  1. Hmm, I would have thought Fredericksburg to be in the Austin BTA, hence the Dallas-Ft. Worth MTA. But if this is PCS A block, then it is not Dallas-Ft. Worth MTA, as that is PCS B block for Sprint. You could cross reference the county in the FCC ULS database, but it looks like Fredericksburg must be in the San Antonio MTA, which is PCS A block for Sprint. AJ
  2. If Sprint were to expedite its VoLTE timeline and shut down most/all band class 1 CDMA2000 carriers in the next two years, I would not have a problem with that. But Sprint would be foolish to shut down CDMA2000 altogether too soon -- because that would take away the band class 10 CDMA1X carrier. And that band class 10 CDMA1X carrier has been instrumental in making Sprint arguably the best national network for circuit switched voice, topping VZW in that regard. If band class 10 CDMA1X were shut down, Sprint would lose many of the gains it has made in rock solid reliability. Not to mention, it would leave fallow a few MHz of rebanded SMR 800 MHz spectrum, since 3GPP has not standardized a 7.5 MHz FDD carrier for LTE. AJ
  3. If SERO, buh bye. Why did you warrant SERO in the first place? Practically all SERO subs have been frauds -- but Sprint has looked the other way. That does not make it right. Then, go to AT&T. You can not care about Net Neutrality. You can not care about wireless competition. I have stopped caring about what other people do. Ignorance is bliss. Because most other people are ignorant on these matters. AJ
  4. This is all in good fun. You are baiting me with this. I know you are. Well, here is your "van down by the river"... I even will throw in an appropriately Christmas themed "van down by the river"... https://screen.yahoo.com/motivational-santa-000000892.html And, yes, bring on the data caps. Impose them. That is the right move. For wireless networks at this time, "unlimited" data is not realistic. Compete on the size of the data caps. Do not circumvent Net Neutrality to give people "free candy." That is a gateway drug. AJ
  5. What cut rate contract subsidy plan are you on? And where else are you going to go? Costs may go up for you with Sprint. But can you get lower costs elsewhere? Many of these threats come across as idle threats... AJ
  6. Possibly, but probably not. Sprint does not have the spectrum means to shut down the CDMA2000 network at this stage. That does not require $25 million analysis -- or S4GRU free analysis. We already provide basically that. But if Sprint wants to contribute to the S4GRU holiday scholarship fund, do it. S4GRU has contributed a lot to Sprint over the past four years. AJ
  7. Yes. Robert nailed it when he deemed these Net Neutrality transgressions "free candy." And if you take free candy, then you enable free candy -- even if it is bad for you in the long run. AJ
  8. And as Robert has previously posted, that makes you an anti Net Neutrality enabler. Are you proud or ashamed? I do not traffic in emojis, use them sparingly. But if I were to use the thumbs down emoji, you would get far more than the six dose that you post above. AJ
  9. Check other relevant threads here at S4GRU. Some still have been able to access WiMAX. Others have not. It is mixed. AJ
  10. No news. We probably will not have any more news until the WiMAX court order expires or gets extended. In the meantime, do not have a massive attack. Or do have a Massive Attack. You have "Protection." AJ
  11. Oh, Hollywood did use Judy Greer properly at least once. "Adaptation." "Three Kings" is in the running, too. Unfortunately, both clips/images are pushing the limits of our PG-13 standards too far to post on S4GRU. But, lest I say, I like Judy Greer. AJ
  12. Boo, Dr. Tim Whatley. Bad, bad dentist. Anti Dentites, unite! AJ
  13. Here is the correct answer. Use Wi-Fi tablets while at home. Cellular handsets can charge or sleep. Use cellular handsets while mobile. Wi-Fi tablets stay at home. Simple. AJ
  14. Instead of coverage in Montana, if I were a VZW defender, I would jump all over those low uplink speeds. TD-LTE uplink typically faces disadvantages in both time slots and RF power. But maybe the uplink fixation is only a T-Mobile thing. AJ
  15. The premium is not $700 -- that is the total price. The premium is more like $300 above and beyond what is reasonable profit. And that likely is a product of the contract subsidy system and the iPhone. The contract subsidy system has hidden the profit margins in the monthly plan costs. And the iPhone has set the inflated price points for modern smartphones. But all of that is changing. Personally, over the past almost three years now, I have bought several superb handsets right at the time of release at full price -- and have not paid more than $425 per handset. Nexus 5. 2014 Moto X (Republic Wireless MVNO). 2015 Moto X. Nexus 5X. AJ
  16. Go back and read JosefTor's post. He complains that the Project Fi switch between networks takes a "mind blowingly long 2 seconds." I hope that is sarcasm. Whining about two seconds? Barring a dual radio handset, the network swap is not going to get much faster. And you can take that to the bank. AJ
  17. In order to have 2x CA, you must have at least two carriers. I just would not link them together, would not allow 2x CA connections. In an environment with thousands of people, it is better to provide two people with x speeds than one person with 2x speeds. AJ
  18. If Canada has not finished 800 MHz rebanding, then Public Safety still will be in the way at the top of the band where the band 26 LTE carrier is located. The band class 10 CDMA1X carrier has been deployed in some IBEZ areas because it is located below 821 MHz x 866 MHz and is in a contiguous 3 MHz FDD block that has been used for commercial operations, not Public Safety. So, once Telus Mike goes dark, band class 10 CDMA1X at the very least should be possible. http://s4gru.com/index.php?/blog/1/entry-90-fcc-ready-to-give-sprint-official-go-ahead-on-smr-800-mhz-wideband-operation/ AJ
  19. DAS does not limit CA. As long as it has the bandwidth to support multiple carriers, then it can support CA. I cannot confirm 2x CA on any of my current handsets, but the Truman Sports Complex in Kansas City has two band 41 carriers, more recently, two band 25 carriers, too. If I were Sprint, though, I would disable 2x CA on band 41 at the stadiums. High capacity, not super speed, is the key. AJ
  20. HSPA is an issue for W-CDMA. If the carrier were running only Release 99 W-CDMA, it would have greater range. AJ
  21. Beamforming is not likely on DAS, which often is designed to flood with signal a hard to cover space. Beamforming typically requires large, phased antenna arrays. That is better suited to the macro network. AJ
  22. If all four networks had median downlink speeds in the 11.2-14.4 Mbps range while T-Mobile had a median uplink speed of 17.2 Mbps, we can conclude that T-Mobile once again had a slower downlink than uplink. That network is teetering in the wrong direction. AJ
