  1. That may be true for most general users. But it is not a problem for a wireless engineering knowledgeable writer like myself. And it is not a problem for many of our similarly experienced members. We use the internal APK screens and settings all of the time. If we did not, a lot of the info on this site would not exist. AJ
  2. That is, no doubt, up to Apple. AT&T and Apple still seem a bit too cozy, and AT&T has no need for band 12. That stymied USCC and even caused it to switch directions from band 12 to band 5. But T-Mobile now needs band 12, and the first supported devices started to gain FCC authorization a few weeks ago. So, we will have to wait and see if the next iPhone(s) this fall support band 12 or if that capability will not come until the next refresh a year later, as usual. AJ
  3. I clearly was not thinking straight when I wrote my previous post. Yes, the Sprint variant iPhone 5S/5C would be in the same boat as the Nexus 5 -- other than missing band 41. However, I do not know how the Apple carrier bundles affect LTE band capability. AJ
  4. Does it matter? Derrick Rose's injury karma from cheating on his standardized tests will continue to stymie the Bulls. AJ
  5. Our economy's based on LeBron James -- again! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oZzgAjjuqZM AJ
  6. Most/all RRPP members will be using Sprint's spectrum holdings, so all Sprint LTE devices will be compatible. But that deployment is sometime in the future, not today. If hypothetically roaming were switched on today, it would be band 2, band 4, band 5, and/or band 12. The Nexus 5 is the only Sprint handset that could support band 2, band 4, and band 5 -- but not band 12. The other dual band (iPhone) and tri band Sprint handsets could support band 2 and band 5 -- since those are subsets of band 25 and band 26, respectively -- but only if MFBI were enabled. AJ
  7. All this method does is automate access to the internal Testing.apk and its Phone info screen/menu. You can just as easily use the dialer code or create a home screen shortcut to the Testing.apk. AJ

    LG G3

No, this thread is still of manageable length. And the interest in LG handsets just is not as great as that for Samsung, HTC, and Nexus handsets, so the thread will probably remain of manageable length. Thus, for at least the time being, this will continue to be both the preview and users thread. AJ
  9. That question cannot be answered -- unless you do define the band(s) in use. Band 2, band 4, band 5, band 12, band 25, band 26, band 41? AJ
  10. No. The idea spontaneously occurred to me one morning a year ago, and I wrote the opening post in the style that I would write an article on The Wall. We thought of adapting and expanding the post into a full article, but it never happened. Maybe it will now that the Sprint RRPP cat is out of the bag. AJ
  11. After a swap or two, Leap/Cricket got the Lower 700 MHz A block in Chicago. Like T-Mobile or not, I think we know that it will end up with the license in Chicago. Hopefully, T-Mobile will have to pay big bucks to get it. AJ
  12. You can bump this thread all you want. It has a top notch opening post that really should have been an article on The Wall. AJ
  13. Remember, T-Mobile ran 10 MHz FDD at its event in NYC a year ago. But it was in AWS spectrum that had previously been swapped with VZW. And no short term lease was filed. So, VZW must have signed off on the use and assumed liability. That is what we have to assume because we could never uncover anything official. It was an odd situation. AJ
  14. FYI, j'vai was banned at S4GRU for being unduly argumentative. Take whatever he says with a large grain of salt. And pending staff discussion, your post may be taken down for linking to j'vai, since we consider him an unreliable source. AJ
  15. Do you think I had not already located that very application within three minutes of reading Paynefanbro's post? AJ
  16. Do not wet yourself with excitement. That map reflects full CCA, not Sprint RRPP. And I question the Montana footprint. Is some of that Chinook Wireless? It is going kaput soon. AJ
  17. They might also be happy to be referred to as Appalachian State, since "ASU" de facto means Arizona State -- one of the largest universities by enrollment in the entire country. AJ
  18. Has Apple officially announced the phone? If not, the FCC OET will have nothing until Apple does. AJ
  19. Please cite your source. It is bad form to copy and paste someone else's work -- without at least a link to the original. AJ
  20. Mita Copier will buy the Baseball Hall of Fame and install Pete Rose. Oh, wait, based on the thread title, I thought we were making predictions. https://screen.yahoo.com/arakawa-group-000000693.html AJ
  21. For RF prowess, handsets and tablets tend to be two different animals. And there are solid reasons for that. AJ
  22. Guys, you have to give some in order to get some. Otherwise, in 5-10 years when slow but robust airlinks like CDMA1X are completely retired, you are going to be left with service in fewer places than you have now. With LTE, even 600 MHz -- if it actually happens -- is not going to solve all in building coverage problems. No, the solution is small cells deployed in most buildings. After we have transitioned to an all IP environment, those small cells could be Wi-Fi access points, LTE base stations, or both. But they are going to be using your broadband connections as backhaul. Now, you should be able to opt out. But the more who do opt out, the less coverage there will be for everyone. AJ
  23. Hey, you made the "no wireless experience" statement. You might want to be more careful with your assertions in the future. AJ
  24. A good hacker likely could break in to your non Comcast, non public hotspot, no problem. So, I would not lose any sleep over it. Instead, as I already posted once, think of the potential offloading benefits. http://gigaom.com/20...ndwidth-future/ AJ
