  1. I think I had my first ever HD call! It sounded so different and clear ....except Im in new jersey, and she is in California. I thought that wasnt possible? Also, galaxy s4 and iphone 5s
  2. Im not convinced. Looking at the sponsor map, theres only three towers in the entire downtown square Im looking at from West to Cedar, and from Jensen to Olive. The fact that Community Regional + City Hall have none nearby essentially dedicated to them is shocking. Id bet large sums of money that the pagers in use at Community dont run on Sprint... And service inside the convention center block is also bad.
  3. No, service downtown has always been poor. Not enough capacity for the daytime population, and not enough density to penetrate all the old buildings.
  4. Fresno The City Addicted To Crystal Meth (Louis Theroux Documentary) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UeouwaM7O1k
  5. Why did the BBC choose to make a documentary on the meth crisis in Fresno and not elsewhere then?
  6. From the troll article that was linked in the last page Thats factually untrue right? I do agree that the hamster ads are not good.
  7. Even easier, from the notification bar. In the same way I can toggle wifi on and off. That was the case for wimax phones I used.
  8. This is the wrong forum for this conversation...but lol Id wager more people leave the US for medical care than fly in. The people who fly in are coming for extremely specialized opertions. Why do those specialists exist here? They mostly work for universities....many of which are publically funded. And those private universities that have those world class doctors in their affiliated hospitals? Look at their budgets. Government grants made it possiible. You've picked a terrible example to make your point. Incidentally, you know who REALLY sucks at running a business? Go check out the AT&T deployment thread in the general forum. It reads like a prime example of being inefficient, slow and not cost effectivet. And yet theyre a private business operating in a free market.... Or try to call Comcast to cancel your service.
  9. I thought hed have LTE because the map shows the closest site as 4G accepted, but I guess its not broadcasting. He lives at the western edge of town, near Lexington. Yes, I had excellent underground coverage on the moving trains. It did alternate between native and roaming, but the roaming was still usable for what I was doing (just reading through a text forum)
  10. Went to visit ym dad this weekend in Winchester. Saddened to see that his house and the surrounding area have no 4G LTE. His house had WIMAX, so even though the terrain is hilly, and theres many trees, if WIMAX could propogate, LTE damn well should be able to. On the other hand, I was very surprised and very impressed that I was able to ride the T from JP to Alewfie (orange then red), and have an excellent voice and data signal the entire time. In days past, I would have to time my call while riding over the Charles to get picked up at Alewife. Now thats no longer an issue.
  11. 1st lower central valley update in something like 2 months. No LTE, but Fresno county sites are finally getting 3G NV
  12. Well this is interesting, the area near my moms house for voice and 3G went from Fair to "off network roaming" Im surprised at the honesty! Note: This wasnt necessarily part of this update, just within the past year.
  13. Nope. She tried three times, and I tried it. Spotty coverage, back door number, AND countless dropped calls. Because she was a single plan account, they refused. I worked at a Verizon call center in the past, so I used every trick I knew to get an agent to give in. All the key words they teach you in training and stuff. At the end I just gave up and esclataed 6 levels because I know you can. They even called back the next day, as promissed, to say no. Needless to say, she was going to leave Sprint when the contract ended. Only difference was she bailed now three months early because it was hurting her job. It's a shame Sprint cant look at the market and awknowledge they dun goofed. IMO, their reputation in Fresno is screwed for at least a decade. My mom went from a very happy customer to someone who will tell everyone she knows how much she dislikes Sprint. In her type of job, (and with how much she likes to share) thats a pretty damn big net. To be fair, Sprint is far from the only company that doesnt realize the damage a bad reputation can cause. But thats enough of this, no need to derail the thread.
  14. They insisted she pay $200 for an airave, even though after the antenna move service went to crap and half the house became roaming. She has wifi at home, the issue was missing work calls.
  15. She was paying either 70 or 80, with Sprint, cant remember. With Verizon, she will be paying 60. Further, for her minutes were more of an issue with data. Her plan was either 400 or 450 minutes to landlines. Her job meant she was brushing right up to that every month, went over by 4 minutes in March. Her new Verizon plan is unlimited Voice.
  16. Link isnt working for me, but I still think the local contractor is 100% to blame. No other carrier has had problems. Frsno City red tape has nothing to do with how slow its been in Clovis and the Countym including highway sites away from cities.
  17. Well, Clovis actually, although she works all around town. It happens all the time. If I call her I have to leave a voicemail because half the time its ringing but her phone isnt recieving the call. The other half the time the call sounds like its going through a sewage treatment plant. Its not just her phone, I had a lot of issues when I was there 2 weeks ago, including multiple failed texts. The reason she originally left AT&T 4 years ago was because of all the dropped calls. Sprint was fine for the first contract period, which is why she renewed, things just went to shit after that. I think part of it was because the cell tower closest to her house was relocated to the nextel tower. Even though the distance is the same, something is clearly wrong with the nextel equipment. She doesnt want TMobile because she goes to the mountains a lot, so Verizon is the only one left. However, I think its true for all the companies that none of them responded to the massive expansion in population the area had over the past decade. For example at the edges of the city, the Sprint tower layout was clearly set up around the land use of 2000 where it was all farms, rather than 1,000 family subdivisions every half mile.
