Good to hear of your positive responses from another WI user.

I wonder why 5G is better using TNX..  are you on 5G SA frequently?

I'll admit, I'm not sure where I find the "stand alone" information? Is it when it's connected to 5G-NR and that's the only signal shown in SCP???

I notice that in the areas where I had "5G" with my Sprint SIM through B66 now has "5G-NR" as the only thing (or section) reported in SCP.  There's no LTE-AWS reported or any other type of signal.

If the closest site is a keep site, then TNX will readily use it. It's seen as native T-mobile (equivalent to 310-260 PLMN), and will be equal priority as any other T-mobile site. Basically keep sites are literally T-mobile native sites now.

Yes, I learned this by trial.....went TNX and I get all Sprint LTE bands just fine. My 5G NR is very fast, far faster than with my Sprint SIM. When on strong Sprint signal, I get Sprint bands. Very pleased with this S21 Ultra on TNX!

I bit the bullet and put the T-Mobile SIM card in my s21 ultra. I am connecting to Sprint b41 just fine.

So the TNX SIM had me connecting to B25, B26, B41 on Sprint just fine. Roamed on ATT, VZW, and my T-mobile NR 5G speeds were well over 100 mbps down, 25ish up. On these same 5G signals with Sprint SIM, the speeds were abysmal. Very happy thus far with my TNX plunge!

This S21 Ultra is pretty awesome and really not that much bigger than my S20+ in the hand, really. Clearly heavier, but really solid performance thus far.

I went in to see if I could switch to TNX.... Nope my business plan doesnt qualify... SO now I think I need to call and tell them to kick me back to sprint.. I continue to have issues...   Just last week, I looked in my VM (which hasnt been showing me NEW ones for some reason) and there was 1 from the 16th... I looked at my phone.. NO history... Looked online at my bill/usage and nothing there either..

How the hell can you run a  business if you dont get calls??  How many others are like this (not just me but businesses in general)?? you can never know unless they leave a VM.

The other problem (I tried before) you cant get to anyone who can actually make a decision/credit on your account for this screw up.

Floorguy, you are on Sprint SIM (ROMAHOME) and not getting calls?? I rarely get calls on my S20+ with Sprint SIM. Telemarketers get through just fine, but people on my plan usually go to VM or nothing like you said.

I'm feverishly trying to decide if I want to use the TNX SIM that is in the box with our new S21 phones. I too live very near a Sprint tower that I believe is a keep site, but the nearest TMO tower is quite some distance away...so the interim might be rough.

Yeah, mine came with a Sprint sim installed.  No other sim included.

Spoke to my friend at T-Mobile about the TNX SIMs.... apparently TNX is targeted. It's based on your top 20 pinged towers over a month. If TMO, you get the TNX SIMs. It doesn't really matter for 5G devices though, all of our devices are automatically put on to TMO and roam on Sprint. So if you don't get one in your box, the former applies to you, you ping more Sprint towers. But getting the TNX won't necessarily degrade your network experience, however there's no going back to Romahome after your number goes to TNX. (According to him)

I think that if they don't send you one, then I wouldn't seek one out. My wife's phone does have the TNX SIM in the box, so I'll just install it on hers. She'll complain soon enough if it sucks, then I'll know not to do mine ;)

My wife's S21+ arrived today.  There is a T-Mobile SIM in the shipping box, loose, but the phone says Sprint Kit, so I think the Sprint SIM is inside the phone.  Not sure yet as I will let her cut the seal.

Her S9+ falls back to Sprint 1x in her school, so I think Sprint SIM will be the way to go... for now.  I don't think T-Mobile works very well in her school due to no towers being nearby.

I'm really on the fence about putting in the TNX sim too. My area has better Sprint coverage, though I usually am on B66 from T mobile. Maybe I'll activate with the Sprint SIM at first and see how it goes.

Can we switch back to the Sprint SIM if we use the TNX SIM?? I am very unfamiliar with SIMs and whatnot.

So that was NOT a sim card.  It was just a piece if paper showing me how to move the sim from my current phone to the new phone.

Guh, so Sprint SIM comes in the phone and we still have to go to a lousy T-mobile store to get the TNX SIM???

My sister just upgraded an iphone and it was the same deal there, Sprint SIM in phone, no TNX SIM in package.

My delivery is today UPS just notified me.

Ordered the S21 Ultra 512GB and S21 plus 128GB. Ultra says shipping 2/2-2/17? You guys see the same?

Excited for the camera revamp and laser autofocus on the S21 Ultra. Very glad I held out on the S20 Ultra last year. Also hopeful that they actually ring when people call me. Lol, The New T-Mobile.

Aaand, now I have shipping notification for both phones. Sweet.

    So question???

My phone lately has developed the problem of people cant hear me when they call.. or when I call them.. I can hear them either time, but no voice from me.. Takes a restart of the device to fix, and I haven't tracked a time or thing that causes this..

    So the question..

Is this network related or device..

    What do you think??

I don't have the "hearing me" problem, but I bet it's network related..... I just rarely get calls and texts when people call me or text me. Telemarketers seem to always get through but never the important calls. The New T-mobile sucks just as hard as the Old Sprint.

Absolutely correct and that is the reason I myself am on TNX even though there is no usable TMobile signal right at my house whereas Sprint has a great signal there.

I expect rapid improvement as they shift resources to the TMobile side.

Right, my area was far better for Sprint than T-mobile, but now when I'm connected to a Sprint tower, the LTE is unusable. So they're in the process of conversion here, I'm guessing. Might as well bite the bullet now. Thank you for the help!

If you go to TNX, roaming will be only whatever arrangements TMobile has for roaming, no longer Sprint roaming arrangements.  Usually Sprint roaming arrangement are better but I myself do not know about that specific area.  Others may.

You could try one phone only on TNX at first if you want to try bbn it.

But the future is just the TNX, right? As Sprint towers are sunset and converted? So we'll have to do this eventually.

It is TNA (aka ROAMAHOME) which keeps you exclusively on T Mobile unless there is NO TMobile signal whatsoever. (which is rare).

TNX (a TMobile sim) can be even worse because it keeps you exclusively on T Mobile EVEN WHEN there is no TMobile signal whatsoever (with the possible exceptions of areas where there are unified PLMN's).

So in my opinion what you want for now is to get TNA REMOVED (and barred from coming back automatically)!  I suggest call and ask for it!

I'm trying to understand this TNX deal as I got the email saying we should get new SIMs. We have Sprint phones and Sprint SIMs right now and are part of the ROAMAHOME as I understand it. Should we get the new SIMs? When I travel outside of Madison, WI I tend to roam quite a bit, some on USCC, will that not happen?

Mine isn't back but I'm on TNX. On my line. Couldn't even update the profile.

What's the TNX thing? I got an email saying that we need to get new SIMs for our phones (Sprint phones with Sprint SIMs). Should we do this?? First I'm hearing of us needing new SIMs.

EDIT: I figured this out on another thread and ordered the TNX SIMs.

Got the release version of Android 11 a day or two ago. Two updates back to back. Just confirmed that B41 CA is there.

Sorry, can't remember are you Sprint, T-mobile, or unlocked? Were you on the beta?

  16. My S20+ (Sprint version) has been toggling back to Sprint B41 lately around my house, which is typically a good thing as the B41 gave speeds near or at 100 down compared to the 2 down with "5G" on T-mobile.....however, now the B41 is useless and it needs to snap back over to "5G" to do anything.

I wonder if these means tower conversion is happening?? I know that the Milwaukee market got the mid-band 5G switch thrown, perhaps Madison, WI area will soon too? They usually are the same market, but Milwaukee was in the last T-mobile presser but not Madison. I sure hope so, it would make a world of difference here in Madison. I do not, however, see any new equipment on the tower or work being done. Is it possible to be just software related without hardware changes?
