix it this time. Like you, I had the same experience with their customer support and this will probably be my last LG phone too. You're correct.  My GPS was outside under clear skies and took forever to lock on if it ever did.

My GPS actually got to the point under clear skies where it would take forever to lock on, if it ever did.  Finally it died altogether.

Good luck sending yours back.  The service center is in Texas, but call center in India.  Makes life wonderful!

At least in my case, they got it working spectacularly.  LG actually installed an entire new chip.  Obviously they have problems with many of these...

  20. Out of curiosity, how bad was your GPS?

My GPS could be anywhere from a block off to 40 miles.  It finally wouldn't receive a signal at all - that's when I sent it in to LG for repair.  LG marked up the small silver band around the phone when they opened it, but at least they did correctly fix the GPS.  It now instantly locks on and shows correct location..

  21. I can wait and thanks for the heads up.

I received the G2 back from LG yesterday. LG installed a new screen (they said the old one was defective) and a new chipset. The device was on ZVC again when i received it back and had an LG splash screen instead of Sprint. The GPS now works. LG nicked up the silver band around the side of the device and didn't return my factory box. The entire LG repair experience was horrible. You get a call center in India when setting up the return. I had an extremely difficult time trying to understand what the relresentative was saying. I'm not happy at all about losing my factory box. When i go to sell the device it will be worth less without the original box.

After reinstalling everything the LTE symptoms were the same. Fall back to 3 and stay there

I checked the BSR timer and it was set to 3000. I changed that to 3 and had better luck switching between 3G and LTE.

It appears that the ZVD update does indeed cause the LTE issues. The BSR timer appears to correct the issue.

Now an array is down on the Shentel tower near my house for data speed upgrades, so I can't really check out band 26.

This entire experience with multiple calls to LG for the original problem of the GPS repair and having to deal with their inadequate call center is enough to make me think twice about a future purchase of an LG product.

Thanks to all on S4GRU and XDA who posted about the BSR timer issue.
