Remember, with e/CSFB and single RF path, these tri band devices operate a bit differently. They will camp on LTE full time and not connect to CDMA2000 -- unless necessary. So, I am not shocked that the Nexus 5 rarely, if ever sees CDMA1X 800. If LTE 1900 is available, that is all the handset needs. And underlying CDMA1X 1900 is no doubt available, too. AJ

Those pics are practically black and white. Do you live in Pleasantville? AJ

The past does not provide much hope, but maybe the present and future indicate a paradigm shift. Qualcomm MSM chipsets still generally come in at least three flavors: "x2xx" series for 3GPP, "x6xx" for 3GPP2, and "x9xx" for 3GPP/3GPP2 with LTE. If that continues, choosing to use an LTE capable baseband will necessarily bring along CDMA2000 capability. Now, also implementing three CDMA2000 bands -- not to mention, three LTE bands currently almost proprietary to Sprint -- is still left to question. But we do see how that can all coalesce with the MSM8974 heart of the Nexus 5. AJ

Well, my response was not necessarily directed at you personally, but I had to quote at least one post on the topic at hand. Otherwise, its relevance in this market thread would make no sense. In the end, I have no problems with lack of SD cards and imposition of wireless data caps. Those factors might actually force people not to suck at the teat of digital content every waking hour and instead savor a drink, read a book, go for a run, etc. For business use, though, I can understand needing access to massive mobile data stores. But business people may and can rely on specialized products to meet those needs. Now, back to our regularly scheduled programming? AJ

Did I ever point a finger at you specifically? I think that you are being a bit touchy. If "[m]ost of those just want to haul around their digital entertainment libraries" does not apply to you, then please do not take offense. But I do think that my greater point holds. We are becoming a society of slaves to stored (or streamed) digital entertainment. AJ

You cannot directly correlate RSRP and data speeds. The network capacity balancing act is far more complex than that. AJ

The problem with that is the double standard. Many Sprint variant devices support GSM/W-CDMA, but almost no AT&T and T-Mobile variant devices support CDMA2000. So, device portability effectively becomes a one way street. Take your unlocked device from Sprint to AT&T or T-Mobile, okay. Take your unlocked device from AT&T or T-Mobile to Sprint, no dice. And that is unfair to Sprint. Thus, Sprint has little incentive to unlock its branded devices for use on other domestic providers. AJ

Yeah, I am not sure which was the bigger loser in this game -- Denver or Omaha. AJ -

Were there COWs? Probably. But I also saw a few wounded ducks on the Denver side. AJ -

The Broncos are just wetting themselves. The Mile High City might as well start getting high now because this game has long been over. IN-COM-PLETE! AJ -

Any bets on the over/under on the "Manning face" for the rest of the game? That was one on the sideline during that kickoff return TD. AJ
