  1. Have you guys been seeing the network (either 5G or LTE) being displayed even when on WiFi? I haven't been able to narrow it down to a specific app and it's not from a weak WiFi signal or the wifi switching setting. Not sure if it's adversely affecting anything. So I have currently my WiFi symbol, the WiFi-calling icon, and "5G",  the signal bars and battery icon. Started for me after the last update that fixed GPS.

Not sure how more of yous guys aren't having GPS problems, my wife's phone finally updated and immediately started to fail and her dot was wandering around on Google Maps...... but as an update, I heard from Samsung. They know about the GPS dropouts and failed locks. It's almost isolated only on T-mobile's software build. It's an issue with Qualcomm's 5G chip and the GPS component. It will be fixed in ~2 weeks in the next update.

I hope your data issues are fixed on the next update too. I always have these kinds of issues with my data dropping out or locking on to a shitty signal. It's just the cost of doing business with The New T-mobile I've learned. Going back in time 6 years when Sprint's network was unusable.

Updating rolling out now. 5% get it today, more tomorrow and Sunday.

Something still isn't great with my GPS. It's locking most of the time, but often if I access Maps directions by just using the Assistant like "hey google navigate home" it'll lose signal lock and freeze up. Most other times, it's completely fine. It's very strange. I haven't tried it running this week because it's too dark in the AM and it's been raining, so I've been relegated to the treadmill and my stories. The Boys season 2 is quite good and darker than the first.

A very nice thing that I can report is that The New T-Mobile has flip flopped on the LTE and "5G" speeds around me. Before the "5G" (automatic setting in Connections) was nearly unusable with dl speeds in the 1 mb/s range and upload failed....whereas the LTE was 5-10 down and 2 up.....I'm now seeing 10-20 on the "5G" signal and nearly unusable on LTE/CDMA only settings. So that's something, I guess.

We are not actually getting 5G NR though, just B66 LTE. It's just nice to have the opportunity to get a real 5G signal now if I come across one.

Been solid here, luck of the draw I guess. Factory reset?

Having issues with GPS on my runs now, it'll track me for a bit, then lose me, pick me up, lose me, etc. Tested with GPS Test and Fix, found out I'm not really getting a solid GPS lock. Finally bit the bullet and did a factory reset and still can't get a solid lock. What do you get when you run GPS Test and Fix? I know geographically we're all in different areas seeing different satellites. I feel like I'm using the Galaxy S2 all over again.

I've used this phone for runs all summer long, nearly every day, and never had an issue until the August 29th update. Now it's like clockwork, lost GPS signal.

Edit: seems like this is an issue everyone is having after the update checking Samsung Members and Reddit.

First you need to find out if there are any N41 antenna on a tmobile tower in your area. They (at least here) will test when they are putting the equipment up. Sometimes the test is 20 mins and sometimes 2-3 hours. This is for N71 btw. It usually goes back offline for 3-6 weeks. The earfcn sometimes will change too so it can make room for N41. I have not seen that yet as this is the first N41 antenna in the marion county FL.

But you'd have to assume that T-mobile would be using _some_ of the Sprint towers? In Madison, T-mobile is terrible for signal and if they integrated a few of Sprint's towers, they'd blanket this city very well. I know of a few T-mobile tower locations that I can check on my drive to and from work. (I am keeping up with the thread loosely on the merger)

Edit: we have the faux "5G" indicator on B66 LTE here in Madison, so the tower is at least broadcasting the 5G for the signal icon, but no actual NR connections that I've seen.

I will they should be testing it at least.

How will we know if they're testing it? Will B41 go off line for Sprint LTE?? Do they need more/new equipment on the Sprint towers? (feel free to point me to any article explaining this)

I have to keep my phone in LTE/CDMA only mode (no 5G) to get any decent signal, but if/when they start testing 5G off Sprint towers I'm not really going to know in this mode. right? I fear Madison will be the last market to get any improvements anytime soon.

My s20+ just started showing sprint|sprint at the top left.  Anybody have that issue.  No problems, but it's really not what I want to show on my screen all the time.

Is yours still working well? I've been through 2 of these, tried in different vehicles, used different cables, and both will charge either of my phones about 10% then stop. They also make a very high pitched whining noise when plugged in and charging.

Huh, weird. Mine still work just fine. Sorry to hear about yours.

I specifically mention this was due to my personal experience. Just to state that before I continue. I experienced that because I enabled Wi-Fi calling while connected to Sprint as the secondary Roaming Network and it disconnected and did not reconnect when moving back over to Wi-Fi to Sprint data. Which at some point prevented my device from reconnecting when trying to establish data and voice afterwards.

So in case someone attempted what I did at some point, data transmission would not occur  and would leave the network status bar grayed and x'ed out .

It's just to clear the profile and refresh the system so it does connect. Which is why I made big deal in post in regard to messing with the Wi-Fi calling settings.

In regards to the CA profiles. They're deactivated with the update at least for me. I was only getting 1 carrier performance when connected to band 41. I enabled CA profiles for band 41 in the service menu screen. I would say use basic knowledge of what bands, Sprint uses for Carrier aggregation. And if you mess up you always can reset.

I'm not super technical I just read, and pieced it together so I can only give you my success and failures.

Okay, yes, that's great. Just thought I was missing something. We're all good. And thank you!

Wrote this post on reddit see if it helps

I'm not sure I follow the toggling roaming situation?? None of my roaming has changed and nothing needed to be toggled?

Also, you said "enabled CA profiles" as in just checked them all??

BUT I went back to the Band Selection App and set the priorities back for B41, B25, B26, rebooted, RCS seems to be working now thankfully. The Roaming status is still "not roaming" in SIM card status in settings. I did go into the ##3282# menu and enabled the LTE Roaming, which was the only thing that was "off". Band selection seems to stick fine after reboots, so I'll keep with this for a while and see what's up. Then I'll have to do all this on my wife's phone....yikes. But she'll be pissed if she tries to use her phone outside home, fortunately that hasn't been the case for her. Friggin' nightmare at a time when I (and probably many of us) don't particularly need something else like this to have to deal with.

    So, several updates:

    1) Called Sprint.  It looks like the Airave is now a paper weight.  Sprint has enabled the Tmobile bands.  They are now the primary ones and the old Sprint bands like 41 (Airave) and 25 (macro cell) are secondary. However, fwiw, the Tmobile towers identify to Sprint phone as native Sprint - not as roaming.

    2) Outside the home, TMobile signal is decent.  Let's me stream music on my morning walks.  Inside the house, I'm on WiFi calling.

    3) MMS seems like a loser over WiFi or WiFi calling.  Tried it with Textra.  They haven't supported MMS over WiFi for several Android releases now.  Tried it and it doesn't work, nor does Pulse nor Samsung Messages nor Android Messages. Guess RCS would work, but most of my friends are on iPhone. Even my daughter, who has a Note 9, is using Pulse, so RCS is a no-go.

    4) Played around a little with Samsung Band Selection app.  Interesting app, but not consistent results.

    5) Did go to Developer Options (had been previously enabled) and Mobile Data Always Active is turned off.

So they (Sprint) can't turn your phone back to priority for Sprint bands? Over on reddit they were saying that it was a line-by-line activation and that it could be reversed by calling tech support. I'm debating trying that, but thought others might find out first if that works without me wasting tons of time on the phone.

My phone is pretty worthless outside WiFi now on the B66....it's new trick has been to latch on to the B4^2 signal, which has a little higher RSRP value but it is just as slow as B66 (1-3 Mbps down, failed uploads).

I've tested the Samsung Band Selection app switching over to B41, B25, B26, but then I lose my RCS in Google Messages app. Consistent loss on testing flipping back and forth. I also went into the ##data# edit menu for the band priority and B66 isn't even listed in there. The phone is still listening to B25 priority 1, B26 priority 2, and B41 priority 3, then down on the list, but again, no B66 listed at all.

This seems to be truly a cluster F of the highest order reading the comments on Reddit as well.

So I did this with the Band Selection app and my phone's on B41, and status is "not roaming", so 🤷‍♂️. Cell mapper data for T-mobile towers is not great for Madison. I'll monitor any adverse effects. I selected B41, B25, and B26.

On the flip side, I did get like 6 phone calls today on B66 which at least 4 of those would have went to voicemail directly on Sprint's network. So I guess I have to pick data or phone calls?

RCS seems to not like this setup at all. Says "connecting......." in chat settings in Google Messages. Sucks!

I used the Samsung Band Selection app. Just make sure roaming is turned on or you won't get a connection to a Sprint band.

Now if we get charged for roaming, I can't say, I don't wanna assume anything at this point.

I was able to force my phone to stay on B41. Looks like the Sprint bands are coded as native "roaming". The speeds are night and day, I am able to get close to 200Mbps on B41 compared to 15Mbps on Band 66.

    How? did you disable B66?

  16. Had to run into work early this morning and ran some SCP and Speedtests along the way. Highest I was able to pull anywhere in Madison was 12 Mbps down 10 Mbps up nearer to downtown Madison, but MOST of it was in the 1-3 Mbps range. All stuck on B66 AWS LTE with 5 + 5 CA reported. This performance is abysmal. I was hoping that it was just my local area/tower that was weak. At least off B41 on Sprint I was getting 90+ in most all locations, but even in the slowest areas it would be 5-10. I also assumed that the tower across the street (maybe 400 yards) from me was a stack of Verizon, T-mobile, and Sprint equipment, but it's showing the T-mobile signal coming from a lot further away. My B66 RSRP is steady here at home around -113 to -122 dBm. My B41 was in the -60 dBm range.

Overall this is very displeasing. In a situation like I had here last Friday when the morons doing road work cut the cable lines and my whole neighborhood lost WiFi, I was at least able to keep working tethering to my Sprint hotspot from my phone. That won't work at all with this shit B66 signal. I always thought that everyone (ATT, VZW, Tmob, USCC) MUST be better than Sprint around here.....careful what you wish for I guess.
