So, there's actually quite a few markets where T-Mobile can utilize their new B71 spectrum now as the spectrum is vacant. For example, in Jax, FL C and D blocks of 600Mhz are now owned by T-Mobile and those channels are not in use (channel 40/41.) This means they have 10x10Mhz ready to deploy. They're expecting some sites to have B71 ready by the time devices hit the stores early next year.

I've been on Tmo for nearly two years now. I have a love/hate thing for Tmo. What I like, I really like. Where performance is great, I'm happy. But I can tell you they are not as great as Legere and the Fanboys paint.
I have more than a dozen sites in my market that are nearly unusable. And this is their home market. Performance has dropped drastically the past two years. Yet, they also keep adding sites and bands. So, the progress is nice to watch. And it's consistent. But it's slower than growth. And the number of problem sites is growing in the places I go.

I'm happy that they're not decreasing CapEx and that they've just dumped $7.9B on spectrum alone. That shows that T-Mobile is committed to the customer experience. The only real issue is that they're growing too fast.

He may be selling broken down blue-title'd Mitsubishis, but people are buying them. It's all about perception, not quality. Legere makes Lane Pratley of Lane Pratley Cadillac and Hyundai proud!
Well, if you say so. I've had much better network experience since switching to T-Mobile from Sprint and T-Mobile is actually investing in their network.

Sounds like Sprint tooting the B41 horn for the last 4-5 years...
I don't like TMobile's management, but they do deploy quickly. Way faster than Sprint has ever done.
Why don't you like T-Mobile's management? They like to reinvest in the company.

We'll see. TMobile has a good history when it comes to vacating bands (see B12 deployment.) They must already be in the process of vacating some of the spectrum for use by eoy 2017.TMo wants to deploy some EoY? That's not up to them, it's up to the broadcasters.

Depends on how quickly they clear it. Some will take a few months while other will take years.

In the Newsroom post, they say they should clear 10mhz of it this year and later this year B71-capable devices will hit the shelves.
-
That line is interesting to me. They are going to be able to utilize this spectrum by EoY?
-
It's funny haven't seen it till recently... But when I searched looked like it was done a few years ago... Wonder why I just see it now?

They're actively taking PCS (1900) spectrum from HSPA and refarming it into LTE. Good for additional bandwidth. Jacksonville FL has 20x20 B4, 10x10 B2, and 5x5 B12 on LTE and can all be aggregated.

Sprint's spectrum argument keeps eroding. If they could have gotten the spectrum on air sooner sprint might have been able to fill "the fastest" network niche.

Same with US Cellular. The longer they wait to hold, the less the company's worth. Carriers are building over US Cellular's footprint and once that fully happens, I don't think they'll be able to compete and they'll have to sell off for cheap.

Anyone know a cheap Sprint prepaid service to use for just general testing? I have a Nexus 5x sitting around that I'd like to use.
-
That's all they can boast about. It'll be an issue when Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile start using the unlicensed bands for capacity. So, how much longer can sprint claim spectrum advantage .. when the government is freeing up higher spectrum for all other carrier to register for

I worked at a mobile retail store for a bit. I was the only one that actually knew how mobile networks work. Everyone else just knew what to say (offer accessories, always.) I've been in enough to know that cramming is pretty much a standard. What's that old saying? Walk a mile in their shoes...
I'd wager that 99.9% of the people on this thread have never worked in wireless retail and really have no idea what it takes to do so.

Sprint coverage map updated today. I'm seeing a significant boost in LTE plus signal on the map. Anyone able to confirm if there's a large amount of B41 added?

Sprint has a promo for free lines now... Only limit is you need to not be an existing Sprint customer. [emoji12]

My only complaint is the stand by usage on this device. 4% an hour or so when idle. None of my other devices have this issue. Sounds like Nougat may finally fix that! ThanksStandby is generally better. Can't say I've noticed much difference in my actual usage though.

Thanks for sharing. Is battery much better on nougat?I've been running it on my S7. Most things work really well. Notifications and quick replies are the biggest improvements. As I reported earlier it also fixed my SMS over wifi calling issues. Other stuff is minor but still mostly good. The launcher and overall system UI seems smoother, split screen is implemented slightly differently etc..
There are a few bugs ive come across in the settings menus, and related to updating apps and themes. I also get a reoccurring app crash about once a day from Amazon photos for some reason. Overall it's very stable and smooth for a beta.

Anyone using the nougat beta? I missed registration but curious to see how others are experiencing it.

But in this scenario, it is testing the stadiums during a major game. What Paynefanbro says, and speedtests say nothing about coverage. It just tells you a group of people with really good data or bad data. It doesn't tell you when those same people have NO data. That's why I believe rootmetrics more.
-
Wouldn't that average out the results? If anything, it shows that the carrier is doing much better than anticipated if users are using a lot of bandwidth testing their speeds. There's nothing biased about it.That's why I never care for Okla. You can have a lot of users from one carrier to use your app and it turns out that network performance is better than the rest. It's the definition of a bias study, whether they want it or not.

It's congestion. Something Sprint has had an issue with in Jax for awhile now. Hopefully they'll roll out more B41 but it isn't looking hopeful in the short term.Hi all, been a while since Ive posted.
Anyone have a clue as to why the speeds are horrid here off of Riverside Avenue near the Fuller Warren Bridge in Jacksonville?

B12 live in some areas of Jax now. Another user in Orange Park and Mandarin are claiming they're getting B12 too.

I had that happen with my G4. When I turned it on it would just keep restarting it self

I've experienced it first hand on my Nexus 5X. Luckily Google's customer support is excellent and they replaced it with a new model, but it's only a matter of time before this one goes bad too. It sounds like Danlodish345 holds onto the same device for a few years so it's best to future proof him.

Hmmm I was thinking the LG v20 or htc m10
Sent from my SM-G930U using Tapatalk
Of those two, I'd go with HTC. LG has had issues with bootlooping devices lately (G3, G4, G5, and LG V10 as well as Nexus 5X.) You can read up on all of them with a quick Google. HTC's expensive but a great device.

WCS is band 30 for ATT which as been in deployment for quite a while.
Thanks for the clarification. That explains it then. A lot of ATT phones support B30.

I know I posted this in the T-Mobile specific thread, but Jacksonville FL is ready to go with B71 on it's 10x10 block. Expecting to see this live around the S9 release next year.
