The areas of Disney that do have 4G are much improved, so hopefully when the whole area is blanketed things will be good.

My last visit was opening day of Star Wars Weekends, so I would imagine that capacity was taxed.

The Hyperspace Hoopla will do that!

Most of Daytona Beach & South Daytona and parts of Ormond and Port Orange have LTE now that are getting anywhere from 4-10mbps down & 1-4mbps up. If I had to guess I would say that the rest of Port Orange & any part of New Smyrna Beach won't see LTE for at least 3-4 months. I think it has more to do with getting fiber to the cell sites then getting the LTE pannels installed.

I am getting a fairly consistent 4g beachside Daytona at my house, but my office is in south Port Orange (along US1) and the data connection is almost non-existent even in 3g. Voice signal is around 1 bar, and often goes to "roaming" outside. Inside the office the phone is a paperweight. I have to recharge 3 times during the day. 3-4 months is a LONG time!!

I also frequent the Disney Parks. I consistently find the towers overloaded for data. I have a good signal (varies between 4g and 3g) but the data just doesn't flow.

It's a little frustrating, and at times I regret I had to leave Verizon. Then I remember the $100 a month I'm saving and figure I can wait it out.

  3. So my eHRPD signal has dropped into the -110 to -115 range and there's a huge 1XRTT dead spot in Ocoee where there used to be ok-ish eHRPD. Hopefully this means actual tower work is being done and isn't some sort of issue.

That happened before sensorly started showing LTE blips on the map in my area.

  4. I frequent there near the fall months most the time. Its nice the progress is being made

Agreed, sadly the Celebration area is still left wanting though its probably about 5-10% better than it was before.

I'm working in the Hunter's Creek area in Kissimmee and have to say, I'm finding the 3G speeds here to be quite alright. A nice change of pace for sure.

would this happen to be near the turnpike?

I remember sitting out a crash clean, further down around yeehaw junction, at the canoe creek service plaza in January. Picked up 4G on my LG viper for a split sec then back to 3G but it was definitely instant loading of any website I threw at the network. Even before, like September 2012, the area would consistently do 1.7-2.3 down always. That was my first time seeing sprint get anywhere near those speeds.

Of course that's the whole 100+ mile section south of Kissimmee to Fort Pierce I'm talking about

Nearish to there. I'm at the loop now and seeing similar performance.

  6. It might also depend on your signal strength, I know when it reads as -115 or less I get no data whatsoever out of LTE (at least with the existing LTE towers in the Orlando market, so YMMV)

Instead, I find sometimes that my phone will mysteriously drop LTE and switch back to eHRPD even though I haven't moved and LTE is still available (confirmed by toggling airplane mode).

  7. Orlando Metro (Arena Area) turns decent 3G in the 2 down range, albeit at 3 am in the morning. As of late though, I've managed a respectable 0.75 down during rush hour. Maybe I've just always ran test during either off peak or lucky days. I can definitely relate to the airport being an oddball in the signal department though.

I used to get great WiMAX speeds in the Downtown area back when I had a GS2, so it seems like perhaps they had already made some upgrades to towers there since I often found the data to be usable, even if it wasn't all that impressive.

  8. I'm in Orlando at Disney World. First off, when I got off the plane, all I got was roaming! Was surprised at that. Got LTE outside of the airport however, but that didn't last long. Driving down I-4 to Disney, all I got was 3G and it was super slow! No eHRPD either anywhere in Orlando, it's all EvDo-Rev. A

I'll have to say, that Orlando is awful for Sprint right now. Probably the worst I've ever experienced. I'm at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge and I mainly get Roaming, with maybe one bar of Sprint from time to time. Very disappointed in this market.

**A side note, I did pick up 1x 800 MHz on the plane flying down. Took a screenshot of the SignalCheck screen and it was Band Class 10 with an SID of 22429.

Orlando definitely has some bad spots, but it's really the touristy, non-LTE areas where the network suffers the most (in general).  I used to work behind the Animal Kingdom for years and can tell you that at best 3G was hit and miss and at worst was not bothering, particularly when the parks are busy as they are now.

That said, Orlando's biggest issue in my opinion is inconsistency at this point. There are days where I can get almost good speeds on 3G and other days where it seems like every single user is trying to stream all at the same time. I do think things will turn around eventually, but we're still very spotty with our LTE coverage and not too many towers have the new fancy 3G.

I get to excited to have LTE nearly everywhere when I'm on a business trip in ATL that I almost end up finding excuses to use my data to make up for all the avoiding using my data I do here in Orlando.

What kind of LTE data speeds are you seeing in regular use in Atlanta?

Typically 4 to 8Mbps down during the day and as high as 20 down in the later hours. Essentially I can watch netflix anywhere with a strong signal and have it look nice.

  10. We're all pretty much just masochistic people at this point. On some level, I'm sure most of us just enjoy following the rollout and looking forward to getting LTE more than actually having it. Living proof by the fact that we have Sprint.

While parts of Daytona Beach are enjoying LTE speeds, Port Orange is still seriously lagging behind with horrendous speeds. It's consistent speeds like this that have me seriously considering a carrier switch when my contract is up in October.

I'm a letter carrier in Ormond and saw a WesTower truck parked by one of the apartment complexes that had antennas on top

Luckily that's where I was going to take my lunch break, so I waited for the workers to pop out of the building; I asked what the hold up is around here and whether or not equip has been installed in port orange. Two of them walked off as fast as possible while one of them stood there like deer in headlights not expecting to be asked such a 'secretive' set of questions. He said that some base cabinets have been installed in port orange but most of the wait are the telcos providing fiber(Gee really?) And that it would be a couple of months before something in port orange lights up with LTE..

People wouldn't be leaving in droves if that was the speed we got consistently.

EXACTLY! If I saw consistent speeds daily then I wouldn't be thinking about leaving all the time. It's 32kbps one day, 1.5mbps the next, and 500kbps the next day. It's all over the map. And now with LTE speeds popping in and out. it's on an even wider scale. Every time I'm on my phone outside of a wifi connection I say a little prayer that the data gods are on my side. This also wouldn't be such an issue if we weren't all handing over at least $100 a month to Sprint

I got a pretty nifty limited time discount, so unless Dan Hesse says unlimited data is dead and/or says we're never getting LTE, I'm probably going to be a Sprint lifer.

Is anybody having battery problems, I phone drains really fast. Is this cause by sprint?

The biggest battery drain is usually your signal strength. If you have a poor signal your phone is going to constantly be searching to find a better one. Where I was living I was constantly switching between roaming and 1 bar of Sprint and my phone would lost like 40% battery in an hour or so even if I wasn't really using it.

Signal strength as well as overall data speed. Even though 3G technically uses less power than LTE, that only holds true if the 3G speed doesn't end up with ridiculous amounts of radio on time.

I have good news for whoever lives in and around Metrowest close to Conroy Windermere. I got a second 4G when I looked down at my phone while at Turkey Lake Park. I also saw a West tower communications pickup on Hiawassee Rd going towards Conroy Windermere Rd. I also noticed a quick second of 4G while on I4 just leaving downtown going East earlier this morning.

I also picked up some LTE starting from West Colonial and Hiawassee until about Raleigh St. Ran a speedtest and it was pretty fast. Here is a link to my speedtest. http://www.speedtest.net/android/468623068.png

Good speeds. Here's to hoping that at the start of next year when we're mostly covered we can expect strong coverage and faster speeds.

  16. I live close to 15 A and 17-92 in Deland and I picked up 4 G for about 60 seconds. I was playing with my kids outside and just happened to check the time and saw the 4G. If I wouldn't have taken a screenshot I would have thought my mind was playing tricks on me! ha  I spent another hour trying to toggle it back........ but nothing. Its coming though. (sorry I don't know how to make the picture smaller..)

  17. Hey guys I was getting LTE around the Hiawassee and east colonial area. When I did a speed test it was 6mb down and 1 upload. I kept the 4g signal when I turned onto Kirkamn and lost it when I hit metro west blvd and Kirkman.

This is the Pine Hills tower on West Colonial just past Hiawassee as you head northbound.

i wonder if there is nice amazing phone with the tegra 4i chipset could it be hacked to work on Sprints network by reprogramming/updating it with Sprint's freqs

It does NOT support CDMA, it's not a matter of frequencies. If you know how to program the baseband (ICERA) processor to add CDMA support, go ahead.

    http://www.nvidia.com/docs/IO/116757/NVIDIA_i500_whitepaper_FINALv3.pdf

Neither Broadcomm's new modem nor Intel's (probably) will support CDMA.

I know it's not feasible anytime in the near future, but I do wish CDMA would just die already in favor of LTE and voice over LTE. One standard already, people.

I want to see the results on the Tegra 4i before I crown it better or as food as the Snapdragon. As much as I can't stand Qualcomm's cornering of the CDMA market through intellectual property, I must admit they're making better SoC's than NVidia at this point.

The thing is, Qualcomm doesn't necessarily make the best 3GPP modems. However, because the US is really the last big bastion of CDMA (3GPP2), Qualcomm Snapdragon thrives here.

I do wish someone would unseat them already. Would be nice to see more Tegra and Exynos phones.
