Wi-fi 6e missing (6 GHz on one of two ultras). Perhaps coming from an app?  Wifi analyzer can see the 6ghz, just can't see them to connect.  May try wifi reset, although communications reset could have been the source of this problem.  Others have reported it, so not an isolated issue.

Edit: Fixed: Rebooted into safe mode. Wifi 6e worked. Normal boot back. No wifi 6e in available nerworks.  Unistalled Asus Router app. Checked for Wifi 6e being visible in wifi available networks. Nothing. Deleted Netgear Genie app. Then saw networks. of mine I had not connected to in wifi available networks. Forgot the desired 2.4&5&6 SSID that did not show 6E. Connected to it again. 6e now works.

The S21U was very spotty with connecting to 6E. It would only see it on a router reboot. I thought it was more the router than the S21U, however my laptop would solidly connect to the 6E network, so it must have been the S21U. Since I'm on WiFi7 with the S24U, I haven't kept track of it. I will flip over and check it out later.

I think it takes at least a 5Gbps, if not 10Gbps to run Wi-Fi 7 out of room.  This should give headroom at the edges of the house with wired Mesh or multiple APs, and most definitely headroom with 1Gbps ISP.  Is that your experience -- great even to the edges in your house?

Yes, it's been a fine performer to the edges of my network that I've tested so far. Decent speeds about 50 yards away on my dog walks. S21U would hang and not send messages, etc. Haven't been scientific about it. My mesh is all wired but my ISP is limiting to 1-1.5 gbps (Spectrum).

How much isp bandwidth do you have versus your wifi 7 throughput on your S24 Ultra?

The S24U is a consistent 1+ gbps down (Everytime I've tested) whereas the S21U sometimes hit that when it would find the 6G network (which was rare). WiFi7 allows simultaneous 2.4/5/6 GHz connection unlike WiFi6 where you had to choose. 2.4/5 or 6.

I have serious WiFi issues in my house (100+ devices connected). I did it to myself, I know, but the TPLink BE85/95 have been awesome performers. Specific IoT, main, and guest networks. Nice to park the phone off the chatter.

  5. Anyone else have the Motorola wireless Android Auto dongle? The S24U is really aggressive about connecting to it after the car is long off, eg. car in garage and AA is still trying to connect to the S24U and won't connect to home WiFi. Wasn't the way with the S21U. Perhaps the WiFi is just a better performer? Maybe I have a setting wrong somewhere?

Nice to finally have a WiFi7 device to test out my home WiFi and enable the MLO network. Incredibly fast phone all around. Very impressed.

  6. Oh how exciting, I just got my shipping notification 2 weeks earlier than predicted delivery. First new phone in 3 years (S21 Ultra) after being an annual upgrader for a long time, lol. I'm dreading the re-set of all my authenticator codes and other dual auth apps.

I did order the car charger linked by @dkyeager  . I have a couple, but this one is lower profile. Thanks for the link! My wife also ordered an S24 Ultra (up from the S21+) so I need more powaaaa.

Looking forward to the camera upgrades.

We all knocked Sprint's pre-historic website and billing system for years, but this DIGITs thing and onboarding process for T-Mobile post-merger is a steaming pile of junk.

Sprint's Apple Watch onboarding process for cellular was so much better than this it's truly hard to believe.

On T-Mobile, the Watch is given a separate phone number for billing/tracking purposes (and shown on the DIGITs page) but the actual number that's used for calls/caller ID made from the Watch is the number for your iPhone line.

I hope that upgrading watches goes more smoothly. I am waiting for a Galaxy Watch 6 Classic (LTE) to replace my 4 Classic (LTE). However, recently (on my 4 classic) I have not been getting SMS to my watch when on LTE and it won't let me use my phone number to text out. I have to use my watch number. This worked well on Sprint (text from phone number while on LTE). I get data and other messages, just not SMS. Hassle. Hopefully the 6 cures all LTE evils.

Maybe they wanted to wait until they shut off the Sprint SIM's before migrating more Sprint customers over to T-Mobile Billing?

All of our lines are on Sprint Max and we haven't received an invitation to move over yet.

So we were finally kicked over to T-mobile billing as I think everyone has by now? There was no invitation. The Sprint site just doesn't work anymore.

Anyone else have account issues with primary lines?? They assigned the account to one of my child's watches, lol. Thankfully the T-mobile CSR were very good and got everything rectified.

We're on the Sprint Max plan and the CSR was touting the Go5Gplus plan to us as having "actual premium data" instead of the "premium data" promised with the Sprint Max. Sprint Max tops out at 100 GB of shared data for all lines, then throttles after that. Go5G apparently doesn't throttle ever.

She also quoted that Sprint Max has 5 GB hotspot but Go5G would have 60 GB? The Sprint Max clearly says 40 GB hotspot.

Color me a little confused, but I think we're fine on the Sprint Max (which is $25 less a month for our 5 lines). (obviously different things like Hulu or Netflix, etc.)

Should I reconsider? am I missing anything?

  9. The one UI 5.1 update is available this morning. Says there's some camera updates and other garbage, but so far I can tell that the aggressive face unlock is finally fixed while charging at least for me. I know others may not have had this issue. It was incredibly frustrating

Not sure what is causing that issue for some users (and not me!), but made some adjustments and rolling out another beta update now.. if you receive additional errors on the new version, please submit diagnostics immediately following your login attempt. Thanks!

    Says login error [null] now

Hmm, that is odd, I cannot replicate that on my end. Should not be any restrictions on spaces or special characters in any of the fields. Could you each try again, and submit diagnostic reports immediately after so I can see if anything is being logged? Thanks!

    Just sent diagnostics

    Good morning,

I've just tried the update on my main phone and gotten a null pointer exception when I try to log in.  Not really sure what else to do, but here's relevant screenshots.

    https://imgur.com/a/NvEQiDG

And I checked and it does it regardless of whether the password is right or wrong.

EDIT:  I also tried removing the spaces from the device name (just "S21FE") and that didn't fix it.  Interestingly, I'm looking at the website and I do see multiple "sessions" in my list there.  So it looks like it may be logging in on the web site but then either failing to understand the acknowledgement on the app side since the next time I try it says I'm not logged in.

I was going there to try to remove the non-alphanumeric characters from my password, as I know Cell Mapper has a problem with those, but can't figure out how to do it through the website.

I see the same Null Pointer Exception error when I try to log in. Pw is correct, etc.

  13. Three observations thus far that are annoyances:

    1) seems like the bluetooth distance is reduced with this update. Getting more disconnected notices from my watch in locations I didn't before (e.g. phone in the kitchen, head out to the garage briefly).

    2) WiFi 6E connections are worse than before, and they weren't great to begin with.

    3) the face unlock is super aggressive. While driving, I have my phone in a charging dock on my dash, but I run wireless AA. Don't need the phone screen on, but it aggressively looks for my face and unlocks quickly. Screen will dim, go black, and immediately open again when it catches any part of my face. May have to disable the face unlock at this rate.

I have had no issues with SCP, however, many app notifications have been odd. Weird notification chimes, then the next time it'll go back to the right noise, etc.

I rebooted and cleared caches in the recovery menu, etc. as is standard after updates. I have found several apps I normally use have been quirky, but a data clearing of that app fixes most ills.

Overall, update is "fine" and phone is usable including Camera.

These are the plans/pricing currently being offered on Sprint: https://www.sprint.com/en/shop/plans/unlimited-cell-phone-plan.html

We were on Unlimited Freedom, but I switched our lines to Sprint Max for these new benefits/features: 4K Streaming, Gogo In-Flight Wi-Fi, International Roaming, etc.

Sounds like Customer Service was offering you the Sprint One Plan with SD Streaming and 5 GB Hotspot. Sprint Max offers add-on hotspot if you need more than what comes with it (40 GB). You can add-on to have 50GB (+$10/Month) or 100GB (+$35/Month) of Hotspot on a per-line basis.

We have T-Mobile SIM's in all of our devices, but our account hasn't been migrated to T-Mobile Billing yet. I'm sure that will happen soon.

If the Rep you get doesn't seem to know what's going on, end the chat and try again with someone else. Also, you can have the plan change be effective immediately. You don't have to wait until the monthly billing cycle date for it to start.

Okay, just pulled the trigger on the MAX plan for us as well. Worked out to be $12 more per month for us for the MAX but the feature adds are worth it. Over 5 lines and 3 watches, this is miniscule difference. the 40 GB hotspot is per line so said the rep I spoke with. Anyways, thanks for the help and clarity. First time I've changed plans in lord knows how long. Been with Sprint since 1998! lol.

Thanks, @Redspark! Unfortunately, I couldn't get a response from either Sprint customer service or T-Mobile this evening. Seems like I'll get at least passable data for navigation, and hopefully will be surprised with better. I thought Unlimited Freedom was a good plan, but things probably changed over the years. 😉

This might be the thing to get me to actually switch over to the T-mobile billing. I fly enough that this would be a great benefit to me. I haven't switched out yet because the plan they offered me was $40 less total (on like a $500 monthly bill) and had less streaming quality (something I use) and seemingly less hotspot data, but the woman couldn't answer my questions straightforward so I bailed. However, this might be worth me wasting several more hours dealing with CS drones.  Does anyone have a line to good CS? I've always just tweeted at the executive Sprint team, but is there a corollary at T-mobile?

Wasn't expecting this but I'll take it, seems to be really smooth compared to the last update.

yes, this finally feels "smooth" again with scrolling and app openings. Probably just jinxed it by saying it, but hey maybe they're finally making progress??
