  1. It's too expensive. Google should have priced it lower than Samsung and Apples high end devices.

    Disappointed. You get more with the S7 and/or the iPhone 7.

    With the S7 you get,

    * Bigger Battery

    * Wireless Charging

    * SD Slot

    * Better financing options.

    * Water resistance

    All for less than what Google is asking for. The only thing that entices me with the new Pixel is being able to mod it (root/custom ROMs) but that doesn't justify the price point for me.

  2. In the tweet, note the "not seeing much of a difference." That could be because these MIMO and modulation enhancements may require such optimal signal quality as to make little difference in the grand scheme. The only network upgrades that practically are guaranteed to improve overall performance in all signal conditions are spectrum bandwidth and site density.

    Agreed. I'm noticing a large difference downtown Jax now, but it's likely due to them enabling CA overnight as well.

  3. You do realize that not even the #1 rated network is great everywhere, anytime. Location, location, location, and time, time, time. VZW, AT&T, and T-Mobile all have similar sore spots in all markets at times. You cannot generalize any reliable conclusions from that.

    That's why I specified just in Jacksonville. Even Terrell pointed out that the southern parts of Florida have seen some noticeable improvements.

  4. north florida is different. From the villages onwards even rural cities have b41. Jacksonville market is not getting much love this year. Hundreds of sites with b25/26 only. That's not changing til next year maybe.

    I've experienced B41 and it really is awesome. The issue is that it's like seeing a unicorn in Jacksonville. I'm not sure why Jacksonville is a low priority market. I am just guessing Sprint doesn't have a good market share here.
  5. The correct answer, of course, is the Nexus 5. It was the best Nexus. Groundbreaking, stylish, inexpensive, flagship caliber.

    It was one of the first triband sprint devices and it was one of the first devices with the snapdragon 800. Not to mention it was very affordable. The same storage options today are the standard for flagships in 2016... It's like Google hasn't advanced hardly at all since the 5.

  6. That's really odd. Head scratcher.

    T-Mobile has a TON of spectrum in Jacksonville, with 50 MHz of AWS-1 and 20 MHz of A block and 30 MHz of C block.

    This 10 MHz carrier is using up the full A block.

    In my mind it makes far more sense to deploy in the C block, even if just at 10 MHz, because you have the runway to get to 15 MHz wide.

    They could easily have 1c U2100, at least 1c U1900, 5 MHz of GSM, 20 MHz L2100, 15 MHz L1900, and 5 MHz L700.

    That's a conservative approach. Considering that they've been moving quickly to 1 UMTS carrier in lots of markets.

    Aren't they preparing to swap the C block with Sprint in the PCS swaps?

  7. So, I visited Orlando this past weekend for my brother's graduation and I must say Sprint was very congested almost the entire time I was there.  Even on B41, I couldn't get anything higher than 1mbps.  I'm sure some of it was due to the memorial day weekend and people all going to Disney/vacation, etc.  I think I connected to a second B41 carrier (as it appeared in signal check pro), but I wasn't able to confirm if CA was enabled or not on my N5x.  Sprint could use that 3rd carrier asap.

    So, in the last ~3 months or so, it looks like Sprint's been busy.  According to RootMetric's reports, Sprint's rated #2 in Orlando now.

  8. What are people's thoughts on the Tmobile One + plans?

    It's much better than the previous plan.  I'm not sure how to feel about the unlimited 3G tethering, or the 14GB high-speed tethering.  Both have their perks.  The international roaming is a much better offer though.  They require a 24hr pass to be manually activated every day for HD viewing, which isn't bad but is tedious for some customers.  But I think the tiered plans were better overall.  The differences in price ranges accommodated a lot of people's needs and a lot of people don't need/want to pay for unlimited data when they don't need to.

  9. Even though this device doesn't really let me modify it too much (lack of Root), I must say this device exceeds my expectations on a daily basis.  Strong radio, water-resistant, great screen (I can actually use it in direct sunlight!), battery life is good, etc.  I hope Samsung keeps this up and continues to focus on great battery life.  If I had to choose anything hardware-wise, I'd have preferred them go to USB-C port, but you can't have everything. :P

  10. How would this qualify as a warranty repair/replacement if it was caused by you dropping the phone?

    It should be covered under Uh Oh protection.  That's one of the devices main selling points.  Although I believe Uh Oh protection is only eligible for users that purchased it on HTC.com.
