what is his city/state? are you sure he's in a compatible location?

He's in the northern reaches of Florissant, MO (north of St. Louis). His location was approved before the box was sent, or at least that's the conversation I had with the tech that called me. Just on the edge of a B41 signal in side the house (as I said) but pick up 3+ bars B41 outside. Mainly parked on B25 there usually.

  2. Hey guys, jumping back in on this thread, maybe you have help for my dad. He got a MB (gen 2, I think?) a couple months back, but I haven't had a chance to make it down there to help him install it. We tried to do it over the phone (me helping him) but we were unable to find a location in the house that got past the "acquiring signal" screen. Described as a Sprint screen with status bars that never moved from "the second one" my dad said. I requested a picture of what it was doing, but alas one was not sent. :)

Anyways, we tried 4 or 5 different locations in the house that were "nearest" the towers broadcasting B41. After attempts, he was factory resetting the box from the software menu so we could get a fresh try.

Can someone direct me to some tips in this thread or copy/paste them here for getting a connection??  I scrolled around for a bit and never landed on anything solid.

He SHOULD have B41 in the upper floors of his home, at least I got it with my then S8+ when we stayed there. Not sure why this sucker isn't connecting.

Thanks for any help in advance.

Reviews says it's not worth the upgrade, I call bs it's a huge difference in performance in every aspect.

Well, reviewers usually don't live with these devices as their daily drivers. So they likely don't run into the quirks that we might run into over the course of a year with the old device. You are welcome to call BS, but I think you'd be pretty surprised as I was. Even with a freshly built S8+ like I had in the weeks prior to my switch, it was far slower than this S9+....and it should be, I sure hope. If anything I'd get it for the finger print scanner location. :)

Yes but the S8 is still a great phone.

One week in with the S9+ and this thing blows the S8+ away in speed and the camera. My gawd, the camera has really improved. Sharpness of photos is far, far, far better. Hyperlapse is a clever camera mode I find myself using it with the kids pretty frequently. Zoom actually ends up with sharp photos too.

I also have S 9 +. Did you try the low-light pictures yet?

Low light photos are better than the S8+ for sure. Still way over processed, but that's how Samsung rolls. I get less blur with the kids running around too. Have yet to try the super slow mo...it requires a TON of light to work well.

Looks like a new update this morning. Weighs in at 203 MB. Ends in RC5.

Hopefully this will fix the double sound notifications.

*Edit: This does update the security patch to March 1st.

    Downloading now! Thanks.

I had to factory reset and rebuild from scratch last night. My phone was shutting off every minute or so. Soft reboot wasn't working, had to plug it in to reboot it. Ridiculous but seems to be better after rebuild.

  7. I'm getting a lot of double notification sounds. Like an email comes in and I'll get 2 dings, or a tweet notification and I'll get 2 chirps for that. But FB messages are just doing one notification noise. So perhaps app incompatibility with 8.0 versus phone issue?

Otherwise, I think this update is "fine". I don't see much that is improved here, but nothing super broken like the betas.

My phone is no longer showing CA since the update. Any idea why?

Mine wasn't last night, but it showed up today oddly enough. Maybe coincidence in tower issues? I didn't change anything on my phone.

True, so what gives then?  I click on the upgrade now and it shows I can turn in my S8 for $0.00.

Also, are you opening a new line? The $18 a month price is only for new lines as best I can tell. $33 or $38/month (S9+) is what I see.

I too see the upgrade now, but when you start clicking through I see that I have to pay off the rest of my payments until 18 months (it doesn't stop at 12 for this). However, the banner during the upgrade process clearly states that with Galaxy Forever you can upgrade to the newest Galaxy after 12 payments.

  10. Galaxy Forever, got the same deal through email and even got a notification to pre-order and upgrade through the MySprint app.  Trading in my S8 for the S9+.
I was told 12 payments for Galaxy Forever? Explicitly chatted with 2 different CSR. So none of us would qualify yet since this one is early.

  11. I've had nothing but blocks this past weekend. So frustrating as I would like to participate in threads, but can NOT get through. The Sprint network was also throwing me errors, which is the first time this has happened.

I also want to report that I was trying to post on the Madison/Milwaukee Premier sheet thread (when it would load and not get Cloud Flare blocked), for which I have access, but it kept denying me. I'd type it all up, attach my photos, click send and it would give me the toast message that I am not allowed to post, "contact your admin if you continue to have issues".

Incredibly frustrating that I have to wait until I get to work to even post anything on this site. OR if I get lucky and get through at home, it'll still give me that message about failed posts. Because my home WiFi is burned too by the Cloud Flare.

I know the issues lie outside our hands and we're all frustrated with it.

If they have UPS My Choice (or maybe even if they don't...) you can tell them to hold it at a location for free and pick it up. That's what I do when I have packages come while out of town. They'll hold for 5 business days.

Yes, this is what I would do, but explaining that to them would be a lot of my wasted time, ha ha. Neighbor is apparently watching for packages, so they'll be good :)

Did you get any confirmation that yours is coming? Or any other indication that you actually have a MB coming?

I received the same email, and I clicked the link but I've not gotten any indication that a MB is actually on the way. Nothing in my orders on my sprint account and nothing on my account showing a MB with a phone number.

KInda weird that it's seemed so simple, click that link and it says  MB is on the way, however it almost seems too simple and now it's been a few days with nothing showing, no more emails/calls/orders.

So I haven't seen anything yet as far as emails, but in my devices lists on my Sprint account I now have a "Sprint Magic Box 2" listed below all my phones. This though is going to my parents house in St. Louis and they just left for Florida for a week....so.....not sure when it'll arrive or who's grabbing their packages, etc.

May want a screen protector.  The screen on that and the Motorola are very easy to scratch because they are plastic.

I just ordered an S8 Active on eBay, $430.

So, no case needed for the S8 Active?  Are the S8's on Android 8 yet?

I got a slim bumper case for my folks' phones because the edges are the same metal and will definitely scratch on a drop on concrete.

Have you tried joining the beta program? Are they on 8 yet?

Could be a drawback for me -- I am currently on 8.1 regular release with my Pixel. Just no Calling Plus or WiFi Calling on Sprint.

This might be a reason to go with the Z2Force.  Still haven't made the purchase.  Won't be before Friday evening.

Beta Programme is closed, closed, closed.

It'll be out soon enough, we're talking days to week(s), not months. Seems silly to jump to a worse phone just for Oreo.

  16. Got this email the other day after requesting one for my dad's location in the summer sometime. Pretty slick email, click the "Send it my way" button, and the confirmation page just says "The Magic Box is on the way". I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't some complicated log-in to website, then re-navigate back to where the MB information might be, etc. Simple....from Sprint....is this the future??

I would stick with the S8 that you want...I’m getting the S8 active this evening... I need durability lol

I got my parents both the S8 Actives. The battery is YUGE, it's perfect for them. Got them a nice slim case just for scratches and dings. Great phone. Enjoy it!
