  1. I have had good luck so far with the 6+.  As Vince said, the volume could be a little louder.  I also have to agree with Vince that the volume depends on the quality of the other party's line that you are connected to.  If it is HD Voice with another Sprint customer, you will have great clarity and volume.  If the other party is using something else, it can vary.  With the vented hoods as background noise, I do not know if there is enough volume to overcome that with any phone.

The vibration mode is quite strong.  Depending where you carry the phone can make a difference.

The only other part I would mention if you decide to go with the 6+ is purchasing a good case.  As you can read on this thread, a good case will pay for itself quickly.

Thanks Steve & Dean for your input.

My Note 4 is of adequate volume near the fume hoods, but not outstanding. The LG G2 & LG G3 are really good in noisy environments. They crank through the earpiece!

Some owners of the 6 Plus said they had to activate the hearing aid function in order to be gain adequate volume.   Just for laughs, I tried that on the Note 4. It really does a nice job of permanently adding extra volume. On the G2 and G3, the hearing aid function narrows down the frequency response making the earpiece  sound extremely tinny. Of course those two devices are really loud and more than adequate to begin with.

At least after hearing you both  say the 6 Plus volume is ok and the device has great sound, I'm less apprehensive about the purchase.

I'll also look for a good case for the device. At $949, I'd hate to destroy it with a single slip of the hand!

    Thanks again.

  2. I am thinking of purchasing the iPhone 6 Plus 128 GB Gold.  I have read many complaints from users who claim that the earpiece volume is not loud enough when turned up the entire way.  These individuals say that they realize they have to remove the plastic and have indeed done so.

Please forgive me if there was a previous post on this thread about an issue with low earpoece volume.  I searched first, but only found a comment about not removing the plastic covering over the earpiece.

From what I have read, this issue appears to be specific to the 6 Plus and not the 6.

Does any owner here feel that the earpiece volume is indeed lacking or inadequate on their 6 Plus?  I work in a lab where fume hoods roar and I want to make sure, before spending that kind of money.  My Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is adequate in the envirnment that I use it in, but just wanted to check and see what 6 Plus owners think.

One more question:  How is the vibrator motor in the 6 Plus?  I can never even feel the one in my Note 4 even with the intensity up to the max.

A big thanks to all responders!

  3. I am totally with you!  I loved my Mega but it was just too sluggish and the screen was way too washed out...

I resurected my Mega 6.3 just this week and use it at home on WiFi as "twospitits" does.  I cannot say that my screan is washed out.  I was comparing photos on the Mega 6.3 screen to my Galaxy Note 4.  I was really impressed with the screen quality.  I couldn't believe how vivid and vibrant the colors were along with the overall brightness and saturation.  I liked the way the 720p Mega 6.3 screen held up against the Note 4 quad HD screen.  No complaints.

I really wish Samsung would make a new Mega 6.3 with an amoled panel and modern Snapdragon processor.  It would be killer.

    LG G3

has anyone had issues with the default LG keyboard and autocorrect? my brother has this phone and is having a terrible time with autocorrect screwing things up. He ended up switching to google's keyboard and said it was much better, but i was wondering if anyone else had issues with the LG one and knew of any settings to try or if anyone had any suggestions on another keyboard to try out?

some examples of issues he had, typing "dad" would auto correct to "!!!" and if he miss-typed "doesn't" with an "f" on the front it wouldn't auto correct it to doesn't, it would just leave it as "foesn't" and then if he would spell doesn't correctly it would change it to "foesn't". we did try clearing out the saved words history but it didn't help. he also tried several levels of the auto correct but it didn't seem to help the issues he was having.

My G3 keyboard does that nonsense as well. I would like to switch to the Google keyboard but hate the android characters instead of the regular smileys.

The LG keyboard appears a little snappier after today's software update, but that wasn't on the list if additions and fixes.

    LG G3

That's what I was hoping to hear lol. Was on the fence about parting with my money and just needed someone to push me over the edge lol. Thanks!

So did you take the plunge?  I really love my G3.  The RF is really good and sound quality is excellent.  The only gripe (hopefully fixed in the forthcoming update) is the convoluted headphone jack.

  4. No, I'm just picky. After a year, it typically holds ~70-80% of the battery life it did when you first had it.

You are correct. The battery in the G2 is not easy to replace. I saw a tear - down video on YouTube.

With my G3, I have only needed to recharge every 2 to 3 days. Hopefully this will slow down the battery degradation.   Of course, the battery is replaceable anyway, so no big deal.

  5. So, I replaced my battery today with one I ordered off eBay.  (Don't worry, it's an OEM one! LOL)

I'll just say right now that it was a pain in the arse and very scary because the battery is not easily replaced. I had to literally take the phone apart. I'll report back with battery results but hopefully this bad boy gets me more juice throughout the day.

Did your original battery die in less than a year?

  6. Sounds like Sprint will start selling it on the 14th. 32GB Midnight Blue only, $299 on contract (or $29/month), $699 retail. I was hoping they'd at least have the 64GB available online but the employee posting doesn't see any other SKUs in the system.

Boo - I want the 64 GB Regular Lou Gramm model!  Don't want the half a Gramm!

  7.

Here is the correct Sprint part number: 760492013512

    ITEM DESCRIPTION: SIMCARD USIMLTEGSM4FF REMOV

Mine came about a week ago. I called Sprint International 1-888-226-7212. They will gladly help you.

Now, I've got the SIM, Have a Case coming next Monday along with a horizontal pouch. I just need to get a Nexus 6 64 GB Midnight Blue into my hands!

Where did you get a case from so fast. I have a 3 piece iBlason case coming in 3 weeks; which is as fast as I could get it.

I don't have the case yet. It will be released on Monday from a seller on Amazon.

Here is a link in-case you want to check it out. It should ship to me on Monday. I've been using the same case on my LG G3 and really like it.

  8. Are we sure the current UICC/SIM cards being used are the same as the one needed for the Nexus 6?

I remember somewhere saying a new SIM would be required for LTE roaming. Could this phone be the first requiring a different type of SIM?

You bring up a valid question. The 760492013512 physically fits, but as for 100% rural roaming compatibility, I don't know.

EDIT: I didn't see Lilotimz post before I replied.

  9. It seems they're actually clueless.

I tried preemptively ordering a nano SIM from Sprint International. They at first said OK and I ended up receiving a micro SIM yesterday. I contacted them and said they sent the wrong one, but they insisted it was correct for a Nexus 5 (my original request had it in writing that it was for an unreleased Nexus 6 that took a nano SIM).

After a back and forth where I explained again that it wasn't for a Nexus 5, they refused to send a nano SIM saying it wasn't in their database and they didn't know what size it took.... I said that it was a regular nano SIM and they made some excuse saying to prevent damage to my equipment and ensure optimal performance they can't send it out until it's in their database.

I'm tempted to just call and ask for a SIM for a Moto X. I'm guessing that takes the same nano SIM?

I litterally ordered as well, i double checked the order status and low and behold she too put in an order for a 3FF simcard. I restarted the chat and told them If I could use the 3FF in the phone I want to activate I would have done so. So Please cancel the order and send me the correct one i initially requested. I didn't mention the phone i was activating.

  10. Funny how #2 (AT&T) is just getting to HD voice and #3 (Sprint) has had it for what a year now (maybe not everywhere/nationwide but the roll out was pretty fast for Sprint once they got a market up and running with NV 1.0 complete if I am not mistaken).  I think Sprints standard voice call quality is top of the line best between all carriers and has been for years in my opinion.

Yeah, Sprint's voice call quality is really good.  In addition, I've experienced HD voice a few times and it is amazing.  I wish Sprint would get it to the point where when you meet all the requirements, you get HD voice every time.  Now I only experience HD when meeting all the requirements 1 in every 20 calls or so.

  11. If non-Sprint carriers get it first, or some carriers have the 64GB model and Sprint doesn't, is there any reason why we couldn't just buy it from a different carrier and use it on Sprint? Or do they usually force you to have an active account with them? I'm guessing T-Mobile would be the easiest carrier to do this with.

That's a good question.  Anybody know the answer?

  12. That tells us very little -- especially if only a few hundred to a few thousand were available for sale.  Nexus handset sales via Google Play may seem like a big deal, but they are a tempest in a teapot in the grand scheme of handset sales.  A supply limitation would not significantly "create desire."

    AJ

Do you think that the carrier's supplies will be somewhat limited as well?  I'm sure all of us that want a Nexus 6 will eventually get one - it's just a waiting game now.

  13. I doubt it.  Not that many people are interested in Nexus handsets -- the mindshare is just too small outside of our industry/tech enclave.  And my estimate is that Google Play yesterday sold only a few thousand units.  This is not on the scale of an iPhone launch in which millions want one, and many of those millions may have to wait while supply works to meet demand.

    AJ

I read an article that stated the 32 GB white sold out in 20 seconds whereas the blue sold out in 45 seconds.

  14. lmao

So this article I read earlier today states that the reason the nexus 6 was out so quickly is because the majority of the purchases was made previously by the carriers thus depleting the amount Google had in stock to sell. Whether true or not, it probably makes sense.

    TS

Well, if that is true, that was good planning on Google's part!  Great management!

  15. I went back a few pages and checked the search function and couldn't find an answer, so pardon  if this is a duplicate question.

Any word when Sprint's preorder will go live?  I'm already subscribed to updates from sprint/nexus6

T-Mobile states November 12. I assume Sprint would be around that time just to be competitive.
