If you are cheap and don't want to pay for the pro version, there is also an app called "Button Mapper" that does a lot of the same things from what I have read.  That's what I'm currently using.

Edit:  Nevermind - pocket detection is also extra on this app.  I just don't use it, so didn't look before.

yeah, was about to reply with that. Bxactions is also seamless and has the option to remove Bixby altogether from any action. Not the same on Button Mapper. I never mind throwing a couple bucks a developers way considering it's all the Google Play credit I get from the Opinion Rewards app. ha.

Really? I mean I have to place it on the charger by midday. I don't do much in terms of heavy processor usage but the standby time is horrible

Have you tried to install something like CPU Spy to see if your phone is making it into deep sleep? I haven't used those apps in several phone generations because it hasn't been necessary. If I sit my phone down on my desk and do not touch it, it'll go to sleep, be cold to the touch, and barely use any battery percentage at all during that time. Your phone is definitely an outlier and I assume you have some sort of rouge app that's consuming up your battery. The battery stats page doesn't tell the best story there.....what does the Device Care in settings say about it? Any apps flagged for crashes?

EDIT: have you removed App Stack, Lookout, etc. all the preinstalled garbage?

I was having some serious data issues last night and did some reading. Apparently Sprint is aware of the issue. Someone posted to disable B41 and it is fixing the issue for some people. So far, that seems to be working for me. I had zero data on B25 and now it's working after disabling B41. Hopefully Sprint and Samsung can figure out what the issue is and get a patch out quickly. This is frustrating to have a new phone that I have to use neutered.

I've had spotty data for sure, but I had spotty data occasionally with my S9+. I'm betting whatever issue on this phone was the same with the S9. Hopefully they get it sorted, that would be wonderful. Also, I hope they fix WiFi calling too. It's been a little annoying with these bugs on what is overall an excellent phone. All software based, so I'm sure they'll sort them out by Christmas.

Maybe this has been posted here, but I was reading over in Reddit about this app:

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jamworks.bxactions

It works awesome to make that Bixby button actually useful. If you follow the instructions and give it deeper access via connection to computer, it works on lock screen and such (no root needed or any funny business, just a couple adb commands). I've got mine set to sound toggle and flashlight when screen is off, and screenshot while screen is on. Also can use the in-pocket detection to make sure you don't trigger things inadvertently. Very slick app.

  4. I finally dumped the screen protector and whaddayaknow, the fingerprint scanner never fails to recognize me and is just fine with how hard I press :) Feels more fluid without that dumb screen protector.

Heads up for those using WiFi calling. There's an issue, corroborated by a few others, that when the cellular signal is very low or unstable AND you have WiFi calling turned on....it'll give you the "unable to determine your location" notification over and over and over. The dangerous part of this is that your phone will be unable to make or receive any phone calls at all when you swipe away the notification until you come back into a strong network signal area. It looks though, like everything is connected and kosher though, which is the dangerous part, IMO.  I don't know how else to get to any Sprint/Samsung devs besides the Sprint forums, which I've posted there or through the chat support, which I've done as well.

Turning the phone on to airplane mode with WiFi on and WiFi calling on, works just fine. So there is some issue with WiFi/cellular fall back. And yes, I have turned off the "switch to cellular network when the WiFi is slow or unusable".

  5. Sorry, forgot to post this question:

My WiFi calling is not behaving very well like it did on my S9+. It keeps timing out for GPS location if it can't reach any cellular network, really frustrating when I'm working in the basement at work. Anyone know how to keep it from doing this? I have my location on "high accuracy" as it suggests which is already using WiFi networks, etc. My S9+ would rarely display this message, and only if the WiFi network lost internet connectivity.

Edit: it DOES work if I just enable Airplane mode, then enable WiFi and WiFi calling. Then it works fine. So I don't know what gives....

Was anyone else denied/rejected for their Galaxy Buds registration?  I pre-ordered my Prism Blue S10+ at my local Best Buy store on 2/24 and picked up on 3/8.  I then submitted the registration through the Shop Samsung app around 2PM ET on 3/8 with a picture of my store receipt and Pre-Order Agreement.  I received an update in the app this morning saying "We couldn’t approve your registration because: Your purchase did not occur within the retailer pre-order period."

I can't help but wonder if this is because Best Buy was having all sorts of system issues and ultimately had to cancel my order and re-sell in a new transaction. The thing is, I have the Pickup tag still on my box showing date picked, 3/7, so that should suffice, I would think.

I'm not very happy with Samsung and Best Buy.  After work, I'm heading to Best Buy to talk to the manager so they can make this right.

I did my parents' activations last night and had to submit my email proof of order in the pre-order window. I assume it'll get approved for both of them, but they said it could take 48 hours to approve.

Screen protector is great, well done Samsung. I do have to say, this phone is a beast for rf performance, I'm at work in the basement and I haven't dropped to 3G yet, still holding onto 2-3 bars of LTE. VoLTE worked fantastic just a few minutes ago very clear.

For me, the RF performance is about the same as the S8.

I am seeing far better RF performance over my S9+. My work building is poorly situated for any signal, was sitting on LTE 800 if I was lucky with dBm in the -120 range. Now I'm sitting with LTE 1900 B25^2 with a signal of -101 dBm in the same spot.

I also have had a few VoLTE calls and a few WiFi calling calls. Both were extremely clear and better than the garbage that was the Calling Plus!! Callers on the other end always said I was crackly with Calling Plus. Very pleased on this front as well.

One side note to folks that might use eduroam WiFi networks used by college campuses and such (where I work).....the WiFi certificate setup is different than "standard" Android 9.0 on say a Pickle3. You have to go and download the cert from support.comodo.com then connect to the eduroam. No idea why Samsung did this, but that's a fact jack.

It took forever for me to get use to having the fingerprint scanner on the back.  Now every time I pick up this damn s10+ I'm feeling for the fingerprint scanner on the back of the phone.

RIGHT THERE with you on that one. My method out of the pocket was finger on the reader. I have to get used to it too. I'm still piecing together missing apps and icons from my Nova backup corruption......

I'm not in on the GS10 love, but to answer your question from a more general perspective for my part:  in most cases where it matters, the majority of the apps I use where it really matters for me tend to (nowadays at least) have their own backup/restore ability, that (in most cases) interface with cloud options like Google Drive (my preference) or Dropbox to save/restore from.  I started setting up my LG G7 last night and using that method for Nova Launcher for example worked flawlessly to insta-restore my screen setup/icon layout/app drawer/etc exactly as it is on my G5.

Texts are a big thing for me as I prefer history preservation (not everyone cares).  I know there are slew of different approaches for that, but I prefer using the SMS Backup & Restore app for those - its an incredibly robust app for what it does.  For carrying over a few apps I have that you can't find through Play/etc anymore, I use MyBackup Pro that I've had for many years.

Man, my Nova backup was corrupted and that pissed me off royally. I had to use an old backup from about a year ago....sucks!

I've not had SMS/MMS backup problems using Google, always gets them back in place. I used to use 3rd party things as well, but didn't like more apps having access to my stuff than necessary.

  10. Question for you guys: Do you

    1. Let Google rebuild phone and restore app data
    2. Let Samsung rebuild phone and restore app data
    3. start completely fresh

I usually let Google do the heavy lifting and it normally does fine. However, with this rebuild, I found that none of my WiFi settings and such ported over. The Samsung backed-up items appear to be more complete and  using their "Settings" backup I now have all my bluetooth devices back, my WiFis, and even my personalized ringtones on my contacts. I think maybe I'll give Samsung the nod in the future.

A few apps do support data sync through Google very nicely. TinyCamPro for one, which is always a bear to re-set up, was already logged into all my IP cameras without any work. Not sure if I let Samsung rebuild, they would have been set up??

Curious what your experiences have been.

Out for delivery, should have it around noon today.

Anyway, how is the screen protector that comes with it?

Can't really tell it's on there at all. I was pleased with this. I'm not a fan of screen protectors at all, but I'll let this one slide. With my polarized sunglasses, the edges of the screen get that pink/rainbowy effect, so we'll see how much that annoys me moving forward.
