  1. Hey folks in the Cleveland thread...I live in Maryland but have good friends that live in Ashtabula County (Rome/Orwell area). Anyone have any clue as to what Sprint is like in and around this area?

Looking at getting them on the last two slots on my Framily plan. They have Verizon right now...but have a Droid (original, 3G only) and a Droid Bionic on an OLD unlimited data plan. They can't upgrade the Droid because it doesn't have a LTE SIM card, and Verizon won't activate a new one for them unless they change their plan. Unlimited is important to them since they don't have Internet at home (not tethering, just phone usage).

  2. Hey folks...quick question here.

What is the best place to buy good condition used phones? Specifically for VZW. Friends of mine live in Ohio (VZW is the only carrier with reliable coverage in their area), and they are using an original Moto Droid and a Droid Bionic. I'm looking to pick up some better phones for them, the Bionic battery dies in 10 mins flat, basically has to be plugged in all the time.

I've checked eBay...but just wondering if any of you have any other places I should check. Looking at maybe a Droid Razr HD, Moto X, Galaxy S3...something along those lines.

    Thanks!

  3. The network, he mentioned sprint will deploy 3 20mhz on the 2.5ghz band, but is more concerned about LTE reliability than speed tests about faster.

This is HUGELY important for Sprint. People don't know anything about speed tests, but they do know a LTE indicator is better than 3G. I say that as I'm typing this post on I95 in Baltimore (a spark market) and I have 3G...and it's usable but very slow!

  4. Admittedly I never trust coverage maps much, but this has to be the most insanely over-optimistic coverage map I've ever seen, at least for coverage in west LA. It borders on false advertising (if it weren't for that wonderful disclaimer) - If people get Sprint expecting the coverage shown on the map they will be disappointed. I mean it shows best Turbo Spark coverage in tons of areas that have zero LTE right now. This map looks to me like it's what service will look like when all towers are broadcasting LTE 800, LTE 1900, and LTE 2600 - which is obviously not the current situation. The same in the Bay Area. I'm not trying to anti-Sprint rant, but what do you all think? Compared to what you see in your communities does this match up with what you're seeing?

The central Maryland/Baltimore market is covered in Yellow "Spark" coverage on the maps, but most I get is band 26 on most of the interstate, which is fine for even streaming videos (3-4Mbps), but definitely not Spark speeds. All of our band 41 sites are old CLEAR sites (Baltimore was the first CLEAR market with WiMax), so hopefully when the 8T8R antennas are installed, it will improve...plus adding many more band 41 sites. Right now they are pretty sparse around Baltimore. But solid yellow spark coverage on the maps.

  5. Has anybody had any luck with 1x800 on the new iPhones? I can't say that I've experienced any 1x800mhz on my new iPhone 6+. I saw a ton of 1x800 on my G3.

I really don't understand Apple and Sprint's reluctance to allow a 1x800 connection on the iPhone's.

Honestly...I am constantly seeing Band 26 LTE on my 6Plus. If it wasn't for Band 26, I probably wouldn't have LTE on most of my commute through Baltimore, lol. I get avg speeds of about 3Mbps on Band 26. The old CLEAR towers suck for Band 41 still :-\

  6. 3rd quarter results will be the next thing to rally the stock.

Agreed. With the way Legere was talking at their last "Uncarrier Event", I'm pretty sure they are having another impressive quarter. I am anxious to see the results of the big 4 carriers, and hoping that Sprint will continue on the upward trend as well. I don't see T-Mobile stock climbing to $37 after this quarter though.
