Still new to this area. Didn't know OBT was that bad. I will magically find a way to avoid that road at all costs.
And, of course we are.
OBT isn't all bad. Just north of Lancaster it starts to get shady and even shadier north of I4.

They're? We are not the Borg. Lol I am
Single being. And I'm hurt ????
On the basis of your Sprint network obsession being like mine, you're my type ;-)

That guy was lying. Sprint is roughly only 55% finished with the Orlando market and even after that they stillf have to go back and do cdma 800, LTE 800 and LTE 2500. Every florida market will not be completely finished until 3rd or even 4th quarter next year.
Yup. Market launch != All towers and frequencies finished.

In other news I seem to have picked up a hint of LTE while traveling North on OBT from Sand Lake Road towards Lancaster. Didn't last long so probably testing still, but nonetheless encouraging.
Averaging 1292kbps down and 235kbps up at the Starbucks near Lancaster and OBT (on eHRPD).

Side note: I think the Premier Road tower near OBT is 3G Complete. Getting an amazing 1000 - 1700 down and 400 to 600 up. Previously I was lucky to crack 500 down/ 100 up.

At the very least, it seems quite likely that if you're anywhere close to a tower you'll eventually enjoy 2600 LTE, which benefits everyone since it'll provide that network offload that Sprint tried to achieve with WiMax in the first place.

Here's mine in Ocoee...

I can definitely say that what has a much bigger impact on my battery life is the speed and signal strength of my data connection. When I'm in ATL (where there is generally very plentiful LTE), I tend to get great battery life that easily smokes my 3G battery life. My GS3 doesn't really seem to lose anything from being left in CDMA/LTE mode and definitely isn't scanning that often to begin with.

Well time to call sprint.
Sometimes you have to flat out request an airave, though they shouldn't put up to much resistance, particularly if you've called in the past about poor reception.

I tend to lose connection with -108 at times, and won't reconnect unless I'm around -100 or toggle data on and then off. Noticed across multiple Roms it seems. Wasn't sure if it was just me obsessing over an unfinished network or something for actual concern.

I have noticed sometimes that when I drop LTE and go to a 3G only area for a while and then return to LTE I have to re-toggle my data connections to get LTE back. This is a rooted but otherwise stock GS3, for those curious.

Slightly off topic, but anyone else with an evo lte able to maintain stable connection compared to other devices, per say a S3 or S4, in a known good lte coverage area?

On my SGS3 I have noticed if I'm getting about -116 or better, I will maintain connection, though occasionally I get disconnected for seemingly no reason at all.

As a Floridian I can tell you I really valued living in areas where the power lines were underground during storm season. We'd suffer momentary flickers rather than full-on outages that sometimes lasted for days. Sadly we no longer live in an area with buried power lines, but have been lucky to only have one 6 hour outage.
-
Did some speed tests around the water tower and overall very nice. A couple tests ran slow but not sure if it was a momentary hiccup or something with a specific sector or what. Either way, a great sign of progress!

Tower at Volusia Ave and Enterprise Ave. in Orange City has been down for almost a week now. EVDO data just came back up and voice calls are now going through 50% of the time. EVDO is totally unstable, disconnects or goes totally down causing devices to go into roaming. But the LTE is working fine :/
You still use your phone to make calls??
Kidding.

I am regularly teased for the obsessiveness with which I check these forums.

I was in Maitland this afternoon, just off 17-92. These were my speeds inside a building.
Nice! I just need LTE to get on into Ocoee already.

Patiently waiting to drive back to orlando tonight. Is it bad that I am more excited about testing out the LTE than getting home. LOL
What's sad is I'm trying to think of reasons to go the UCF area now.
