  1. New promo just started. Its basically getting the ipad mini lease for free because of the credit. Id like to see them advertise this.

Also announced the end of proration for new customers. I think thats a pretty big deal and b/c first bill shock sucks

Hey...are there any more details on this offer? I couldn't find anything on Sprint.com. I currently have an iphone on lease (with a Framily plan), just wondering if I would/could qualify for it.

  2. Forgive me...but I honestly don't know the answer. What the heck is an Account Spending Limit? Is this just a limit your bill can hit if you don't pay the bill before they terminate service? And they charge a fee for this "protection"?

  3. because you can easily sell your phone for >$200. I'm not sure where your plan price comes from though. If that is the case then leasing still makes more sense.

Not easily sell. I've had a iPhone 5c listed on Swappa all month...started at $235, have it listed for $175 now and still nothing. Might try craigslist next I guess. But selling Sprint phones is not easy...Verizon 5c's are moving quickly, but not the Sprint ones.

  4. Phone buying/leasing is fast becoming the "new car debt" pay over time. I walked into a sprint store couple weeks ago to upgrade as my 2 years were up. I was told they would only do easy pay/lease. i turned around and walked out.

Went over to Best Buy. who Priced matched Amazon plus another 100.00 off per phone. Opened a Best Buy card and applied the 2 100.00 credits directly to the purchase and have 12 mos no interest to pay off the remainder which i will do in the next month or so.

I'm on a good plan ED 1500, now with unlimited minutes from Marcelo plus a 18% employer discount. The math just doesn't work out for me to pay on a phone for 2 years and then own a phone that's outdated,

One can only hope if this becomes the norm it will drive down the price of devices.

On ED1500 you can lease for $5 a month with the $15 credit.

  5. Leasing is easier, and provides a good value. That's why people lease phones. No trying to sell your phone, or shelving it like many likely do. It's not for everyone, but it is for some folks. I like to buy my phone (just pay full retail), which gives me options to sell and replace at any time. My wife will never get anything but an iPhone, and only likes to upgrade every 2 years, so it works well for her line.

  6. These are the better questions. In this country, how long will it take private industry to invest in such crucial nationwide fiber network(s)? Will short term focused, increase my wealth quickly shareholders ever allow it?

Does the market actually demand nationwide fiber to all citizens? I'll be honest and say I don't know. Maybe most people want easier access. It's not a problem where I live, so if that wasn't the case perhaps I would feel differently. I am a federal emoloyee (I work in govt budget/finance policy), so I see how awful we do at many things. Some things the government does very well, and this could very well be one of them.

It's important to remember that a company like Sprint or Verizon have a #1 priority, and that is shareholder value. At some point the market will very likely dictate more prevalent fiber, and shareholder value will decline until they invest in that. But if the government took over that, it certainly might speed it up. But you'd probably piss off a lot of political donators ????

  7. How much would a government run nationwide fiber network cost?????

But in all honesty...it's too late for that option. And the government isn't exactly doing a stroller job of managing the interstate system. Deficient roads that exceeded their traffic design over 20 years still running strong. But hey, I live in Maryland, so maybe all the crappy roads are here.

  8. To anyone who took up the offer for adding a new line of service and getting it for free for a year. Has anyone had billing issues with it? My bill had cut today and I got charged for the line. My understanding was I would only be charged for the installment billing only and everything else would be a credit.

Totally not cool. I've been on hold for 15 minutes now. Hopefully I can get this resolved.
