  1. Sprint B41 Third Carrier CAx3-ready confirmed in the wild. This should result in 50% more B41 performance per B41 site as it is implemented and much faster speeds for the latest Samsung S7 and S7 Edge smartphones.
  2. I just wanted to see if the firmware had b41 third carrier in it. I guess it will require a Class II Permissive Change filing (or it is the way it is). Of course the S7 /S7 Edge does not have it showing in the debug screen at this time either.
  3. dial ##debug# and choose LTE (if possible.) Then take a picture of it. Thanks!!!
  4. Were you getting good signal. What RSSI or RSRP or signal bars. Perhaps the issue is backhaul.
  5. This appears to back some limited root metrics results. No wonder it is not on the coverage maps yet. Lets hope the continue to improve it.
  6. Helena now has Sensorly LTE tracks from this month. Map updated: http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/6296-sprint-to-expand-to-montana-using-shut-down-cellularone-sites/page-12&do=findComment&comment=472376
  7. I would love to seen a screenshot of the G5 LTE debug screen.
  8. Although I don't Marquette is in the Green Bay BEA, most of Cellcom is definitely around the northern Wisconsin Market. Thus this makes sense. Sent from my LGLS991 using Tapatalk
  9. Based solely on what is showing in root metrics of an unknown date, I would say Great Falls MT, Missoula MT, and Caspar WY are plausible. Likely any of these are just in testing or operating like a protection site (public not really allowed). We really need a knowledgeable member on the ground to really know (or a cooperative Sprint insider).
  10. https://www.dropbox.com/s/bpuuj8mvatev170/Sprint%20coverage%20map%20updated%20Jan%2010%202016.JPG?dl=0 This Sprint coverage map was last updated January 10, 2016. The area is covered by Cellcom under 3G & more. Let us know if you get LTE. Next time start your own thread. The Upper Peninsula of Michigan is a long ways from Montana. Maybe a moderator will do this for you. .
  11. The official FCC status of our various new locations remains as "Offlined for Expired License Review". Nothing new on the Sensorly side, however Root Metrics shows the following entries (date unknown): Caspar, WY lots of LTE entries, max speed 4.1/5 (down/up). Rapid City, SD lots of LTE entries, but minimal speed of 0.1/0.1 Sioux City, SD lots of LTE entries, 2.5/4.6 Brookings, SD lots of LTE entries, 2.3/1.0 Watertown, SD lots of LTE entries, 1.7/0.9 Aberdeen, SD some LTE entries, 2.2/1.4 Billings, MT 1.9/1.5 Great Falls, MT 4.4/1.7 Missoula, MT 3.6/1.2 Some others are also shown. We can not rule out carrier or LTE misidentification.
  12. I think it is very likely that CAx3 will become a reality - no site work should be required. It will require additional backhaul. It may not be universal but it should have significant impact. VoLTE will likely require greater density. This means Clearwire site conversions and small cells. Sprint has a great plan, even has approval from Softbank, but no money yet. Softbank seems to be inclined to spend money where Sprint has not expressed interest -- 600Mhz spectrum. This could just be posturing or it could show doubts about Sprint's next generation network plan, hence delay of Volte implementation. I agree that many customers will not notice. Look at Apple without B41 for a long time. Yet LG also has the heritage of the G2 -- one of the first working B41 LTE phones (ahead of the Nexus and others.) A shame to lose this reputation. Reduced spend on high phones may leave them no choice. Yet consumers need to know about the lack of CAx3, and given the reputation of the G2, will assume that it has it. The tech press, dependent on advertising dollars, will likely say nothing. Thus it falls to places like S4GRU. I did contact LG before these posts and they would not admit or deny the lack of CAx3.
  13. Possible LG advertisement on having two of the three B41 carriers ( not - from Mars Attacks):
  14. Flagship phones should support flagship network features.
  15. No CAx3. So disappointing. LG can no longer run with the big dogs. Reduced to staying on the porch. Samsung can prevent rooting with no LG competition on its S7/S7 Edge. Without CAx3, the LG G5 will likely be a launch failure unless the VoLTE is actually implemented soon.

  17. It is not current. The Sensorly shown could be real or not. We have seen where sites can be tested years in advance. It is also possible these sites are broadcasting, but the public is not allowed on for a multitude of reasons (further expansion planned, looking for local partner, lack of backhaul, marketing launch needed, site support, site contract dispute, etc). Sprint does have infrastructure in Alaska from Expedience and they have recently renewed microwave links. Sensorly will not allow corrections to be made, even if it was done on your phone. I once dragged b41 to my backyard from 20 miles away and they would not remove it.
  18. Demoted Bismark, ND and Alaska entries for not being current on Sensorly. If you live or travel in these areas, map your trip on Sensorly. Then make a post here. Better yet, use an app like Signal Check Pro (buggy) or LTE Discovery.
  19. It does appear that most markets roughly follow BEA boundaries. Cellcom likely has first rights for LTE in that area as it is on Sprint's 3G and more special coverage map on their website.
  20. Map of Sprint Possible LTE Areas in New Rural BEAs Based on Sprint FCC filings shown above in last two pages Blue Balloons = only on FCC Maps Green Balloons = On Sensorly (current) or Sprint Coverage Maps Yellow Balloons = Area LTE unknown to S4GRU, not new BEA LTE Forbidden = No filing found for this BEA Map for tapatalk users Total new BEAs license population: 3,264,703 Total new LTE covered population : 1,343,043 Total new LTE population % covered: 41.14%
  21. Map of Sprint Possible LTE Areas in Montana Based on Sprint FCC filings show above. Blue Balloons = only on FCC Maps Green Balloons = Also on Sensorly or Sprint Coverage Maps
  22. Wimax pruning and modification of the Clearwire microwave network has begun in a number of markets, according to FCC records.
  23. I do not believe that these sites need to be open to the public at this stage. Eventually, yes. background material: http://www.repository.law.indiana.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1376&context=fclj
