  1. It was tested and implemented only for LTE. Otherwise checking for EARFCN and channel changes is a rare occurrence. Sent from my LGLS991 using Tapatalk
  2. If we could get modem data on cdma channels in SCP that would be great (two big ifs). Then we could have a much better idea of what is actually happening. Sent from my LGLS991 using Tapatalk
  3. I believe it is more planned based on what we have seen in Columbus. 1) sites without B41 seem to have a higher likelihood, same with heavily used sites. 2) I believe they have basically setup two networks, a 5x5 and a 10x10, possible due to CDMA channel requirements of some older phones. Based on careful observations, when you start with a 5x5 network , it is inclined to keep you on 5x5, when you are on 10x10, it is inclined to keep you on 10x10. Given the number of 10x10 sites observed, Pittsburgh has likely had them for a while. This situation is likely temporary. Notices have been sent out on how to update PRLs on old phones by re-provisioning as well as reports of forced PRL and data profile updates. Analysis of the latest PRLs indicate changes in CDMA channels.
  4. Finding more 10x10 on western side Sent from my LGLS991 using Tapatalk
  5. Just like CA, the best aspect of 10x10 is better speeds at the edge. Sent from my LGLS991 using Tapatalk
  6. I am on the west side of Pittsburgh metro for a few days. Might have some time to look around for this. No b41 3rd channel observed so far. Sent from my LGLS991 using Tapatalk
  7. Yes, plus you have a number with 10x10 or b25 second carrier. It is really done a county by county basis. Obviously you want a sizable group of counties with enough contiguous bandwidth. Sent from my LGLS991 using Tapatalk
  8. 58978 is an invalid value. Documented here: http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/5454-network-vision-and-spark-earfcn-logging-thread/&do=findComment&comment=275929
  9. A Speed test or two will likely be shown after 3xCA arrives. Right now you would need before and after and control for many variables. Sent from my LGLS991 using Tapatalk
  10. Some times that indicates new service coming on line. Else check here: http://downdetector.com/status/sprint
  11. Sprint B41 3rd carrier has arrived at about 30 sites so far in Columbus. It will boost b41 throughput by up to 50% at these sites. Initially it is available to the original "spark" phones (G2, G3, etc). Carrier aggregation phones (G4, etc) continue to use the 1st and 2nd carrier at this time. Later it will support 3xCA on phones such as the Samsung S7 and HTC 10.
  12. You are correct. Just may not work in the areas outlined on map. Keep prl updated if possible. Sent from my LGLS991 using Tapatalk
  13. In 7 months there will be a new administration. Of course confirmation of new FCC members and Department of Justice leadership will take time. New merger and acquisition opportunities will likely arise. There are also possibilities with refinancing Sprint debt that could substantially reduce interest expense, but these will need to be creative. Personal involvement of an iconic chairman of a conglomerate will likely open new doors of opportunity.
  14. http://www.wirelessweek.com/news/2016/06/softbank-coo-nikesh-arora-stepping-down-son-focuses-sprint Son said Arora “should be CEO of a global business,” but should not be kept waiting in line at Softbank while Son finishes up his legacy projects. “I had hoped to hand over the reins of SoftBank to (Arora) on my 60th birthday - but I feel my work is not done,” Son said in a statement. “I want to cement SoftBank 2.0, develop Sprint to its true potential and work on a few more crazy ideas. This will require me to be CEO for at least another five to ten years - this is not a time frame for me to keep Nikesh waiting for the top job.”
  15. http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2016-06-21/softbank-s-arora-steps-down-after-son-clinches-supercell-deal http://www.wirelessweek.com/news/2016/06/softbank-sells-stake-game-developer-supercell-tencent The question is what does this mean for Sprint?
  16. PRL and profile must be updated soon else your phone may not work in our market and a few others. This is being forced on some phones. Sent from my LGLS991 using Tapatalk
  17. With a mandatory PRL coming up by the end of July for a number of markets (presumably for better LTE refarming since these areas are seeing spectrum swaps), have you noticed any changes in channels being checked?

  19. The Sprint goal was to preserve licenses. The only immediate benefit was to reduce roaming costs, thus speeds around 3g might be viewed as acceptable. Like many of the Wimax protection sites, I don't expect this to appear on coverage maps. The only one of these rural areas that Sprint has publicly committed to is Montana, thus I would expect them to be more fully expanded first. This has to be placed into the context of Sprint's goal of becoming profitable this fiscal year. Besides decent backhaul, to truly serve an area you want overlapping sites - only one site was seen in Caspar on a drive through. The service from some of the Wimax protection sites was good. They were like an oasis in the desert. I would hope Sprint would at least rise to this level and make these moderately performing LTE sites. Then they could even put them on the coverage map. 20. Correct. If I remember correctly it was mapped on root metrics, which showed it had very weak throughput. I like to know when it was done. Sensorly does have bad data at times, root metrics does not give dates. Sent from my LGLS991 using Tapatalk
  21. Logs provided by ingenium show a Sprint B25 LTE three sector site in Caspar WY, 08497Cxx. Signal strength and coverage appear reasonable. No details on throughput.
  22. I believe you still can. You we need to have a knowledgable rep willing to do it. Sent from my LGLS991 using Tapatalk
